Full Version: Sal's Ipb3 Skin
Sal's RuneScape Forum > Everything... Not RuneScape > The Graphics Place > Digital Gallery > Rate My Work!

The text needs to be lighter and the minimize arrows on the categories are the wrong way but considering what this is, it doesn't really matter about minute details like the fact there is no scape lounge! Enjoy, critique, whatever biggrin.gif!

Holy fudge that looks hot. The Banner at the top especially looks awesome, but the page at the whole seems to work really well, and looks fantastic. Out of interest, how long did it take you to make that? tongue.gif

Looks nice. IPB3 has a sidebar like thingy though.

Also I doubt you can use images as forum titles such as Forum & Site Talk and I'm pretty sure a text effect like that can't be accomplished with CSS.

Overall it looks good, maybe a tad too much blue and too little contrast though.

The part in the banner saying "Sal's Realm of RuneScape" doesn't look that good. the smokey effect on the bottom and left look cut it and don't blend in.

It took me probably about 2 hours, but it wasn't consecutive! I like to just go back to it, so it spanned out over the day.

It does have a side bar, but I've noticed that there is a little arrow next to the news area that opens it and closes it. I didn't think about adding it really, I always have it closed off. I'm pretty sure images can be placed there though, I think I'm right in saying that because you can add images that repeat on the category background, having a small image at a minimum width should work fairly well. If not, something else will have to be done, fingers crossed if the design gets further than this though!

I don't understand what has happened to the text in the logo, it should be fine I'll have to just import it back in i think.

Alright.

Is there actually CSS done for this already or did you make this in collaboration with Sal?

There isn't any CSS for this design smile.gif. This is just something I've created, there is never any conclusion it will get anywhere though sad.gif!

Oh. I must say it looks good, but some things just don't look very practical to me. It really looks like you put a lot of work into it though.

I noticed how you put runescape smells anyway and misse out the scape lounge! tongue.gif

Good work thumbs.gif

This looks absolutely fantastic. It's too unusual a color to be the main "theme" of Sal's, but it would make a fantastic skin. wink.gif

um do you think that we could stray from rs related theme!
it looks cliche imo

Why would i stay away from the theme that this website is aimed at unless it was specifically going to be something that was going to mess with your head! As for it being a cliche, well, what isn't a cliche tongue.gif?

I feel that the font doesn't really fit. The font is a non-modern one on a modern skin. To me it just looks wierd. pfft.gif

I was looking for a font that fit the old style that would go better and look like it actually fit in quite well. Of course, the only viable option for me was Times New Roman as this font is accessible on most computers. You are right though, I think perhaps changing the font back to arial might just look better anyway.

No no, go on www.dafont.com and find better.

Such as the 'Realm', 'Forum', 'Members', etc links at the top - I can't see how you'd reasonably get that to work.

That's fine for fancy headings that have text in an image, but for general text on the page you need something standard - Arial, TNR, etc - not something that requires every user of the page to happen to have downloaded a specific font - it doesn't work and chances are it'd be harder to read than something standard.

Couldn't you just have them as separate images and use CSS to place them accordingly? The whole image itself could be a link?

I don't think that'd work very well. It's possible, but it just don't seem practical to me.

Looks like a skin I'd use. Nice job.
