The RuneScape Machinima Competition judges were this week faced with the tough challenge of reviewing all the entries and deciding which of the 1,000+ mini movies should place in the top five. Thirty-four hours of non-stop video, litres of coffee and a few ‘discussions’ later, the judges came out of their bunker, braved the sunlight and held aloft the six videos (it was too hard to handpick five) that they unanimously agreed to be their favourites.

Now it’s the turn of the RuneScape community to use this week’s player poll to decide which of the six finalists should win the grand prize. The poll will run for seven days, after which time we’ll announce the winner!

You can view the finalists in one of two ways. You can either find them on our “favourites” list on our YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/runescape), or you can check them out by cutting and pasting the video links contained in the polls into your browser (we recommend opening the links in a new tab/window to avoid having to log out, and back into, the polls module).

Although we’ve had to settle on just six finalists, we fought over quite a few others. To see a selection of our favourites, we’ve created a new playlist on www.youtube.com/runescape called “How We Lolled”.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the competition for making it such a great success. We can’t wait to launch the next competition!

It's hard to pick one, but the line dancing one stands out for me because it's still as amazing after watching it a fifth time as after the first, leaving that warm fuzzy feeling inside.

(plus there has clearly been HUGE amounts of effort put into making it (probably with just as much irritation at one single person being out-of-sync))

I agree, the line dancing was easily the best...all the others were flat and boring by comparison, though The Know1ng was conspicuous was its absence from the line-up.

Personally, I voted for the one with the oompa loompas, just because of them, I thought they were hilarious.

2nd I would've put the jig dancers, that sent a chill down my spine

3rd would've been Excls, looks like he's going to win.

I agree, it was great! The kid will have a good future in video making.

Here's my order of the top 5 in reverse order:

5) Momma's. Had bits and pieces that were really funny, but it seemed like the usual random video clips put together into a single video that we've seen many times before. Personally I thought Chizle's and Anti's (among others) were better, but it's still a good video.

4) Arrow's. It was well edited and funny, but a lot of it is taken off of a counter-strike Machinima video of an office fight between two old guys.

3) JinJr's ... Amazing, amazing video, but I get the feeling this wasn't actually done in the two weeks the contest started. It's also a lot like his original Riverdance video, but still ... one amazing production piece!

2) KKComics. I get the feeling that if he had Chizle doing the editing for him, that this video would be the runaway #1. Funny as heck and great ideas! This might be the new up-and-comer of RS vids if he can keep it up!

1) Bumshows. I know a few people don't like the voice, but I thought this one was the best. Very funny, amazing editing ... and a catchy tune to boot. I was singing this for days after seeing it.

Am I the only one who thought they were all garbage?

I know it sounds rude, but I don't intend it to be.
I seriously wouldn't have watched past the first 5 seconds of any of them (except maybe the line dancing), if I didn't want to be an informed voter.
Now I'm just not gonna vote, was a huge letdown

I'm sure many people enjoyed them all, but they just weren't for me.

What you guys forget, is that Jagex fails. The only thing they have done right is make RuneScape, and some of the FunOrb games.
They ignored some really talented vid makers (like drmmerguy59, chiszle, and from what I hear on this forum, Man), they said they would be judging on how well the vid is and not the popularity even though the popular people obviously would be more likely to win, and they didn't even put my video in their playlists, even after it followed all the rules.

Edit: can some1 please give me the link to Man's video, so I can see what it is for myself

AFter having watched them all again twice each, I have to say I think the line dancing one is the best, I have now taken that track off the video and put it on my MP3 player!

I'm someone who reacts strongly to types of music that I like!

You make yourself a rock and hide behind something. Gunthorian is actually a second actor, who can roam freely around the screen. With an editor like Vegas, you can usually crop yourself (as a rock) out completely, and just show your actor.

As far as "unfair advantages" ... Everyone else uses hacked versions of Vegas Pro to make videos, while I'm stuck with a generic yet legal version of Movie Studio. So it all balances out.

Not to mention, a few odd million people play Runescape, and I only have a few thousand subs ... so a large sub base will only get someone so far.

TNS is probably using a ring of stone and hiding behind that small drop so people don't see him.

Either that or he got somebody to stand in full bandos etc. and film himself, then TNS can (badly) add the text in Sony Vegas or something. He filmed a small part from the screen and used that in the scene where Gonthoriguy walks away.

I am guessing that was somebody else, and he was standing outside the recorder (with the help of HD).

Siamsa had MUCH better editing than the Know1ng trailer. Any person with Vegas or After Effects or whatever he used to make it can make that. Perfectly splicing the jig dance is something that requires time and concentration to the last millisecond.

Granted, the Know1ng trailer had much better visual effects, but the editing in Siamsa required much more work and in my opinion it looks better. It's easy to stray to overediting in Vegas and the like.

Heh there where some awesome videos to choose from, and my personal favorite was the river dance one. It wasn't very funny, but it looked like he put a lot of effort into it

I don't know what you guys thought but I thought that Excl's wasn't NEAR the best. It wasn't better than some of the ones I saw that were cut (Know1ng, just to name one). He's just getting all the votes because he's a known name in the RS world. He turned this into a popularity contest. The best one in there is the Jig video for sure, the rest weren't the best at all.

The guy who did the Llama song, lame. I doubt he or she is 13+, that was easily the worst. Thebumshow's was also boring. Gnarlie's was good, and Excl, well, his was ok, but he'll win because he's well known. It's a popularity contest because he's in it.

I agree with this.
I do like Excl's videos, they're better than most, but even Excl said it himself. There are some much better ones out there that got discarded.

The line dance was the only one worth looking at twice, like I said.
And I definately reserve the right to withhold my vote.

It's blatant that, as usual, it's turned into an outright popularity contest.
It's really depressing to see something as promising as this turned into one.

No offence to Excl or any of the other top 6 entries. But they stank, utterly. I appreciate that it's pretty hard to make a worthwhile video whilst keeping it around 2 minutes long.
But the standard of the chosen few is appalling.

I meant that that video was stupid, and that I doubt the guy who made it was 13+ due to its immaturity. (It basicly didn't diserve to be in the final 6)
