Runescape will probably dip a little in activity immediately after release, but I'm assuming it won't have a major impact in the long run. Jagex is aiming at a different target audience for a reason.

RuneScape will have almost no one playing it for the first day, but after a week or so people will have decided which game they like better. It's hard to tell how good MechScape really is before it's released, so I can't really even take a guess at how it will affect RuneScape's population after a week, though.

Yes Jagex thought people might feel that way.

Actually, I'd probably play both. I like sci-fi AND med. fantasy.
I think all the Mechscape servers (assuming it's like RuneScape) will be full and their will be mass lag with players running around having no idea on what's going on and RuneScape will be pretty empty.

I'll be extremely busy recording, taking screenshots, writing some quick articles, updating MechTopia, and actually trying to enjoy the game too while I'm at it.
As for RuneScape, dunno, and I honestly don't care.

I thought mechscape sounded pretty lame o_O
I might check the website on release, but I don't intend to make an account or anything like that.
But I do forsee a dip in runescape activity for a day or three

I think that on day one of release practicaly nobody will play Runescape, well around 3 people per world judging by the forum's poll's. It depends because all the poll's are in the
"mechscape discussion"
section and if you were not playing mechscape then you will not look at the it. Soo!
I'unno'.
After that there might be less there might even be more than normal because all the commotion
that mechscape make's
MIGHT
draw people to runescape?

Well, it's more like 20% really, but yeah. It could be split 50/50 or something. And from how many people are saying they won't even try it, it could be even more in favor of RuneScape.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.
Sheesh, I hate waiting...

Runescape might be a bit deserted, but who knows whether Mechscape is as great as it's hyped up to be?

Everyone will rush to Mechscape, causing high server load and lag. People will then take it upon themselves to spew useless angry crap all over the Mechscape and other fan forums about how the game sucks and the servers are complete fail. You know like when they released Farming/Construction/Summoning.

Also, I would laugh my pants off if, this was just a long term April-Fools.

Seeing as the requirement for MechScape being released is 'Hell freezing over', I'd say you're right.
