can anyone say mutt?
Caboose
No, no i can't.

That processor is very bad. So is the RAM. So is the Hard Drive. And definitely so is the video.

BUT

The Operating System is good. And you know something? It was made with this kind of hardware in mind. Meaning it should be as fast in day to day tasks than an average system today.

Software is getting slower more rapidly than hardware is getting faster.

Basically, by todays standards, it's shizzle. You need to upgrade. But for what it is and when it was it's okay. If you see what i mean...

Install Linux and you should see a speed improvement tongue.gif

Holy shizzle.

That thing is about level with my first computer. Which was out of date when we got it.

We got it in 1998.

It had 800MB HD, 32MB RAM, I think its video card was 16MB, and a 500MHz processor. An older Compaq Presario.

BUT IT HAD THAT AWESOME NEW WINDOWS 98 ON IT MAN

Did you not read the rest of my post? I don't know if installing something like DSL would be an improvement though... does anybody know how it is against 98?

I should imagine DSL would be significantly faster than Windows 2000 (the OS the original poster said the notebook uses). Linux might not be the best OS for the original poster though, they're probably happy with Windows.

Meh, personal preference but i don't much like the default 2k theme. Although that said, i was using ME throughout most of 2k's lifetime aware.gif
Veni vidi vici
That would be worth more if you took it apart and sold the scrap metal...

Seriously.
