5 years ago. Good times guys
Ruin
you have three posts i highly doubt you have experienced enough of the community to judge it.
Emanick
5 years ago the community consisted of several dozen people in a forum made of cardboard and secondhand tissue paper.

Do you mean four years ago? tongue.gif
WeePee
Do I know you?

Yes and I like this:

Notice anything different than most of us have? Besides the 3 post?

I dunno if he means this, but if he's implying the forum isn't as great as it used to be, Ruin is right in that he almost certainly can't judge its current state.

I don't have a lot of post count compared to most of the people that joined around the time I did, but that doesn't mean I don't know what has happened here at Sal's. slanty.gif

I usually just browse the forum rather than post in it. He/she could have done the same you know? Quite a few people here at Sal's do that actually . . . browse the forums rather than post in it.
Kemosabe
He's partially right; some aspects of the community have degraded, but as a whole we've flourished. It's great being here. biggrin.gif

Some bits are better some worse, the worst being said in 1 word: wiki

error404
I must say the runescape suggestions are getting worse now, the forum was bad when I joined but got better until I reached about 1000 posts where it went down again but now it goes up again.
Goggie
Unfortunately, due to the fact that he failed to mention what has got worse, we cannot improve and this topic is rather pointless. What a shame sad.gif

Although I do have strong feelings about Sal's going downhill, my lament rests mainly with the 'Scape Lounge. However, after that epic rounding together speech, and then a certain member's banning along with another member reaching 6 warns, I've noticed that particular forum has gotten better.

I do not claim to know what the forum was like years ago, but obviously things are gonna change, there will be more to maintain which means more spam. Be thankful that we have a fit moderator staff to deal with it as soon as they can. We cannot simply make a forum that has grown to something like this into a better place, unless everyone with a warn level of over -1 is somehow banned. ohmy.gif

I love how you imply that we only have one moderator who does there job tongue.gif We have at least 2

I can see by simply browsing this topic what's bad. You're all acting like wannabe DMs.

@Hybrid: 1000 posts is a hell of a lot more than 3, in a hell of a lot less time. I don't believe somebody could return for long enough to judge us without posting. Even more so when he hasn't tested the community's reaction to himself, only achievable through actually posting.
Sobend
I liked this place better a couple years ago too but that's because I had more friends. If they were still here it probably would be just as good.
Scooby
It was a tad bit more fun a year or two ago, most members have either been banned or quit the forums. Before this one Sal had the first forum, having 5 posts doesn't mean he wasn't around for that one.

This is not the 'Scape lounge. We are allowed to be serious here, in the forum where people (for the most part) give serious feedback. Oh, and in before serious cat.

You go in any thread here, and trust me. Everyone posts the same way. Also, people acting like Wannabe DMs in JUST THIS topic, isn't what is plaguing the boards. You are acting as if that is a reason for you to call us Wannabe DMs, and therefore the problem of the entire board.

The people that actually are Wannabe DMs cause no harm. They just kinda act like they post well, but then spam an already spam thread, or join in flaming someone. People like that are usually ignored and should just be left alone. They aren't usually breaking major rules, and are pretty much just normal members who believe they have a higher authority over everyone, for some reason.

Of course the wiki isn't serious at all and is a huge joke that no one should have ever taken seriously.

I assume anyway...didn't write it after all.

Man made it one night when he was very tired and bored with no intention of showing us, but then he did and it was a good night's of entertainment. I wrote my own page, so that tells you how serious it all is.

My opinion? Most people who have been here for a long time have grown out of Runescape, which makes it pretty useless for them to be on a Runescape forum.

hi
Zon70
5 years ago this forum was bad, too many clique like groups and too many fads that ended up in flame wars. I'm glad the way our community has changed(for the most part)
redmonke
Yea, the community is better. Except I miss Bub, Acid, Stobbo (he's not very active I don't think), Agent F (not as active as before sad.gif), Coltmcarbine, and that other tech guy (the anime one tongue.gif).

But many parts like Tech Talk and Other Games are much better than before.

The Runescape sections all went way downhill, but that goes with the game.

So basically you're a guy who comes every now and then to reestablish this random sense of superiority you seem to have... whatever floats your boat. The forum existed 5 years ago. The forum exists now. I really don't get this idea that Sal's isn't what it used to be -- personally, I don't know that I enjoy the forum as much as I used to, which isn't by any fault of anybody here. It's just that I don't really care about all the Runescape stuff and some people I used to talk to left. But there are always cool new people... People complain about spam in the Scape Lounge, but there's always been spam in the Scape Lounge. I think this perceived "elitism" or whatever you want to call it is more about people simply being change averse than anything else.

I agree with you, in my case Sals became less enjoyable since i quit, its because we have to move on tongue.gif

I post here every once in a while to contact with friends and check the new updates.

I love sals tbh. It's always been good to me. Sadly I'm newer to forums but an oldy to cc. I find it as good as it was when i first came around. It has a great community of people and isn't as spammy as some of the other large communities and has more hardcore players and good people.
Dad
People don't just act like wannabe DMs here. As for it causing no harm; acting differently than one regularly would in search of a promotion is what leads to incompetents with power. That is harmful to a social group.

Whilst at first glance your argument is reasonable, I myself purely browsed these forums for over a year before I even registered an account, and as my post count shows, I don't post often at all.

This person could, and I say could lightly, know more about the general population of Sals than most people!

However I'd appreciate more than a few phrases from him before I begin to take him/her seriously!

Sal's is the same as everything in life.
It's as good as you make it. The more friends you make here, the better time you will have. Hence why all the 'older' generation of slammers think Sal's was better when they were at their peak friends wise. I always find forums hardly change, the names in the clique groups do.
Rene
Ajonesse?

That's the name I thought of when I read your username . :3

Edit: Apologies for the bump.

Only noticed it just now. bleh.gif
