Whats the highest price I can sell my computer for on craigslist?
2 HD ATI 4870's (2 seperate cards with crossfire)
640gb HDD
5gb ram
Cooler Master Scout Case
23.5 inch Acer LCD monitor
Logitech 2 speakers 1 bass (S-220)
Plextor Cd drive
2 extra fans that didnt come with case (antec and cooler master fans(both are red light))
Phenom 2 940 3.0 ghz with Artic silver thermal paste

Will throw in Assasins Creed, Cod5, Street fighter 4, Photoshop CS4 extended, and will install any operating system you like
Thats my add on craigslist I was wondering how much I can possibly sell this for. I see macbooks at $2500 but Im not going that high I was thinking around $2000-$2300
Caboose
Quite high i'd have thought, upwards of £400, maybe pushing £500-£600 with the right buyer. Good advertising is what you need though.
redmonke
I'd say maybe $1500 to $2000.
farbods0
I want to make a good profit out of this I spent I think $1300 or more on this I want a huge profit so I can build another right much better with a core i7 processor and possibly a better video card

Reason people don't want to buy new computers is because they're willing to pay less for a used one. If you charge someone that much. they'd rather buy a new one.

Don't include all the games in unless your desperate, you can get upwards to 1500-1800 dollars.
farbods0
but how come other people put their computers up for much more than mine and they actually sell even though they are worse. Like my friend sold his macbook for $2100 and it sucked

People who buy Macs are accustomed to paying for a higher price. I mean you can try to sell it for two grand, but I doubt it'll sell if someone can build it for 1.3k.
farbods0
yeah but people go to alienware and order computers for super high prices. Alot of people are way to lazy to build their own computer. I was one of them then i changed

Alienware...that's a brand. You aren't a brand. People normally like the backup that a known brand gives you... warranty, tech support, etc.

By the way: Plextor Cd drive

Don't you mean DVD RW drive or something like that? You better clarify it.
Yippee
It's free to put it on Craigslist, just put it at what you want. If it doesn't sell, put it on at a lower price. If it does sell, great! I think you'll get what redmonke said, but it doesn't hurt to try for more.
Sepultura
I have a very similar build as you, but I've only got one HD4870, a 1TB HDD, 8 gigs of RAM, a smaller (but similarly priced) monitor, different (similarly priced) case and no speakers. It cost me 1000USD to build. I've cut back on the graphics card, but with the extra RAM and larger HDD the price point is ballpark of what it would cost to build your computer or mine again today. If I was to sell mine, I would only expect 600-700 for it. Since yours has a heavier duty graphics department, but cutbacks in other areas, I would say I wouldn't go any higher than 850USD. My .02, take it as you will.
DaNoobPro1337
I'd say ditch the software, since not everyone will want it, and sell for 1.5k.
farbods0
nah ill just stick to $2000 I mean it comes with a 23inch monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and headset. Its the whole package you just need to plug it in and your good to go. Other people just have the desktop by itself
havocdemonzkrew
Members are giving you advice, but your greed has overcome your reasoning.
If you aren't going to take any of the suggestions, why did you really make this post?

And a plus, don't give out pirated software or operating systems (i.e. Photoshop) or online games with CD keys (COD5), you'll get a VERY bad reputation.
It's either new or nothing.

Don't be arrogant, we're not out of the recession yet boy.
farbods0
Im sorry greed has overcome I want money so I can build a system with the core i7 !!!!!!!
Caboose
That's pointless. You're not going to see that much of a performance increase anyway... just stick with it. I thought you wanted the money or something but there's no reason for you to upgrade now.

You're not going to sell it for $2000.

Your profit margin is very high for a used computer.

Even if you built it to sell, there aren't any warranty guarantees, meaning you'll have to lower your cost.

If it was brand new, no usage at all, I'd sell it for 1800, after negotiations end at 1650.

I'd realistically sell that for 1200

I would lose money if I did that how about I offer a lifetime warranty where anything goes wrong ill fix it for them for free

What, you're going to write a contract for them? huh.gif

Why do you want an i7 so much? You'll see almost no improvement over your current setup, since you can play every game out there already.

But I cant play all my games at 60fps straight all the time like tf2 drops from 60-36 from time to time

Then there's something wrong. I've used computers with way worse specs that easily play tf2 on highest 60fps.
farbods0
But do u always get a solid 60fps? Like never any drops? Try the map sawmill and you will see what im talking about. Type Netgraph_1 into console to check fps

Well I know playing 2fort with max players it lags for me (on my integrated graphics) but I was playing on an Nvidia 8600 and it was buttery smooth the whole time.

tf2 is far from demanding, and with TWO 4870s, there must be something wrong.
havocdemonzkrew
Lifetime warranty?

What are you trying to be?
How would they contact you, phone? How would you get to them if they're in Europe? You have to see how bad you're going to get burned. With all the illegal crap, and this lifetime warranty?
If it's a hardware malfunction I don't think you're going to fix it by yourself and you'd pay more money for the manufacturer to fix it. Refuse fixing it? YOU'RE GONNA GET SUED BUDDY.

Marketing fail here.

farbods0
Your getting me worried redmonke what can i do to see if I did something wrong?
finisterra
I guess you could go to DXDIAG and verify it shows everything you installed.
redmonke
Well you said they're in crossfire, are they set up correctly? I've heard about them being set up wrong and causing bad performance.

I'm not the best with super high end systems (never been able to work with them pfft.gif), but I'd guess it's that, poor drivers, or something else slowing it down. Because with that setup you should be flying in every game.

Oh and processes running in the background, which I probably doubt is a major problem, but they can build up and lower performance.

I think its in crossfire because of the total memory
redmonke
Try PCMark. It should tell if they're linked.

What motherboard do you have?
farbods0
M4a78 plus
redmonke
Tom's hardware says it's not a good mobo for crossfire. pfft.gif

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128387
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDet...st=Combo.200065

That's what one guy said here.

I bet Bob's opinion could be used here.

QUOTE
(your processor) It supports crossfire at x4 link, which is low bandwidth. It will bottleneck your GPU's. The 790X/GX chipsets allow Crossfire at X8 bandwidth, which is enough for most GPU's to not be bottlenecked. The 790FX chipset allows Full X16 bandwidth, which is good if you have quadfire 4870X2's or 4850X2's. You want a 790X/790GX chipset.

So it looks like that's what your problem is. You don't necessarily need a whole new system, just a better mobo because with the x4 link you're not getting the full speed of your cards.
farbods0
I dont want to buy a whole new motherboard for crossfire. How come it says im using crossfire then on ATI

It recognizes you're using crossfire, because you are, but you're not getting the full speed of each slot. You're only getting x4 when you could be getting x16 with a different, better crossfire board.
farbods0
Theres nothing I can change on the bios to make it better?
redmonke
No because it's a hardware limitation.
farbods0
any way i can possibly return the motherboard to newegg and get another type? I dont have the reciept

Wait when I had my build up for my computer you guys told me to get that motherboard

You can try to RMA it.

And it wasn't me. pfft.gif
farbods0
How do I RMA it. Also you were there on the post you should have said something. Btw im not blaming you and I really appreciate all of your help happy.gif

Well yeah, you'll lose money.

Things depreciate.

Oh, I see you've solved this.

Nevermind.
farbods0
Usually you make more money if you do a custom build thats why some people make it as a living

Go to My Account > returns (RMA) > find it and hit replace. See if they'll allow you to do it. They may not give you a full replacement, but they'll probably lower the cost a great deal.

And I'm really sorry about the situation. I hate it when this stuff happens. Looking through your topic I only saw mention of the M3a78 and the Foxconn one, though. pfft.gif

Before you RMA it, I'd wait 'till Bob posts. He's really good when it comes to this (a lot more experience than me tongue.gif).
farbods0
Nope theres nothing there I guess I have to settle for my horrible motherboard. So if I get a new motherboard would the performance be that much different

Oh make sure you hit "See All" (next to the go button). tongue.gif

And yes, I'd expect the performance to be much higher.

That's the difference though. They have a business, therefore they sell at retail prices, more accountability.

You can't offer what they can.

If i do buy a new motherboard where could I sell my old one or would I just have to keep and just let it stay in my room?
