A Hero In Orbit
I need to up the list on soothing songs. Songs that I can just close my eyes yo and drift asleep.

A prime example would probally be Hotel California- Eagles
Whitey
Check out the album;

The Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid by Stars of the Lid. Easily the best ambient stuff I've heard to cure myself to sleep.

Or anything by Current 93.

You probably won't like it seeing both bands aren't anything near The Eagles but whatever.
Mr Grieves
If you like Hotel California then you'll love Hotel California.
Vera
Relaxing music? I've always found early Bob Dylan, especially the album The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, to be very relaxing.

Ph201
Classical music. Also metal.
Sea Rayn
When I can't sleep I usually listen to something like Loreena McKennitt. Her soft, exotic sound and beautiful haunting vocals are very soothing. Counting Crows is a more mainstream sound that is fairly mellow and nice to listen too.

Sometimes I am in Oldies mode and choose some of Elton John or Neil Diamond's softer songs or some of the old Folk music bands. I have to admit, some of the reason the oldies are soothing to me though, is that my mother often played her old 45's and LP's (records) for us when we couldn't get to sleep (though some of them weren't "oldies" back then tongue.gif). So it might not have the same "soothing" effect to someone without the memory.
Sepultura
There y'are.

Only Love Can Break Your Heart by Neil Young

Instead of listening to coldplay you should listen to the original songs from the bands they steal songs from.

I agree, but their new video is amazing.
The music is bad but the actual music video is so good.

Who cares if they stole one song? They still produced it brilliantly and they're still a bloody amazing band. I hate how people hate them because they stole a song. Listen to some of their older music. dry.gif

Although, to stay on topic, any of the music from the Halo 3 Original Soundtrack is brilliant. Orchestral music, but still, it's amazing.

Anything by Cannibal Corpse is a must for easy listening.

Judging from the name, I highly doubt that.

Anything from Bucketheads albums: Electric Tears or Whitewash.
Whitewash itself is a beautiful song. Or Buckethead: Too Many Humans is a nice jazzy song.

Talking about jazz. It defiantly chills me out.

Charles Mingus and John Coltrane are worth noting for some groovy stuff.
Sk8skull

Sodom
Steve Vai - Hand on Heart
Buckethead - Electric Tears, I Love My Parents
Annihilator - Sounds Good To Me
Boston - Livin' For You
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
Megadeth - Promises (sad)
Tesla - What You Give

A great relaxing song is Washington Bullets by the Clash, except for the fact that the lyrics involve violent Latin American revolutions. yeeeeee...

Also, I find the song "Good Morning" by the Dandy Warhols to be very soothing when it's late at night. It's fairly heavy, but it's got this psychedelic touch that makes it a very surrealistic listen.
