So, what do you think of the new iPods?
Nano-Voiceover, Video Camera, Pedometer
Touch-3GS CPU, Voice Control, 64 GB for $399
Shuffle-$59 for the 2GB
Classic-160 GB for same price
Looks cool, but I think not giving iTouch users a camera is just mean.

The Shuffle is stupid. Who in their right mind wouldn't buy the SanDisk Sansa Clip /+ for that money? So much better in every way.

iPhone firmware 3.1.1 is out to take advantage of iTunes 9's features is also out. I'm not upgrading since it supposedly bricks unlocked phones (doesn't sound fun).

I was quite upset that the iPod Touch didn't get a camera and the fact that the Nano has a radio and no other model does annoys me. I hear the microphone headphone combo thingy sucks and Apple should just put the mic in the touch.....

I can understand why the touch doesn't have a camera. If Apple gives the thing too many more stuff that the iPhone has, what's the point anymore? The touch would then literally be exactly the same, only missing the phone part. iTunes 9 looks neat for us iPhone users, easier way to manage apps on the phone, and better options for syncing. And I'll definatly be getting one of those nanos this weekend, they look hot, and mine is so last year

I'm there with the same logic as you Rangeover. I've got my iPod Touch that I don't want to have filled, but I have 150+GB of media that I wouldn't mind carrying around. If I were you, I'd grab a Classic, unless your library is under 16GB somehow.

I would. That *might* just fit all of my data. I want something I can have in the truck that fits all of our movies and can plug into our rear seat DVD system, or plug into the trailer with all of our music, or plug into the stereo for whatever we want.
There are some of us that have 100's of GB of media. We're not that rare.

Bleh, it seems like Apple can't go 5 minutes without bringing out a new 'generation' of iPods. I've still got my old 4GB from about 3 years ago, it still works great! Then on the other hand my sister is on her 3rd iPod (she just stops using her old ones when a newer version comes out) and hers keep breaking down all the time, and half the applications on her Nano don't work.

iPod Nanos that shoot video but don't take pictures? Odd.
The cameras in the nano are extremely small and quite low-quality. Therefore, shooting stills would look really bad, but videos are more forgiving on that.
Why there's no camera in the iPod touch (a question by NY Times to Steve Jobs):
QUOTE
Q. You put a camcorder on the iPod Nano. Why not on the iPod Touch?
A. Originally, we weren’t exactly sure how to market the Touch. Was it an iPhone without the phone? Was it a pocket computer? What happened was, what customers told us was, they started to see it as a game machine. Because a lot of the games were free on the store. Customers started to tell us, “You don’t know what you’ve got here – it’s a great game machine, with the multitouch screen, the accelerometer, and so on.”
We started to market it that way, and it just took off. And now what we really see is it’s the lowest-cost way to the App Store, and that’s the big draw. So what we were focused on is just reducing the price to $199. We don’t need to add new stuff – we need to get the price down where everyone can afford it.
To be honest, I'm glad there's no camera on the iPod touch.

That's technology for you. Think, I bought my first generation 8GB Touch for basically the same price you paid for that 2G 16GB.

iTunes 9 = <3. My technology circle is complete for a bit now. Snow Leopard 10.6.1, Desktop Manager for Mac, iTunes 9 + school applications.

I'm really loving the App Organization on iTunes - so much simpler. I guess I'll have to get used to the new silver shade, though. Nothing major. Plus Genius Mixes is working perfectly. Finding new tracks on my library that I haven't listened to in a long time. And it's accurate, too.

Steep iPod Touch prices and no bigger Nanos?

That gives me absolutely no reason to even THINK of upgrading my 4th Gen Nano 16GB. So the screen's a bit bigger--I watched exactly two feature-length films on my Nano and got tired of it quickly. Plus, with no additional capacity, there's nothing in the size category to convince me.
