Okay, I'll be quick with this.
Can we please ban ads which have sound? I've got the same one a few times, you roll over it once by mistake and it loops about 3 or 4 times, ads are annoying enough as they are, I don't want to now have to listen to them.
While I was thinking about the ads, as some are made in Flash, reporting them can be difficult, as the URL is needed, which you can't get. (well you can but I'm to lazy to be going through it all). I don't have a problem with Flash ads, as long as they have no sound.

I know there is an option to mute them, but they soon unmute themselves. (Cookie related maybe? But I've got mine to auto delete at close)

How useful it is.

I'm on Chrome.
And No I'm not changing to firefox just for that.

There's usually a way of clicking a sound button in a corner of the Ad. If you're referring to the OXO advert, there's a toggle in the top right-hand corner.

Oh yea, you sure showed Sal who's boss now.

You're only taking revenue from Sal with that. I can't be the only one who occasionally clicks the ads to give Sal some money. box.gif

Or better yet, report the annoying advert. I recall him blocking a sound advert in the past.

Have you ever heard of lowering your volume down? I've never had a problem with advertisements on the site, if your listening to music just leave the topic or let the ad play.

I mentioned that, but they usually uncheck after.

That was my second point, couldn't get the URL for it.

I usually am listening to music, and I don't really want to be hearing some annoying advert over the top. Leaving the topic could work, but I'm getting that ad quite often, and I'm not leaving every topic just for an ad slanty.gif.
Goggie
I'd say just report it then, and if the sound from the advert is bugging you then i'm sure you won't mind clicking the sound toggle every so often. smile.gif

Edit: Thought about changing your cookie options? It could solve it for you, i'm not very wised-up on Cookies and that sort of thing though box.gif

Firefox doesn't work and crashes on my computer and I like a faster browser really because I have got a slow computer.

In that case, don't whine about sound ads. It just makes you look like a complainer.

I like how this topic has gone from "hey, this bugs me, can I get some help?" to two totally unhelpful people yelling at each other over an utterly different subject.

On-topic: There are easier ways to block ads, regardless of browser choice. I'm not going to detail any here, but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file#Other_uses will help out if you can connect a couple dots.

It's definitely worth having them so that we can still have a forum to post on...

Adverts in general like those found at the bottom of threads, in the site's left menu, and at the bottom of guides is worth it. Adverts that disrupt the end-user's experience including pop-ups, pop-unders, and sound ads are not worth having IMO. I'm glad Sal opted not to use the former two and I'm sure he didn't intentionally display the latter either. I'm also sure he would block it if information specific to the ad was given.
