How much did you pay?

But overall looks like a good laptop. Toshiba makes some great laptops. That thing's gonna be heavy, though. tongue.gif

I'd never get a laptop with a screen that big. D:

Oh and you got way too much RAM. Your processor at 2.0ghz is going to be holding you back.

It depends on how you're going to use it. If you want to be mobile, then no, that's a horrible purchase. The thing weighs 10 pounds and only gets around 2 hours of battery life. On the other hand, if you want a notebook that can match up to a desktop, then yeah, I guess you made a good buy. But I know I would never buy a notebook for that purpose. :3

I'll be keeping it at home. I will bring it to my friends' houses, but other than that, I don't really travel, so it will mostly be at home.

It'll mainly be for music, movie, and Internet use.

For 1k that's a pretty good deal. My laptop is a toshiba from last year, 800 bucks got me integrated graphics, 2 gigs of ram, and 15.4".

2.00GHz is really going to set you back. I got an HDX16t, for $800, with 4GB of RAM and 2.2GHz.
While it is Duo Core, you probably should have gotten it for less, because of the 2GHz.

Meh, okay I guess, though, I wouldn't do any hardcore gaming on it.

There's almost no difference between 2.0 and 2.2 in terms of performance.

I'd do some gaming on that, definitely. The 4650 is quite powerful.

Oh yeah, just saw the 1GB graphics. Really the processor should be faster, but with 1GB of graphics, you might be okay. The 6GB of RAM is really overkill. My laptop is going to have 4GB, and that is now standard, if not, more than needed.

I think that the 2.0ghz p7350 might actually perform better than the 2.2ghz T6600 because they're different technologies. The first one is a Wolfdale and the secodn one a Merom. As far as I know, Wolfdales have better characteristics such as more cache, a higher FSB, and better power management (battery lasts longer).

Having a better graphics card does not exactly justify having a lower processor. (unless all you're going to be doing is graphics-related stuff)
Veni vidi vici
Oh I know I'm just saying that it will help.
And I know about the processors but I know it doesn't make a difference for your processor.

Agreed, that's a nice laptop, the cpu's gonna be the bottleneck; 6 gigs of ram is far more powerful than a 2.0 ghz dual-core (or it would be if there was any sort of meaningful way to compare them.) And for $1000 it's great.

@Red: how'd you manage that? My laptop is a Toshiba, from about a year ago, with 2 gigs of ram, integrated graphics, and a 15.4" screen... and it cost $400.
It did, however, come without a few features that baffled some of my friends (it has no webcam, a single-core processor at 2.0 ghz, and only a vga port for extra video.)

EDIT: typos...

I'd assume because I have a dual core, Vista, a webcam, the full Office suite, and it was from Future Shop.

Those don't account for $400 though; what version of Vista did yours ship with?
Also, the Office Suite isn't worth anything in my book because Openoffice is free unsure.gif

Openoffice is nothing compared to MS Office Professional...

What model is yours? I have the Satellite L300. And it was $800 CDN. tongue.gif

Mine came with home basic aware.gif

Openoffice has every feature that most users will need, although Office pro might have some higher-end stuff that I don't know about; it seems a lot like the comparison between GIMP and Photoshop.

Mine's a Satellite L305D from Newegg.
