I cannot in good conscience believe pop culture television icons can be in the words "good role model" simply because of the hypocrisy so many of them are. They say one thing and do the opposite. If they actually lived by what they said then yes I could potentially consider them a good role model but for the time being, no.

Hmm let's think about this shall we? A little tiny whore and harlot of Capitalism prancing around in her underwear singing tunes she never wrote. A false prophet of individuality and "girl power" (gosh that word seems so hollow).
Why would she be a good role model? Her purpose is to make money, and she does this to great effect. She's nothing new, just the new product in a long line of commodities. She is identical in purpose to all the products that came before her. But she is the newest product, and as such she is upgraded with all the latest gadgets and the newest trim. This is done to appeal to an ever changing demographic and market conditions.
I have seen her kind before, and I dealt with them as I shall deal with her, with passive content. Because I know, her fame will pass in time, just another in a long line of Pop Music products.

What I hate about her being a bad role model is that she doesn't go all the way. Britney Spears went all the way with being a very bad influence, but Miley Cyrus makes an effort to appear somewhat clean in the eyes of parents. She might as well just admit she's a whore by now.
Well at one of her shows she was pole dancing, this did not put me her in my goodbooks at all.
She's good for little girls just to watch and have fun and listen to her etcetera.
But a role model? NO

She's not a good rolemodel in my opinion, but who in Pop is these days. Seems like she is trying to keep up the pretence of being a good rolemodel half the time, but then when she's off the small (or big) screen she acts totally different. Which may be no different to a number of people, but she could at least be truthful about the matter.

Pop Culture doesn't produce role models at all.
I'm not so sure about that. I think half of my life experience has been directed by Star Trek. I quote Spock, Kirk and Picard daily. And they seem like pretty good role models to me.

And we could go on to name numerous more examples, from film, T.V, music, the stage, art, etc. Can't you yourself name lessons that have been learned from the pop culture you appreciate? So it seems like a rather silly blanket statement to make. Trust me, I want to say it, I want to say that pop culture is nothing more than a bread and circus for the masses. A whole herd worshiping a puerile idolatry of wealth, fame, and trivial achievements. I want to say that, but I can't, because it's not true. It blankets all pop culture, and blinds us to the truly decent and good phenomena.
