I'm more into skit comedy and comedic acting than stand-ups. Because of this, I look at comedy in terms of groups and troupes. I'll go with Mel Brooks and Judd Apatow for the hilarious films they've directed/produced, and Monty Python for being awesome at everything.

Ooh yes, Black Adder was quite funny.

Yeah, his work on Time Team was absolutely hilarious.
Russell Howard, Jack Dee and Eddie Izzard are my favourites. Just beating Dave Mitchell.
Anyone watch this weeks Mock The Week? Frankie wasn't on this time, and I found the program over all to be much more humorous. Frankie is ridiculously over rated if I'm honest, what he says isn't funny, it's just he's not afraid to speak his mind and sometimes provokes controversy.

Exactly. Dane Cook is an incredible comedian, but you need a more perceptive sense of humor to understand his wit.
