What's the worst natural disaster you've experienced in your life?

For me, it was a huge flood that covered most of my neighborhood,, and other provinces in my country. The water was shin-deep inside, hile the outside it was knee-deep. It was quite recent actually, around Saturday maybe? There are still some places flooded with water here actually. Couldn't get internet connection until yesterday. I think we're due for another storm tomorrow....
Samurai Kenji
I've found myself in hundreds of earthquakes and 1 pretty serious Tornado in Kansas but not much else.

Manitoba by any chance?
FatPeopleLagIRL
I was in a Yornado once, not in it, but it was around the area picking up things and throwing them at me. It wasn't a large scaled one though.
Kwinten
None really. Except that one time it was raining hail half the size of a tennisball maybe.

I live in a very boring town.

Meidou: No....not Manitoba....quite far from it...

Big monsoon, I guess it was a flash flood. Water was high enough you couldn't see the sidewalk. Pool overflowed. Lots of wind. A few days later there was another one that ripped down part of our Palo Verde.

A 2.something Richter scale earthquake or being half a mile from a tornado in Illinois. Your call.

This is quite familiar... Are you from the Philippines?

Yeah that was it. Highest reached roofs. Flood didn't hit us, though, we're in a hill type area. Marikina was hit quite badly though. Everything was soaked. Up to the roofs. Apparently the cars floated and they were on top of each other. Since lots of people from Provident Village were rich, there were hundreds of millions lost.

Lol, Saturday. The flood that was nearest us reached 2 storeys, though. WE went to visit our uncle's house in Marikina, and we saw everything in his house was covered with mud. Even the wii. We immediately got all the important expensive things.

On the road, there were snakes, dead dogs and lots of them. Scary.

Yeah, apparently 3 more even stronger storms are heading. Yeah, wish me luck.

P.S. To you guys, that's the aftermath of Typhoon Ketsana. To us, that's Bagyong Ondoy.

P.S.S. Thanks to everyone from the U.S., lots of donation came from the states.

That's not a disaster, a disaster is something that causes severe damage to many people. smile.gif We don't get many here in England, if any, I live in very high land so I've never seen a flood within 10miles of my house.

Loled at the 2.something earthquake we got one of those in Toronto and everyone who was actually awake for it at the party i was at was like PMFG ASDFASDF THIS IS LIKE SPARTA X9000 (Actually 300 wasn't out at the time so thats invalid) but anyways thats usually around where the hundreds (slight hyperbole) of earthquakes i've been were on the richter scale and i think the most damage that they caused was about $40 in broken plates and a lot of pieces of glass in my foot from having to clean it up.

Tornadoes always scurred the living shizzle outta me because the few times aside from the one incident in Kansas where i've been close to where a Tornado occured i was always in a crappy cockroach-inn apartment that would have gotten torn to shreds by even a tiny one.

Living in the uk nothing i was one of the last planes before hurricane katrina though.

@Choccy: A light quake like that isn't scary until you feel it...the whole feeling is weird to the uninitiated (directed at Meidou angry.gif)

Maybe i'm just used to it then but i find earthquakes kinda fun tbh, only thing that worries me is that if a tsunami forms its gonna virtually rape my little craphole on Okinawa. sad.gif

Oh and i've said before i'm scared shizzleless of being in an earthquake in California because through a combonation of the Superman Movie and old 1916 earthquake footage that has given me a few nightmares during my stays in Los Angeles and San Diego.

Thunderstorm? That's all you get in New York.
Biscuit
I've been through hurricanes but none have been bad for me.
Whitey
The local river once flooded rather bad. It swept some ducks down river.

It was maybe 2 or 3 feet over the normal water level.

A couple of Earthquakes. Mount St. Helens causes a few bumps and tremors now and then, but nothing major. And every now and then a nasty ice storm shuts down Portland. Of course most Midwesterner's would balk at the pathetic snow and ice, but for us, it's close enough to a natural disaster. And Portlanders don't deal well with ice and snow, as this evidence clearly shows http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPE8vL5hlFA

That hurricane, although I was pretty young... It destroyed a lot. By a lot, I mean many bridges, houses, buildings... In my hometown. It ravaged the northern coast of my country too.
D-Jizzy
Oh, that's true, we had some flooding two weeks ago. We were on the Weather Channel too@@@@@

That, and there was the two feet of snow we got in...2000? in Illinois. I thought it was epic because I was a little nine year old then...

Mhmm. I live in Marikina actually, but luckily the flooding wasn't as high in the other parts smile.gif.

Our church basement got flooded when Katrina came in land and rained for several days, we had 8 feet of water in the basement and we were rushing to get things at least upstairs.
