Everytime I try to make a shadow using the perspective thing, it just looks weird.

Filters -> Light and Shadow -> Drop Shadow
You may want to sharpen the rock she's standing on. It's going to look weird no matter how you do it, though, you're putting a 2D character in a (2D) picture of a 3D world.
