Story

On Good Friday of 1300, Arcasteus, a famous explorer, made the discovery of a lifetime. He discovered Mt. Joy and at its peak, lay the stairs to Heaven. However, when he tried to climb the mountain, he was stopped by three beasts. A She-Wolf, a Lion and a Leopard. The three beasts are believed to foreshadow the three divisions of Hell, incontinence, violence and fraud respectively. Arcasteus was forced to retreat to the foot of the mountain. On the foot of the mountain was a gate and above the gate reads the inscription:

I AM THE WAY INTO THE CITY OF WOE
I AM THE WAY TO A FORSAKEN PEOPLE
I AM THE WAY INTO ETERNAL SORROW

SACRED JUSTICE MOVED MY ARCHITECT
I WAS RAISED HERE BY DIVINE OMNIPOTENCE
PRIMORDIAL LOVE AND ULTIMATE INTELLECT

ONLY THOSE TIME CANNOT WEAR
WERE MADE BEFORE ME, AND BEYOND TIME I STAND
ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE

Arcasteus touched the gate and it suddenly glowed blood red. The iron gate slid open slowly and red smoke seeped from inside. After the gate opened, Arcasteus was staring directly into the depths of Hell. Witnessing the horrors within, he immediately ran back home where he reported his story.

A group of soldiers was dispatched to prove the story but they never came back. Believing local bandits attacked the group, the nearby garrison dispatched even more troops. The troops found the remains of the original group but the wounds weren't made by swords or arrows. They were made by claws and bites.

While examing the remains, one of the soldiers reported seeing the supposed gate of Hell. The troops rushed over and stared longingly into the depths of hell. The commander immediately sent a messenger to a nearby fort to report that Arcasteus's story was true.

After the messenger left, the troops were swarmed by demons that poured out of the gate. Great winged beasts with horns. They clawed and bit at the troops, the troop's swords and arrows doing nothing to penetrate the thick hide. Fortunately, a priest was among the troops along with several paladins. The priest, uttering words of prayer, managed to blind and stun the beasts, their skin burning with pain. The paladins, with their blessed maces and swords, cut down the cowering beasts.

The place was considered unholy ground and the gate was sealed. The place was kept under tight security and nobody was allowed in the vicinity except authorized by Emperor Jalus himself or his closest advisors and generals.

However, ten years after its discovery, it was reopened...

and fraud respectively.

You called?

Seems good, and currently I'm in a marching band, and the half time show is based on Dante's Inferno as well.

Question: Will you be an active character or just a DM?

Ok, sounds interesting. I'm curious why someone would reopen the gates of Hell after only ten years. tongue.gif

I think I'll whip up an app soon.

I love the way people say, interesting. I might join as soon as I think of an app. It actually means:

It's good, but not for me.

On another note, I might join, when I get some time... aware.gif
