So, as you all (should) know, the SC is on a recruitment drive. I'd like to make my own request to everyone that frequents this forum. We have a lot of techies here, and I'm sure you guys could make a great SC. So, without further ado...

http://runescape.salmoneus.net/forums/inde...howtopic=300940

We're desperately understaffed right now (probably need at least 3-4 more people), so you can apply as either a host or writer/researcher (no editors as of yet). If you are applying as a researcher and have distinguished yourself by having knowledgeable posts on this forum, all you need to do is link to the posts, along with a brief bulleted summary (3-4 notes will be sufficient). Otherwise, follow the directions in the thread.

I look forward to working with you!
Caboose
What exactly does this entail?
DaNoobPro1337
Well, we cover all software, electronics (gaming/computing/gadgets), trends in technology, the tech market, etc.
Fencefry
Ooh Caboose, you should have a debate with Bob-sama about PSUs!
redmonke
The thing is that anyone that knows slightly anything about technology will be in this section.

For example, the interview I did about Windows 7 was a pretty dumbed down version of the Windows 7 VS Mac VS Ubuntu thread. When you get more in depth, the average person is going to get confused/lose interest.
error404
I will be experienced in forum/blog technology, programming or coding, I might be looking at microsoft for more windows updates but most likely I will stick to programming and coding.

I might also look at word/powerpoint/etc if I get the chance. But first I have to see if runescape/jagex discussion has spaces, if not...well this is second choice.
DaNoobPro1337
So, does anyone feel like joining yet? smile.gif
Veni vidi vici
Hehe... No.

I'd love to debate about computers and all, but I really don't have time... I mean... After I come home from school and do my homework, I have very important things to do, like nothing.

I'd love to debate over whether Windows 7 is worth getting, why people shouldn't go to sites with viruses, or even what kind of computer someone should get. Sorry, but not my area tongue.gif

Though, I do love my NEW HP HDX16t, Intel 2 Duo Core 2.2GHz 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB, with 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT Dedicated Graphics, with 4GB of DDR2 RAM, and a 320GB SATA Hard Drive.
~Vincent

EDIT: Yes Red, I posted all of that JUST to brag to you and Caboose tongue.gif
EDIT2: Eh, WTH? I'll post an application for the tech section...
redmonke
Yea can I write up an article about Veni and his weird obsession with his new laptop?
Veni vidi vici
Red, you could write a novel on it tongue.gif

Its just, that, I used to have a W98... And... crying.gif I'm just so happy...
~Vincent
DaNoobPro1337
Congrats to you tongue.gif. I still have a 98 (that I never use, of course). 10 minute startup FTW!

And your bullets sir!

Ubuntu 9.10 Beta Review
By: Vincent
-Ubuntu (Pronounced Ooh-Boon-Too) 9.10 Beta is the newest addition to the popular operating system.
-9.10 full version will be released later on in October (28th).
-9.10 contains many new themes, wallpapers and now has screensavers.
-New GNU GRUB loader, to choose your operating system at startup.
-New boot-screen and login screen, give it a refreshing vibe.
-Ubuntu is and always will be, 100% free.
-9.10 is very stable, with very few bugs for a Beta.
-Comes with Firefox 3.5, Ubuntu One (Filesharing Program) and Empathy IM client, all very easy to use, and access.
-Opening programs seems smoother and a lot faster.
-All in all, 9.10 Beta is a great operating system, and I recommend it to anyone that enjoys Ubuntu, or just wants to get away from OSX or Windows.

I know it is a little long, but Ubuntu 9.10 is a complete operating system, and I just covered the basics. I could go on and on about all of the things you can do to customize it, and programs you can download for it.
Windows 98 FTW!
~Vincent

EDIT: I have first dibs on Windows 7 Review!
DaNoobPro1337
Look at your app thread in about 5 minutes.

I already did the Windows 7 one. sad.gif

Although if anyone wants to interview me for 7 (even though I interviewed someone else...) I'm down with it. tongue.gif

Even better, I can be picky about yours.
I'll take a look at it, if I can ever get back on.

The only thing my app needs is:

"Restart your computer in safe mode with networking and run a virus scan"

Are you saying that that's the answer to 90% of the problems in this section? angry.gif
DaNoobPro1337
It's very likely tongue.gif.

Anyways, if you would like your (hopefully) charming voice on the Salcast, squabbling about the best OS or w/e, we still need 3-5 hosts!
Caboose
Running in safe mode doesn't solve any problems. But yeah, i'd join. It's just i don't exactly know what i'd do. Also, i don't have a mic at this point...

ohmy.gif

It does! It's the first tool in every Sal geek's arsenal of cop-outs aware.gif

Anyway I would kinda like to do this, but I can think of some potential problems:
a) I have a webcam with a mic, but it's REALLY bad quality so I'll probably have to buy a proper mic.
b) Time constraints. I will probably only have time to record on Fridays/weekends.
c) My voice. It may burst some eardrums tongue.gif There's a clip of it in General Chat if you don't get what I'm talking about...

But yeah, chatting about computers and showing off my geekology skills would be cool biggrin.gif

mmmayyyybbbbeeee rolleyes.gif

I would join, but I don't have much time. I have a mic, so if I plan to join one day, I'll be ready lol.

I signed up i'm mostly involved in gaming.

Well, if you still want to be a 1337 host of tech stuffs, we're still hiring smile.gif.
