A Madrigal
Do you feel that the different guilds are really that useful? I remember WAY back wanting 32 cooking so bad so I could finally get into the cooking guild. Then after getting in I remember being disappointed because it didn't really seem to offer me much to help in my cooking skill. Oh wow, a chocolate bar respawn, how exciting. Then I mined and mined so I could finally get into the mining guild. And I went in and I was disappointed because it was just a bunch a coal rocks and a few mithril. Nothing new there.

Same thing with the crafting guild. I can mine or do my crafting in other places much easier than going to the crafting guild. Does anyone here actually use the crafting guild to train crafting? Granted, I have not visited all of the guilds, but the ones I have visited just seem to kinda be a waste of space. Not really much benefit to them. It would seem the guilds could be made more useful, I don't know, maybe offering jobs to high level players kinda like the lumber yard. Just a thought.

Many of the guilds just seem to lack a purpose and are not very helpful once you finally get in? Does anyone agree or disagree? Which guilds do you find to be the most useful?
Shmoe
All of the guilds have a purpose.
The Cooking guild can help low-levelled cookers make money by making and selling pies to the Pie Seller, 99 cookers can buy the skillcape.
The Mining guild is one of the best coal mining spots in all of RuneScape, and once again, you can buy the skillcape there.
The Crafting Guild has a good gold, silver, and clay mining spot (although they should have a furnace dry.gif) and people can buy the skillcape.

I think guilds are useful, since I always fish in the Fishing guild, and mine in the Mining guild.
donwonton
as they stated the three guilds are quite useful
maybe you haven't felt them useful as you dont feel the need for the items
i agree that cooking and crafting guilds are very disappointing but the runecrafting guild covers that
i feel the prayer guild is a waste
you need 32 or wat? prayer lvl to enter it and all you get is two extra prayer points when u pray there......
all the guilds except mining are kind of far from banks.......
Veaelan
Well, I for one find the Warrior's Guild very useful for training. It also has a bank.
Aximili E I
I'm going to agree with donwonton on the prayer guild and I would say ranging is close behind...they are at the bottom but as for best... probably warrior even though I can't get in....
Easl
Runecrafting guild is decent smile.gif
Mining guild for the rocks
Warrior guild is more of a minigame, but I still enjoy it and defender is very very good
Its a Liger
RC guild is very nice, as you can actually make a good amount of money there.
John_And_Edward
Most of the guilds become useless after you become higher levelled. However, they are pretty handy for when you first get into it. smile.gif
Real
I've only ever really found the Warrior's Guild and the Fishing Guild.
All the other guilds that I have access to seem to have little benefit for me personally, whereas I have used these for earning good xp/money/Defenders.
Destroy V1
I have used all the F2P guilds, and the only one close to doing justice is the RC Guild.
Lord Lookov
Mining guild is v. good 4 me with the RC coming 2nd.
The Who?
Most Useful: Warrior's
Least Useful: Prayer/Cooking

Most Inventive: Runecrafting/Warrior's
Least Inventive: Mining

My favorite is the runecrafting guild, but that's just because I'm a free player. Also, seeing as I'm 85 mining, the mining guild has always come as a huge disappointment. It seems you could do so many cool things with a mining guild, yet all they did was stuff tons of coal and mithril into one spot near a bank. The living rock caverns are actually more of a guild tbh.
Stella
The cooking one is actually quite useful in my opinion, you have everything needed to make pies/pizzas/etc inside or nearby.
The warrior guild is a good training spot.

Prayer guild is pretty useful in bh worlds since its the only alter on the server.

You don't need to put a whole guild in just to make a place to purchase a skillcape.

In my opinion, some of the most useful guilds are the Mining, RuneCrafting (not that useful, but the minigame is fun), Fishing, Legends (Shadow Warriors can be good training, and better drops), Warrior's, and Hero's (containing like 20% of all of RuneScape's Runite?).

On the opposite end, I see the Prayer guild (though its +2 Altar is useful), Ranging Guild, and Crafting Guild.

All the rest are kind of in the middle... They're useful, but we wouldn't be that bad off without them.

Right, lemmie rephrase, the only 'safe' alter on the server.

Ok, I'll accept that, I figured that's what you meant anyway. Chaos Altar is full to the brim with PKing clans 9 out of 10 times anyway slanty.gif

I'm pretty sure it's unofficial, but I like the Rogue's Den for Thieving. Decent experience for the wall safes.

Everybodies opinions on "useful guild" will be different, but mine are Runecraft(for the snazzy robes cool.gif) and Crafting.
Pinkytm
I would say thats thoughtless to think that.

Warrior's guild - defeders and minigames
Cooking - useless
Crafting - when i was training crafting at low levels, this was the best! i killed cows in next to the guild, went in to tan them, and i made hardbodies on the way to the rimmington general store to sell them there. i actually made money and got xp. very slow and boring, but i couldn't afford anything better at that time..
Fishing - best spot ingame to fish sharks/lobs
Mining - one of the better spots in rs to mine
Magic - best spot to mine essence
Prayer - used a lot when ppl were edge pking
Rcing - idk, inactive when it came out
Ranging - useless

So far my personal opinion has not been swayed. It seems like the guilds could be made so much more useful. Crafters should WANT to be at the crafting guild. Cookers should WANT to go to the cooking guild, etc. But they don't. Most of the guilds are not an attraction.

Warrior's guild - I've actually never been there. Minigames? meh, I don't play minigames.
Cooking guild - Totally useless. I got 99 cook and never got 1 single xp there.
Crafting guild - Totally useless. Somebody said the mine is good. Then why not just have a mine? You can't do anything with your ore anyway because there is no furnace. You can't craft a ring or make a pot, can't make molten glass, you can't do any worthwhile crafting at the crafting guild. Someone else said it was useful because you get the skillcape there. I got my farm cape in Draynor, no building was required.
Fishing guild - Probably the "best" guild. What does it offer, it's a few seconds quicker to bank than Catherby.
Mining guild - Nice if you want coal, I guess. I don't mine coal. The mines at the Heroes Guild and under Jatizso are much better. Never set foot in the mining guild.
Magic guild - "best spot to mine essence". We need a 4 or 5 story magic guild to serve as a portal. A few steps closer to the bank but when multiple people are running essence there, the front door becomes an issue like it was at the Edgeville furnace. I'd rather mine in Varrock and have no doors to deal with.
Prayer guild - Was used for Pking, now totally useless.
Runecrafting guild - Never been there.
Ranging guild - Totally useless

And please, this post is not meant to bash or argue with anyone elses personal opinion. This is just my humble opinion after playing RS for a couple of years. I simply started this thread so as to discuss the various guilds and what they actually offer.

Again, those opinions are VERY biased.
Crafting - Crafting guild is very good for low lvls to train there.
Fishing - The "few seconds" slowly stack up after getting 85 fishing there wink.gif.
Mining - Just because you don't mine coal doesn't mean that the mining guild is one of the best spots in rs to mine it.
Runecrafting - Again, those "few steps" stack up after mining 10 of 1000's of essence. Just because you'd rather mine in varrock doesn't change anything, the guild is much faster.
Prayer - For the prayer guild, what the heck do you suppose jagex to do. Do you want them to say, "Now that we have ruined pking, there is no more reason for the prayer guild to be there, so we will remove it."?
For the rest, I agree.
Skelex Teh Phails
I'll do this from my narby f2p point of view.

RC guild is my favourite: inventive, interesting, and a great minigame with epic rewards.
Cooking guild is very useful but only at lower levels
Champions is unused
Mining looks useful...must get 60 >_>

I think that's about it?
Joe Schmmo
  • Cooking Guild - No use for this one, since 90% of My cooking involved lobsters, shark, and monkfish.
  • Crafting Guild - Very useful, especially since I can use the hot-air balloons. Teleport to Castle Wars, take the balloon to crafting guild, mine clay/soft clay, repeat if necessary.
  • Mining Guild - I don't use. Too crowded with other superheaters. Becomes a thieving guild.
  • Prayer Guild - I got the monk robes and a blessed holy symbol back when My prayer was 31. This guild has been obsolete since.
  • Runecrafting Guild - A GREAT guild, if it wasn't for the fact that it's a teIam based mini-game, meaning everyone is someone else's fault there. Pest Control and Barbarian Assault also have the same problem.
  • Fishing Guild - Another good place, but the sight of all the macros and People with cooking skillcapes (while having a fishing level between 65-70 as well) really disgusted Me. Forced Me to do the "Swan Song" quest so I could fish monkfish and get away from all that.
  • Mage Guild - Best place to mine essence, but like A Madrigal said, too many People there will jam things up. Distentor needs to have a stoplight installed.
  • Ranging Guild - Pretty useful to Me for a long time. I went back and forth between here and Catherby to buy adamantite tips because My smithing level wasn't high enough. But now that it is, this guild has become obsolete.
  • Warrior's Guild - It's usefulness depends on how often You get those defenders. In MY case, it's of no use to Me at all. Spent about 2K tokens and still have yet to get a bronze defender. This one was a write-off. I got better things to do with My time.

The crafting guild is great in f2p. Tonnes of gold and silver plus you have the pottery furnace so you can make pots and bowls if you want to make some xp. The mining guild is also the best coal mining spot in f2p.

These are basically all opinions so it really doesn't matter. If you don't use them, then you don't use them.
Sothe the Rogue
all guilds are useful for training the skill at some level except for ranging and prayer unless you kill the tower archers and monks
Klaus
I have so far assessed 2 guilds- cooking and champions. Neither very exiting.
KO D YOU X_x
Ehh.. I think the Magic and Warrior's guild is the best. Magic for the amazing Pure/Normal essence running, and Warriors for I think it has 3 skillcapers there...
