Have you removed the "some client for runescape that like has timers and calculators and stuff"? It is probably a virus...

I think that should be the red flag for you.
Whatever it is, it sounds like SwiftKit, maybe you should uninstall it then try RuneScape.com.
I don't know why the Website wouldn't load, usually that's just because of an internet malfunction, but if it was working before you installed it and not after, sounds like it's the problem.

99.9999999999999% of the time (or something close to that) those programs will have some form of virus on them. You'll probably want to run some form of anti-spyware and anti-virus scans, then delete whatever nasty stuff it put into your pc. After you do that, you'll also want to change your password so it doesn't steal your account.

If it really matters to you, backup your files, and do a clean install of your operating system.
If you don't want to do that, download MalWare Bytes, and really do some hard core searching.

It WILL mean that you lose everthing on your laptop though, it WILL go back to factory settings. But, you can easily re-install everything.
You should have gotten a disc on purchase of your laptop. Insert the disc and follow the instructions. It should take a hour or so at max.

Actually, laptops don't come with discs anymore
Only format your harddrive and clean install as a last option, because you'll lose everything!!
Right now, reboot in safe mode (Restart and then at the black bootup screen where they display the company logo, press F8, then use the arrow keys to safe mode)
Then virus scan
But if you do have to reformat:

That's what the program is trying to do. Steal your password and make it so you can't access the website to use recoveries. If it works on your brother's laptop, your first priority is to use your recovery questions
on his laptop to recover your account and change your password. After your account is secure, you should focus on ridding your computer of that nasty virus.

This went from "runescape not working" to formatting your computer.

. Get an xp CD, backup all your files on a USB, and format that puppy.

The virus probably modified your HOSTS file. You don't need to reinstall Windows, you just need to remove a line from the file. Navigate to "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc", uncheck read only on the file, then remove the line that says "127.0.0.1 runescape.com"
