Whenever I attempt to play Runescape in SD, I lag so much I can not walk even five steps. So, I was wondering if you, the tech wizards of Sal's, could help me.
I have 128mb RAM and 950MHz Cpu. I thought different browsers would work but, Google chrome didn't work, Neither did or Firefox 3, or IE 6 or, the latest SwiftKit. Also, I have the latest version of Java, and my graphics card:
Name: NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 (MICROSOFT)
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce2 MX/MX 400
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Please help me, also here is a link to a copy of this topic that died, if it helps, http://runescape.salmoneus.net/forums/inde...=296936&hl=
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and help me.

I think you need a better computer. The min reqs for RS are 128 mb of RAM and a 500mhz CPU. I think that your RAM may be holding you back.

Well, i did recieve this computer free of charge.... but is there anyway I can play it?
finisterra
Other than not having any other application open, I don't think there's much you can do.

Oh yea, do you have all of RS's settings at minimum?

all except 2

Then get all of them at minimum and tell us if it gets any better. By the way, what type of internet connection are you using?
ibleed green
How would i tell that? But I am positive i have a Comcast SB5101 surfboard modem.
I will try to play with all at minimum.

It isn't your internet, it is your computer. 128MB RAM... That is so little... And your Video Card isn't much better...

950MHz is slower than a netbook, so, in short, you need a new computer.

Unfortuanetly, the minimizing of the settings did not help.
And Veni, I can not afford a new computer.

You can get a netbook for $300 (+6% tax = $318)...
You don't even need a hardcore one. Netbooks can actually play HD, and pretty well. I tried it on my dad's, and it worked really well.
And, yes, scaling the settings down won't help. TBH, I don't even know how you can get firefox open, but you should get a netbook.

EDIT: If you can't afford it on your own, do what I did. I waited until a few weeks before my birthday, and had my parents pay for half. I COULD have payed for it myself, I have more than enough money, but it is something that can help. If you want to know where I get the money, I've been saving for 6 years.

I would not suggest Internet Explorer 6 for any web browsing. There are so many insecurities that it's not worth dealing with IMO. What operating system are you using? I can probably direct you to some settings that you can lower to squeeze a little more "power" out of the machine. Adding more RAM for $20-50 would make an impact but your video card is also weighing you down. Nvidia hasn't supported drivers for this device since 2006.

I have a windows 2000 proffesional computer. It was from my former job. the actual tower is a Dell dimensions 4100. It has an intel Pentiun inside.
@Veni: My birthday, and christmas aren't that far. Also this is mainly giberish, on my part.
