I've been hearing stuff like "lamo! That's Mopar!" and I've been wondering what is Mopar? I've herd of Private Servers and all that stuff, but could someone go into detail? Thanks huh.gif
Shmoe
Mopar is a private server that's really old and people can make items and stuff on it. So when people are showing off their st00fs and the pic/video is really old, people claim it's from Mopar.
iJaCo
they actually have really updated "mopar" servers up to the HD update (not that i use them myself.)

Its just a private server client, which nobody uses anymore, as it hasn't been updated for a few years now. It has no direct possibility of trading with Runescape and such, its basically just fun. However, it is illegal; this is an example of Moparscape ^.-

So is it against the rules to just go around on their and have fun? unsure.gif
Lol
Basically, they stole RuneScape's coding, so not allowed.

I dont think the users of the mopar client itself are the ones breaking the law, but those who own the private server are the ones who get in trouble

That sounds right. It's not illegal to watch pirated movies streaming on the Internet, or even download them, as long as you're not distributing them. So I'd say this is about the same.
The Who?
If you play mopar you will probably not get caught. If you host any sort of private server, you will get your butt kicked in court so fast it isn't even funny. Copyright laws are taken very seriously, don't break them.

Sounds fun, too bad it isn't legal... Anybody else think a RuneScape sandbox would be killer?

they are fun for about 10 minuites untill you get 99 everything and max cash 5 times over and basically lived out your runescape goals and dreams within one sitting.

I'm pretty sure any discussion on moparscape is against the rules...Might have changed I know it used to be.

Also for a while there was a virus going around through it, like any other pirated software. Yet another reason to not use it tongue.gif

Yeah, last time I checked it is illegal to watch/download pirated movies. tongue.gif

If you're interested, Mopar's not worth it. I should know, I played it for a few hours when I was like 11 and too lazy to actually do any real work on RuneScape. tongue.gif Once you've done everything in the space of around 30 minutes, you realise just how much fun RuneScape really is.

Jagex wouldn't even bother dealing with the courts unless the servers were taking away a substantial percentage of their income, which they're not, nor ever will be, doing.

Moparscape (I think) was deleted by Jagex, but it was not as fun as real RuneScape anyway. You could get 99s easier and money was easier to get, and the BEST PART is that it stole your password from RuneScape! smile.gif So if you ever find it, do NOT play it wink.gif

No.

Mopar doesn't steal your password. I've used it for years and my main's password is still nice and safe. Plus the client is virus proof. Nod32 ftw. Also Mopar & other serv's have a VERY good community. Because you have to compile, use Winrar, It's idiot proof so yo want get the average "hi my name is tom how do u hack runescape????" or "phr333 m0n3yz pl0x".

It's illegal though. sad.gif

Well, I'll post my personal experience on private servers.

Moparscape, by itself, is just basically a copy of runescape circa 2006, before the new interface. (2004,5,6 doesn't matter really)

Now they have 317, 377, 417, 477, 508, 525, and 545 servers, each based on ingame content.

For example, skillcape emotes came out for the 477 clients, but before then, they didn't exist.

You can, however, put items in the item database, and therefore have bandos (which is a 508 item) on a 317 server.

And not all servers are like mopar, where you get 99 everything in 5 minutes. Some, like I used to play, took actual skill, but still easier. For example, getting 99 fishing took a month or something, instead of a year. And you can still have a good economy and everything.

Did that help?

Fish takes a month to level to 99 in Runescape if you Shilo fish.

There are plenty of private servers that are simply easier than normal rs, and most focus around pking - because real rs simply doesn't supply the old fashioned way anymore. Most 508 servers (LD/HD) are the easiest - item spawning, pk set spawning, level commands etc. the 318 servers have high xp rates, but certainly do require some time and input.

'Mopar' is basically a word everyone says when they are jealous of a video/picture, and need some silly way to show it.
