Viral Outbreak: Conviction Part One
Survivor Interview #1
Subject Name: Johnny Robins
Gender: Male
Age: 31
Occupation: Umemployed/Inmate
So, your name is Johnny Robins, am I correct?
Yeah, but you can just call me John.
Where do you live, John?
Prison.
I mean before your imprisonment.
Don’t remember. Probably in a cardboard box in an alley. (Subject laughs)
You didn’t have a home?
I sold it when I ran out of money. I spent it all drinking and gambling.
I see. You were in prison when the outbreak occurred?
Yep. Not exactly a nice place to be when the living dead are walking trying to eat you. But it has its advantages.
Such as?
Guards… guns… a high wall surrounding the building…
That’s enough. So tell me, how did you get out of your cell?
I was sleeping when the sirens started wailing. I thought a riot was going on so I crawled out of bed and hid under it. I didn’t want to be stabbed, know what I mean?
I heard commotion outside. All the other inmates were shouting and screaming. I heard moaning too. I just stayed there. I looked outside my cell and I saw a lot of footsteps. I mean a whole sea of ‘em.
I saw someone fall to the ground. I could see it was an inmate and he was hanging on the bars of my cell. He saw me under the bed and he shouted at me for help. Before I could react, he was dragged into the center of the room outside and the sea of feet knelt down and feasted on his flesh. I couldn’t believe my eyes and I will never forget the image of the inmate reaching out for me as he was eaten alive.
I stayed under my bed, the ‘cannibals’ outside unaware of my presence. After what seemed like two hours, the sea of feet dwindled until there were just a few ‘cannibals’ left.
Just then, I heard gunfire. I recognized the sound of the gun, a shotgun. I heard a booted feet step into the room outside and began opening fire with the shotgun. I peeked from under my bed and boy was I glad to see that it was one of the prison guards that I had befriended in my time in the prison. A guy named Stevey Joe. The ‘cannibals’ slowly staggered towards him and I was shocked when one of their arms fell to the floor. Still, the monster kept moving without stopping. I could see Stevey firing into the ‘cannibals’.
Feeling safe ‘behind bars’, I crawled out and shouted to Stevey to try to aim for the head since any living thing can’t survive without a brain. Sure enough, a few shots and the monsters went down. Stevey said that he’ll be back so I just sat down on my bed as he went up some stairs. Soon, my cell door opened and I stepped outside.
It was a massacre. Blood was spattered everywhere and half eaten corpses littered the floor. I went back in my cell to the toilet and puked all my breakfast down the drain.
When we rescued you, you were alone. Where is this Stevey?
He’s dead. Once I got out of my cell, I heard footsteps and then more of ‘em stormed into the room. There were too many so I just ran through the door in the opposite side of the room which led to the cafeteria.
Stevey was right behind me but he slipped on some blood and fell down. The monsters were already on top of him feasting on his flesh. I just stood in the doorway, looking at the monsters tearing Stevey limb from limb and digging deep into his flesh.
Oh god. It was terrible! Stevey was a friend to me. He made my stay in prison as comfortable as he can! I should have helped him! He has a wife and kids! I don’t have a wife and kids so why should it be him and not me!? Why couldn’t it be me!? Why couldn’t it be me…? (Subject covers his face and sobs)
Do you need a break? Can I get you anything?
Can we continue the interview tomorrow?
I’m sure we can. Guards, please escort Mr. Robins to his quarters.
(Guards help Subject get out of the room. Subject still sobbing)
Interview will be continued.

I'm thinking of making this into a series with multiple interviews of different people. Please comment and tell me if I need to improve on something. I love constructive criticism.
