As many of you know, since the opening of PvP Worlds, ‘76k’ing has become a very common practice. We’ve never been happy about this as we believe it spoils the game experience for players who want to play on PvP Worlds as intended and exhibit their PvP skills, with high rewards for high risks, rather than it being a safe method for earning large amounts of money. Looking at our forums, it looks like many players feel the same way.

Designing and developing a solution to this issue that worked, but which did not lessen the rewards for legitimate kills, turned out to be rather tricky. We’re hopeful that the solution we’ve come up with will reduce 76King without having too significant an impact on legitimate PKers.

Players who trade kills will find that the drop they receive is lessened in value. Legitimate PKers might find that some of their kills will result in smaller drops (e.g. when getting revenge on someone who has just killed you), but since you’ll still only lose as much Earning Potential as is used for the drop, your average drop will stay the same.

Maybe some prices will go back down again? 76king increased the amount of materials just bought and wasted. Every time someone 76ked, it wasted at least 76k of items, so people were buying them like crazy.

This update is only effective if you have only one partner.

The only way I can think of to stop 76king is to remove cash drops, although someone could probably think of a better solution.

The easiest solution would be to limit the value of the drops to the amount of loss. If the killer had low ep the loot would go down from there.

Don't allow cash to be brought into bounty world wildy? This would make 76king a bit more complicated.

Good that they're trying to do something, but they need to get rid of cash drops, not 76king.

Yeah, for serious.

Stuff is crashing though. Black masks and whips for example. So at least it had some effect.

Give people 1-2 weeks and the smart ones 1-4 hours and almost all of them will have worked out a loop hole.

I don't understand why whips would crash because they were removed from the drop list months ago.

I kind of regret selling my most expensive stuff now (sans Barrows armor) because unless anything else is done everything's probably gonna rise again. Infinity Boots and Black Mask DID rise since I sold them. Whip lowered but for how long...?

By the way, if they were to remove the cash drops what would be good replacements? I'm thinking some treasure trail rewards. Very slight chance of getting third age? Maybe.

Or at least rewards similar to treasure trail rewards. Rune armor with a Zaros trim?

Now that would probably work best. Replace drops with armor of the other Gods, slight chance of third age, and then it becomes for the vast majority purely aesthetic and people are still willing to pay for the small incorporation of trims like so.

As a pker i am mad about this update. I have 26ked once or twice just to get start up money to make stuff. Now when I pk I am not going to get good drops.. That is some messed up stuff. Please correct me if I am taking this update in the wrong way (Like it is a different way not that you don't like my opinion)

I don't get this update at all, they just changed it so that it's now a 3-man team with the 76k'ing. They should have done this a while ago, Jagex seems to wait too long. Never tried the 76king since ep is hard to get for me, too much risk.

There are sacrifices JaGeX has to make, everything can't be perfect... just like in the real world.

Make a Runescape Law: 76k = banhammer. Have police =P It could be "exposing game mechanic" (a report option).

What's worrying is that only a few people seem to understand how to Runescape economy works and they are players not staff, even Andrew seems clueless about it

They have a whole system to rethink anyway, at least they've acknowledged that it needs fixing.

Yeah, they need to make a new rule that covers any intentional exploitation of a flawed system. This would cover not only 26k/76king, but merching as well.

Lett let me get this straight if you are pking and have lets say 100k vs someone with 100k. You will probably get crap for items from now on because they will think you are doing the 76k trick? Or is it, if you kill someone and they come right back and kill you the drop for them will suck.

Jagex need to choose an age group they are aiming for and stick with it. It seems like it used to be before all these crappy updates the age group was anywhere from 13-20. Now with all these little updates they seem to be trying to get 8-15 year old. Anyone else agree?

Hmmmmmm....to combat RWT, no update can truly fix PvP I think. JaGEx is working hard to try to keep the game fair and balanced towards all players.
Also, did anyone note the dip the RSConomy has taken since the update? All GSs have gone down by a ton!
