Neo Avatars

A dark house portal has appeared to the south of Falador once again. Tremble as you approach it, for it leads to the house of the Grim Reaper, Death himself!

In this year's Halloween event, Death has a problem with an uninvited guest. Choose to help out and you will journey to a realm rarely trod by creatures with only two feet, and converse with its irritable monarch.

Completing the event will reward you with two new wearable items – one of which has a mind of its own – so seek out the house of Death...if you dare!

We've also created a wallpaper based on this event, which you can download here.

We’ve made some improvements to the way banks calculate your free space. Free-players who used to be members will no longer have to dump all their members items to be able to use their banks and everyone can now see their usage in more detail on the interface. For more information, please read the Controls - Banks page.

We've updated the bank to make it automatically resize to fit your screen better. The interface will automatically extend downwards to show you more of your bank items.

Zahur in Nardah, who's moved to the building east of the bank, will now decant all of your potions (in any combination) into 3-dose vials for you. He charges a small fee for this service to cover the cost of any extra vials needed.

We've swapped two tasks in the Ardougne Achievement Diary. The medium diary might look a little odd if you've already completed it, but you should still be able to wear the cloaks for their effects.

An auto re-pick feature has been added when harvesting your mushrooms, berries and fruit from Farming patches.

When collecting a single item at the Grand Exchange, left-click will now withdraw the actual item and right-click will withdraw it as a note. Withdrawals for multiple items will behave as before.

I have to say, the maze thing was the best part. Otherwise it was so boring and simple...

There is absolutely no reason to do this quest.

The reward is a spider you can talk to, play with, and wield
and a cape that has no emote and or boosts.

The cape is awful looking.

The spider is kinda fun though

Awful event. This is a travesty.
First, why no emote? We've had a new emote every event for at least a year, right? I could think of 10 ideas right off the bat for emotes related to spiders.
Second, why no xp reward? Last Halloween was great because of the xp reward. And it doesn't give an unfair advantage to players because it's based on the level, not a flat amount.
Third, why does the cape do nothing? Last Halloween, we got a broom that teleports members to the Sorceress's Garden as well as gave us Magic experience.
Handgunroy
Anyone got a picture of the cape?
Wondering if I should abandon my slayer task to do this..

Those rewards were from the halloween quest - this is a holiday event. There's a big difference. Firstly, holiday quests are available even after the holiday season has passed, and they can give exp and teleports and those nice things. Unlike holiday events, which have no requirements, no exp rewards, no gameplay rewards, and they can never be done again after the holiday season has passed. Which is kinda the point.

This is what all holiday event were like until last year... Personally, I loved the event, and the rewards were better than many others, even though the cape looked horrible. This is my fifth halloween event, so I've seen quite a few holiday events I can compare this to.

Poor Zynk, what are you going to do?

Well, while it doen't affect me directly, maybe my friend will finally get on since quitting members. Cannot do the event yet - the computor I am on is really slow and I would like to do the quest in HD.

Knowledge base >> Bank >> Free and Member Bank Space << I suggest you read that tongue.gif But I'm gonna go ahead and guess that you have more than 68 freeplay items in your bank, in which case it won't allow to store any more free items. wink.gif

I've only just read the messages here, and only talked to Death.... But... I'm rethinking this whole thing... If there's no rewards, emotes or quest pts, etc... why bother?! Bad holiday event then.... And this would have been my first since joining too.... hmmmmm

You never get Quest Points for these events, the rewards are a web cape and Eek the Spider. You also unlock previous halloween event emotes if you don't have them.

Ok, I AM really disappointed. I heard of all the kewl rewards in previous holiday events... and this being my first one, all I get is a lousy non working cape and a spider? What good are they? ... unless they have powers... which from what I read they don't.

VERY disappointed
TehBlackDrag
Quick ideas for how to improve the rewards

You should be able to access the spider realm afterwards and the agility bit should be an actual agility course.

The spider should be able to use it's web on other players, it would not do damage but be entirely for visual effect like the snowballs.

The cape should have all the black bits taken out so it is actually a cape made from a web rather than a cape with a web painted on.
Peace
Been waiting for this to get back into RS... kindof disappointed- but it was fun! biggrin.gif

The event overall was great. The rewards weren't that great.. wished they would have atleast given us an emote.

Yeah that would've been cool sad.gif

The cloak reminds me of the chocatrice easter event reward.
Spider reminds me of the zombie head event from a few years ago.

Are they recycling?

I guess I'll do the event when I get around to it. The events look better than last years'.

I keep reading this from the Web of Shadows page:

"With the house completed and looking suitably spooky, a trip to the Spider Queen will end the matter. There are rewards in it for the more mercenary Hallowe'enites, of course. "

Does this mean there is other rewards?.....

Edit: Oh, think I was reading it wrong.....Guess it just means "actual rewards if the experience wasn't rewarding enough"

lol nice explanation.

too busy with other stuffs. and halloween will last for a week. so ill do it later (or never).

and im too diapointed with the rewards.

Took so long to complete, it seems the Holiday Events have been going downhill since 2007.

I liked the old ones with some real skill required, and were short. These new ones are long and prove nothing. People from levels 3-138 can get it just as easily, which i suppose is fair, but takes some of the fun out of it.

Also, spiderwebbing 64 pieces of furniture was enough to drive me crazy...

The rewards now....oh gosh

I don't mind the cloak, i wish it had an emote though, which would have made it beter. It looks pretty good with skeleton outfit from a few h'weens ago (my favorite h'ween btw) and a Skull Sceptre.

The spider is just pointless. The second he hopped into my inventory i knew i would have to keep him after the event. First, it's too small so you cant really see what happens when you play with it. I wish it was more like the zombie head you could talk to, becuase Eek never says anything funny or new.

Overall i think it was a decent to poor event. The quest should have been shorter, and the rewards could have been much better.

Pfft, no emote. closedeyes.gif

I really enjoyed the event this year though.

Okay..this has to be the worst holiday event ever yet...the event itself was okay...not exciting at all and kinda boring; show no sign of engagement...hehe another agility preview... but the reward...come on...all I got is a cape that does nothing but show...not even a emote (with the cape or separate...)...I guess some ppl find it matching and nice-looking...personally...I think it can better...

and don't let me mention the spider...opps too late...she's sorta cool? another summoning preview...this time actually a permanent one... I would like it if she can do something cooler than just run around on my arm or make a extra long thong...like maybe following me on the ground perhaps?... or as someone else mentioned being able to spray web in player's face...lol...

I'm not sure but I want my snow imp back too...can't decide who's better...lol...

Jagex you better give us something double good this Christmas...
