I want to upload this as my avatar.

It's 24.3 KB. Last time I checked the limit is 25 KB. However, when I try to upload it, I get this message:

The total filespace required to upload all the attached files is greater than your per post or global limit. Please reduce the number of attachments or the size of the attachments.

I'm confused... Can anyone help me out with this?

Simple, it's oversized dimensions Get it down to 25 x 25, or whatever the limit is. tongue.gif

The filesize isn't the problem, it' the actual size, know it down to size!:

But the message clearly says it's the filesize... And doesn't the upload usually resize itself?

...Did you even read my comment? It really irks me when people don't.

Your comment says to get the avatar to whatever the dimensions limit is (as in lengthxwidth), which he doesn't need to do, since the avatar is automatically resized.

(This will scale the image down for you if it's too big in pixel size)

His problem is that the uploader doesn't recognize that his file is under 25kb.

So is there some way for the mods to override it or something? It's really annoying...

Have you tried resizing it to fit the dimensions anyway?
Redicaluss
Yes, but I still get the same message.

Most probably the forum tried to autoresize the avatar, ended up with a >25KB image (it can happen) and gives you that error. Try saving it in PNG (PNG-8 if you want to save something on filesize, since it's a .gif already and no colour information will be lost) and 120x120 pixels already. You can ask some folks over by the graphics place to do so if you can't do it yourself. tongue.gif

I just tried and it worked because it's about 1/2 the file size. I'm not sure what caused the error to come up though.
