I saw a guide on this site were it's possible to have Adamant Gloves at 1def? Do I need a quest to be able to wear em?

Yes, you still have to do enough quests in RFD.

Well yeah, obviously you have to do RFD up to adamant gloves, sadly you can't go past addy gloves (Heroes' Quest and Nature Spirit, each a pre-req for the other 2 subquests of RFD, give def).
You used to have to do a glitch to get addy gloves as you couldn't go to ape atoll normally without claiming defense exp from MM, but they patched that so you can do it without a glitch now.
