So me and my dad tried to get our old computer (Windows XP 2003 Home Edition) running again, however we are trying to get the wireless network to connect to the computer. The computer accepts that the adapter is in the computer, but it can't access the internet no matter how we try.
What it does occasionally the computer gets the signal from the wireless and it ends up disconnecting seconds later more or less likely it drops the connection.
The only computer things I can supply are the computer model (Windows XP 2003 Home Edition) and the wireless' model number (WRT54G2 V1) everything else we are unable to obtain because we have no way to show the information.

Is it possible that you're just out of range?

My wii is right next to it so it is in range.

Older cards (especially if they're using wireless b) are going to have worse range. The Wii probably has better range than it.
Try moving the computer closer just to test it. If the same problem happens, move it back.

We found the problem it wasn't picking up a signal because we had one of the cables not in the right place. It works now, we just gotta find speakers >_>.
