Even with the large numbers of registered members I don't find much activity in sal's.
Why is this so?
Have people lost their interest or aren't there any interesting topics?

Part of the reason is blogs and such, it means that no one ever even has to notice they are in Sals anymore

Back in the day there used to be loads of stuff to read, see and answer in the lounge, gen. discussion and debate rooms...now with it all being hidden away it just seems like there is nothing

On the upside, it's much easier to keep track of things now though.

all i get keep track is of how long it has been since someone posted something in a topic that i did.....
i was so busy in sals at first that i didnt step out of the market place for like 6 months after joining because i thought i couldn't keep track of anything

We're definietly not dieing, but activity sure isn't what it was in the summer (But that's to be expected).

Some sections of the forum are literally dead. RuneScape Marketplace, Clan Discussion and Graphics Mixed Media for example only have a few active posters and most topics only have 2-3 replies. It's the result of more and more active members being banned, losing interest in RuneScape or moving to bigger forums.

Tons of people who were active got banned recently and the whole clan community is gone which decreases traffic a bit.

My guess is your response is only part of the problem (if it is a problem at all). You really want to give an answer to the umpteenth time someone asks how to get to 60 range? Or discuss the updates for higher levelled player tor the zillionth time? Any RS forum has that same problem and only the 'new people' act the way 'the oldies' did in the olden days. Sounds logical, no?

I think it relates back to Runescape a lot also. While Runescape is still very popular, it has lost a lot of it's interest/appeal from a few years ago. Back when it was still fairly fresh it ran ads all over the place (like so many mmo's you see now) and was bringing in a constant stream of new players, and thus more people looking for runescape help sites. Nowadays Runescape almost seems more like a large group of goal oriented veteran players and less "hey a cool game I'm gonna explore it" newbies.

I think people are looking in the wrong areas for idle chit-chat and discussion. I rarely venture out of general chat or the 'scape lounge so I see no real problem in numbers of forum activity it's still quite health.
I'm not too sure about the RS bit but I'm sure logs are still around?

I agree. I've noticed that only at around 4-5PM+ (my time, GMT+1) that people actually start posting.
I think it's mainly the summer ending, or people have just, moved on. I hope it's not the latter

Agreed.
I became less active here partly because Runescape is certainly not what it was a few years ago (maybe it peaked back then who knows) and secondly university takes so much time out of your life when you do a course relating to any engineering or medicine etc.

Logs are usually active. After a day or two, my log goes to page 2.

I am inactive basically due to the fact that my school work just never seems to go away and I can never get a break. I come on here and there to try to be active, but other than that it's a real challenge. Things will pick up around Christmas break around here because we all have limited schoolwork/work on those days.

What was your first clue? I don't really post anymore. Maybe in Clan Discussion, but that's it.
Sal's dying?

Heard that a lot before, thought that before too.
Anyway for me, I lurk in the blogs because things have changed so much when I 'came back' that I'm totally bewildered, and hence reluctant to post.

And every forum has its seasons of activity and when it's quieter in my opinion.

I haven't noticed a lot of newer member activity in the past few months... It does seem to get monotonous at times, with the same people doing the same thing, posting the predictable responses to different topics...
But then something happens and it gets pretty interesting again. I wouldn't say it's dying, but it's definitely different than what it used to be. Maybe it's just because I'm an older member and know the forum better, but it seems more stable and "uppity".

Pixel art and Mixed media are almost dead (with the exception of Kingy and his bunny kit =/, and me.)
Those are the only "dead" areas i use, so i cant critisize the other ones.

I blame school.
I say we all sit out of school so that we can actively post here.

I say its just on a downslide, in the summer it'll start revving up.

I find it frustrating that whenever Sal's is most inactive is when I'm most active. I preferred it when there was a lot more posts in areas like General RuneScape Discussion. As far as I can think of, Skill Logs and The 'Scape Lounge are probably the areas with the most amount of posts.

Is this thread going to be the epitome of complaints for a couple of weeks until we find something else we want to try and pick a flaw in? Honestly Sal's Realm is fine, if loads more people become active again or new people suddenly join how quick do you think it will be before people start complaining about it not being Sal's Realm anymore because it's to busy. Either just be happy with the situation, try and fix it in your own little weird way or leave it.
