I slayed the dragon with a rune battleaxe at level 42. I was wondering when you guys slayed it, and if we could make a pool of advice for players yet to slay it.

My advice would be to follow the guide here at Sal's.

Don't mage the dragon, or try to kill it with range in f2p as the f2p crossbow sucks and you'll die if you don't use a shield. There are no more safe spots in the lair.

Basicly, bring good food (recommend tuna or above), tele runes if you have the mage lvl, full addy armor with anti shield and you best rune weapon. I recommend something with a high stab bonus, as that it wat dragons are least resistant to. You can bring an addy weapon, but you won't hit as high or as much. What levels and combat you have is what really makes the difference generally though if you have 35+ all melee stats and use the above tips you should beat her easily.

Most important tip I can give is DON'T DIE WITH THE HEAD!!! IF YOU DIE WITH THE HEAD YOU HAVE TO FIGHT HER AGAIN!!!

You can defeat her with lower stats or armor/weapons or food. And tele runes are definately an option, not a requirement. To be on the safe side, though you should prepare to fight her similarly to the advice above. She is not that difficult and you will easily die if you prepare right.

One final piece of advice is that I strongly recommend you unlock the secret door in that dungeon. To do that, follow the hallway in the direction opposite of where you came in. Go past the skeletons and lessers until you see a small hallway blocked by a wall. Right click the wall and pass through it, and your character will be able to use this shortcut in the future.

I defated it 3 years ago when i first got members with 40 range and a mith cbow and bolts, i was under level 40 as i was doing this to get into pest control

I was lvl 40-45...don't remember, was too long ago. Used a rune sCimmy (as in scimitar, not skimitar)

I used Full addy at level 38 with lobsters. I had a strength potion but I didn't know how to use it so I drank it all at once. I home tele'd with the head. I really did LOL when it respawn. Oh, the good ol' days xD

I was 22 with an Iron Scimitar I have like 40 Strength and I was using Recoils and I had a Venger

The earliest time I remember killing Elvarg was around lvl 40-50ish. I used a Frog Prince outfit with a Rune Mace.

I did it when there was no head... 2005? I killed it at around level 39-40ish. I used an adamant sword that I stole from a person that died.
Apparently I lost my Rune Longsword somewhere before.

I was level 51 with a rune scimitar.

I fished an entire inventory of lobs, I was overprepared.

I was level 60 and I used Saradomin Strike, with no food or melee armor.

Level 50 or around there and by using range to kill it. There is 1 secret safe spot for ranging.

Great times killing it. However, it wasn't very hard, it's was just scary because I was thinking: "Omg, I'm fighting a Dragon 40 levels higher than me and can hit 30s!" I was kinda proud killing it, killing the toughest F2P Monster.

when i first started playing, my friend helped me alot with my account.
He walked me through dragon slayer quite easily.

I did it no problem with range at level 40-50 range? + rune scim.

I killed Elvarg at level 52-ish... walked out of the arena having completed the quest at level 54. Yep, I slayed Elvarg before there was a beheading, and you got the XP as soon as she died.

I had full adamant, and used a Rune Longsword.

I was a member when I did it so I had antifires,addy cbow,forgot what bolts thoe i think mith bolts.. so it was very easy.

Hellhounds are in the BH crater now

Anyway, when I did it it was with my trusty adamant battleaxe and some mixed-bag armour that was about half-and-half mithril and addy. Good times.

CB level 44 but almost 45 - ate 6 apple pies - i had a pack ful,but ate too many as it was -
all the hype/nervous/excitement the game made me feel was a bit over dramatic.
Elvarg died & the head was automatically severed n placed in my pack-
sadly i wandered around awhile trying to rebuild the ship.
* i had no idea about sals site then.
the ppl i asked on the island [other players] laffed at me,but gave no "helpful" reply.
finally it occurred to me to tele home - i and my head walked to Oziack n all was well - - -

Now its SO easy with the fantastic guides here on sal's
my sister printed them out & has made a binder book to refer to while she plays with my Mom,other sister and whoever asks "help me on Dragon slayer please?"

i only wish i could visit Elvarg again and cut him/her once more -
well there is always room for "one more time"

I'd contend that revenant knights are the hardest freeplay NPC.

I killed it when I was level 61. I don't remember much about my equipment barring that I had a rune longsword. One of my higher leveled friends convinced me to go, saying that he did it twenty levels lower than me and had no problems. He gave me a bunch of free swordfish, but I only ate two

I did it at 61, completed for 63. Never been 62 combat xD

I was pretty scared to begin with, elliekins hit 12-12-11-10 to start, so I spammed swordfish and survived
I wore full rune (chainbody not platebody), had about 40 attack and defence, 50 strength and 50 hp.
