I have an option too get 1x2 512MB ram sticks plus my 2x2 1GB, is it worth it too add the extra ram on for 90$?

In the UK, you can get a 1gb stick for about £15. I think 90 AUD (about £50) is a little pricey...

In the US, RAM costs between 20 and 50 bucks, so yes, that is quite the rip off.
Look around, there should be cheaper.

I don't know much about computers, but I think you are getting very ripped off for 90 AUD.

Why not buy it somewhere else? Dell aren't exactly the best for value.

EDIT: The RAM that is, not the computer tongue.gif Just in case you misunderstood.

What you could do is stick to the base RAM that you get from your build at Dell, and just go and buy some RAM at a local computer shop.

When your computer arrives, install the purchased RAM to the computer and your set to go.

The ram you're buying is Sd ram. I have it too. Iy's a nightmare. :[

I'd need to know the type of ram and clock speed to tell you how badly you're getting ripped off, but you most definitely are; $90 AUD is ~$83.50 USD, and 1gb of ram here is usually less than $20.
Can you post the link to where you build this computer? I'd like to see what's going on here.

I don't know if it is a good deal here, but I think it's worth noting that in Australia, everything is more expensive. Videogames (for example) start a good $50 more here than they do in the US.

I have 12Gb of RAM, and my entire computer was $3000AU. I don't know if $90 is worth it to be honest.

PS: i live in auss too
