What's the font that people use in the underbanner things?
The font is known as "Visitor". You can find it here.

So where can I find cool fonts?
Right here, like I said before.

But how do I actually get the fonts working and stuff?
Download the font file from dafont. If it isn't a ZIP file, just save it to your C:\WINDOWS\Fonts folder. If it is a ZIP file, open the zip and extract it to the same folder. Then, go to the control panel and open the fonts section. Then close it, and it should be working.

Where's a good place I can host my images?
ImageShack. Check this guide to see how to upload an image on there.

How do I take a screenshot?
To take a screenshot, press the button on your keyboard that looks like this:
prt scr Then, go into Paint or whatever graphics program you use and press ctrl-V. Make sure you crop it!

How do I crop something in Paint?
Use the select tool and drag around the place you want to be shown. Do not select the places you want to crop off. Press ctrl-C. Then, go to File > New. Press ctrl-V and you got it!

I'm confused! I'm trying to save something and there's all this stuff like BMP and JPEG and TIFF! What should I use?
I suggest you use PNG, it's the highest quality form of image and takes very little space. JPEG takes even less space, but you can't save high-quality JPEGs in Paint.

How do I pixel?
Learn from looking. Zoom in closely on other people's works of pixel art. Look at their technique. Look at how they do it. That's how I learned.

I need help with shading the stuff I wanna pixel. Help?
It's simple. Pick out the basic standard color of what you want to shade. Then, get a darker shade, and make a lot of that color on one side, and a little bit on the other side. Then, get an even darker color, and make more on the side where you put a lot of the second shade.

Where can I get a free version of Photoshop?
Download a trial version from the Adobe Website

Is there any other GFX program that's good but free?
http://gimp.org/ The GNU Image Manipulation Program. Powerful stuff.

What exactly do I have to download to get GIMP and where do I find it?
If you're running Windows, download the GIMP and GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment. You can get them here.

Do Photoshop tutorials work with The GIMP?
No. Unless you can figure out how to improvise. You can also visit GIMP forums or google GIMP tutorials.

How do I make the background of something transparent in Photoshop?
Use the magic wand tool, and select the background. Then press delete. Save your image as a PNG or GIF, and it's now transparent. Note that Internet Explorer does not support the alpha channel (transparency) in PNGs, Firefox does, though.

Where can I find some good brushes for Photoshop?
http://metal-cx.deviantart.com/gallery/ Metal-CX. He's awesome. Makes awesome brushes. 1337. You can also browse the rest of the Deviantart brushes gallerys for PS.

But how do I actually install these brushes?
Download the brush files. If it's a ZIP file, extract the files to the Adobe\Presets\Brushes folder. It it's just the brush files, simply download them to the same folder. Then, open Photoshop. Press on the brush tool, and look at the top. Bring down the brush selection menu, and click on that small arrow pointing to the right enclosed in a circle. Press "Load Brushes". Simply select the brushes you downloaded and you're set!

Where can I find some Photoshop tutorials?
http://www.good-tutorials.com/ They're good tutorials.
DeviantArt is also another good place

But I have some more questions about Photoshop!
If you have a question about programs, images or anything else relating to graphics, make a post in the Graphics Discussion & Questions sub-forum and someone will answer your question.

Where can I find the Buddykit Three?
BuddyKit FOrums Right there, the official BK forums. You have to register before you can get the BK3, though.

How do I center my signature and stuff?
CODE
[center]*PUT STOF HERE*[/center]
You can also replace center with right and stuff. No point in aligning it to the left, it's defaultly done.

Where do I find those underbanners that say "Woodcutter For Life", "Follower of Guthix", etc?
They were made by Triza from RuneHQ, they can be seen here. Many GFX artists on this forum can also make custom underbanners, so feel free to request a custom in Ratings and Requests.

Where can I get one of those sigs that shows my stats?
They are called stat sigs, and many sites have them. Some can be found at IceFuzion, Rsbandb, and RuneWeb.

Where can I get those goal sigs that show one stat and how close I am to my goals?
Those are from Rsbandb, and can be found here. You must register at their forums to use them.

Where can I get a sig rotator?
Register on a site like UzziSoft or AvaSig and upload your signatures there.

How can I find out what the file size of my signature is?
Check this guide. It explains how to find how large your sig is and if it is over the limits.

How do I convert PSD (Photoshop brushes) files to GIMP?
Look at this tutorial for more information. The script link does not work any longer but can be found
here

*If you use GIMP 2.28 and above, you are able to open Photoshop brush files(ABR files).
Then you can "convert" Photoshop brushes to GIMP much more easily by
opening the pPS(ABR file) brush, set white colour to transparent, save as a gimp brush.
Still recommended that you use the script however.

How can I create an underbanner using GIMP?
Watch this movie, created by Drop Of Life, it should explain how to make one. This tutorial is also helpful.

My signature is over the limit. How can I save it at good quality but low file size?
Try saving using these settings.

*This method may not always work successfully.

Well like I said, I'm not the one who made the FAQ so I wouldn't know. Ask some of the other GFX artists.

And venomblood, on your tools palette there is a brush tool there. The icon is ...well ...a brush.
Venomblood
But whenever I brush it just is a bunch of black lines! Do I HAVE to download brushes to do the cool sigs people make?
Steve
Yes, you need to download different brushes to make different things. Or you can use the filters (just play around with them.. a lot)

The http://www.avataravenue.com/ site is closed! make sure you add that.
Steve
QUOTE(AvatarAvenue)
As you may already know, AvatarAvenue.com closed last week. The main reason this site was closed is that it has become too difficult to monitor the types of files being uploaded. The potential for abusing our system left us open to liability issues which we are no longer interested in dealing with.

We initially closed the site entirely, thinking that everyone would have backups of the images and avatars they uploaded to our server. This has not been the case. Because we had many users who lost their images, we decided to open the site to allow users to grab their images.

Please log in to your account now and save your images to your own computer!

This site will shutdown on May 5, 2006. If you have friend or family that use this site, please let them know we are closing. E-mail will be sent to every e-mail address we have on file, however, many users signed up with false addresses, making it impossible to contact them.

Thank you for using AvatarAvenue.com during the past year. We are sorry we had to close, and hope you can understand our reasons for this decision.

whats a sig rotator? slanty.gif

It will choose a random sig every time it loads. So, for example, if I had 3 sigs (sig1, sig2, and sig3) in the rotator, then every time you view my sig it could be any of those three sigs. The first time you load it it might be sig1, but then the next time it might change to sig2, and then sig1 again, then sig3. Its random.
