Since people have so many suggestions for the forum, this thread will be used to organize them. Below is a list of all kinds of suggestions: those that have been accepted, others which are still being debated by the mod team, and those that have been rejected for a certain reason.
We're still in the process of editing and adding on to this thread, so feel free to remind us about anything we might have missed. However, keep in mind that this thread is not for new forum suggestions. If you have a suggestion for the forum, please make a completely new topic.
Implemented:- Multi-Language Guides
- Combat Calculators: These will be created in the future.
- Restrictions for new members: Any posts made by New Members with 5 posts or less must be approved by a staff member first if they contain a link or image. This means that until a mod or admin approves the post, it will be invisible to everyone.
- Banning forum members on request: A forum member can request to be suspended indefinitely (but not banned).
- Homework Helpline
- Reform of "Clan Headquarters" forum
- Display Name Change Warning.
- Turning the Wilderness forums into a Minigame forum.
- Changing the Display Name time period to two changes in 180 days.
- Avatar Gallery.
- Converting all screenshots on the site to HD: Post any you have in this topic.
Under Consideration:Rejected:- Custom member titles for forum members/Personal photo: The ability to change your member title and have a personal photo is a privilege for the DMs, Mods, and Admins.
- Member of the Month: Negative (green) warns make this unnecessary.
- Sectional Moderators: The moderating team will make all decisions about whether to add moderators.
- Fake Group, GFX Group, etc.: It's up to the moderating team to discuss whether new groups are needed.
- Removal of certain smilies: Extra smilies do no harm.
- Forum Clan: This would be too difficult to organize and maintain, so Sal's has no official clans.
- Closing own topics in the marketplace: DMs already have this power.
- COPPA [Children's Online Privacy Protection Act]: We have already decided against using COPPA.
- Rants Forum: These threads fit under General RS Discussion.
- Advertising Forums: Anyone can advertise in their signature.
- Love Helpline: This is not a dating forum.
- Shoutbox or IRC Chat.
- Lowering display name change time period.
- Sports forum/topic: This fits under Entertainment.
- Expanding the site into other games.
- Post limits in the 'Scape Lounge.
- Crowns for staff members: To avoid any possible confusion with Jagex staff.
- Guides for game aspects that have yet to be released.
- Removing Post Count: The Staff have decided against removing post count.
- YouTube BBCodes: It's been suggested a huge number of times, and will be added in future forum versions anyway.
- Increased signature / avatar sizes: Use image compression methods to drop the filesize!
- Lowering the number of smilies allowed in a post: It would cause more problems than it would solve.
- Closing own topics.

Am I the only one confused here? What exactly does this mean?
Steve
Jan 28 2007, 11:36 AM
I think what that means is it is being discussed by the moderators (or was at one point) so you shouldn't suggest it because they're already discussing it. Except, I think a while ago it was said that they had been discussing it and decided against it.

Actually I think it means a full fledged forum clan has been rejected but bringing back like the MMAPKERS and other clans like that is being discussed at least from my stand point

Things like the UCS are forbidden I guess. For the obvious reasons.

MMAPKers and HB and the old "Sal clans" are still allowed I guess.

Because they aren't a "forum clan" in which *everyone* on the forum belongs to.

The USC wasn't a clan that everyone on the forum was in, either. You had to apply to join, just like any other clan.
What were MMAPKers and HB?

What were MMAPKers and HB?
They were sub division forum clans.
In other words seperate Sals clans, each was run by a mod or admin. HB as you can see is HateBreeds, that was Zamorack & Zaros Clan for the forum at the time, where as MMAPKERS were Saradomin, Ikov, and Armadyl. We also had some for the other gods and goddesses in rs if I recall correctly. You could be in the forum clan and another clan as the forum clans of these only operated on Sals forums, also was a good way to release anger. I think Snowzak led MMAPKrs.

The difference is that although we've rejected the idea of a forum clan, we're open to suggestions about how to reform the already existing clan boards.

I heard MMAPkers may be born again.
HB, as you well know, already is. However it seems to me that HB is operating like any other RS clan...I used the word "Sal clan" as in it was mostly made from Sal members and was mostly based here. Apologies for any confusion regarding different interpretations of terms.

By your definination, Crusaders by Huzzamaster was a "Sals clan" too?
@Steve, ahh okay, my bad. Meant it like RuneVillage's though. Like the clan was governed by the Forums Admins and Mods etc.

Removing the theme topics. We already discussed about its removal several times, these topics are useless and redundant, as for everyone who says it is a holiday theme - IT IS a SEASONAL THEME.

I think there should be administrators for each section of the forum. There could be a few for the questions, a few for teh webstie submissions, a few for the suggestions, etc. Their priviidelages (I know the spelling is wrong) would be less than the regular moderators, but they would still have more than the normal forum member. It would take stress off the admins and mods, while still letting them do their job.

Damaged, the idea you are proposing is sectional moderators and is already on the rejected list. As stated there, the moderator team will decide if they need more people and if so, they will decide if section moderators are necessary.

They are under copyright.
As far as guides go, here's a basic schematic:
- Brief Overview
- Introduction to getting started
- More in-depth what to do
- Rewards (points)
- Awards (what you spend points on)

I think that an official IRC chat should be added to the rejected list. Its got the same problems as a shoutbox, plus a few more.

You could add Official clan chat to the implimented list since the others are all fake, And maybe next to "Shoutbox or IRC Chat" in the rejected collumn you could add the reason that we will not add this is because we already have an official clan chat on Rs.

Somethings you might want to change in the other category, Just as long as they are more organized it should be easier for new members to find what their suggestion is under.
