When I can afford it, I'm going to buy a Zamorak Spear. I currently have no combat gear, so what would some good armour be to go with it?
My stats are:
70 Attack
62 Strength
62 Defence
62 Magic
66 Hitpoints.

Money might not be an option, so say what you think will be best, and don't let the cost constrict your opinion.

Don't sell your armor to buy a weapon.  Always have enough to buy armor, THEN the weapon.  Might sound silly, but it is smart.  Just buy dragon plateskirt, since you cant afford platelegs, and a rune / rockshell platebody.

I never said I sold my armour to buy the weapon. And I want some decent armour.
I'm getting 99 Woodcutting, which will get me around another 27M. I'm leaning towards Bandos Boots, Helm of Neizinot, and I don't know what else.
And who said I couldn't afford anything good?

as you say 27m from 99 woodcutting i can tell you it will take an extremely long time with yews/mages and you will most likely give up. Also a whip is truely more effective than a z spear, the only place the spear is more effective is killing waterfiends, which you hardly have the levels to do. For armor torags (any melee barrow pieces) or bandos.
Nonickname: Will thicken on standing. May contain traces of nuts or soy products.

I would prefer a little more detail, nonick.
I will definately get the Zamorak Spear, and possibly a whip as well.
I forgot to mention, I'll also be buying a Fury.

Whip = Cheaper, faster, more secure price, more readily available, shield option available, more accurate, stronger hits, better special attack. The zamorak spear is only useful for waterfiends really, which are vulnerable to crushing attacks, and extremely resistant to everything else. Though it is up to you, personally i'd buy a whip. And with woodcutting? i know from experience, and have friends who *tried* to get 99 on yews or mages, and failed abysmally. The fury is a good choice. For armor i'd reccomend;

Barrows melee equipment
Fighter torso
Dragon legs
Neitiznot, berserker or warrior helm
Dragon boots
the best rfd gaunts you have
Legends/obby/skill/firecape
bandos equipment (or dragon) if you feel like wasting the money on it, though if you aren't hugely rich don't bother.
And if your extremely determined on getting 99 wc and earning 27m from it, i'd take a godsword and barrows melee stuff over bandos armor anyway.

good Luck with wc and finding the correct equipment :aware:

You may have friends who have failed abysmally, but I have a friend who got it via Yews and a friend who is getting it via Yews who I will won't quit on it. And I am quite determined. I'll probably choose Bandos Boots ahead of Dragon boots. I am considering going with Ok/Barrows Armour and get a BGS rather than have really decent armour and a good-ish weapon.
If I do go with Barrows, which sets should I go with?

You'll be forever with it, but feel free to try and fall. And why bandos boots over dragon? +1 defence, 4 less strength for 1.5m more..good choice [/sarcasm]. If you are using the barrows melee equipment, it's all the same except round 10 less def on guthan skirt and round 40 less on brassy.
