I found it best at 80+, because by then your stats should be high enough that less money is wasted on dispensable items such as food. The best way to go about making money with Slayer is to just complete all of your tasks, don't worry about what level you need to get. Eventually, you should notice that any runes or other stackables you've received along the way can be sold for quite a lot of money, so the only way you're going to lose money with slayer is if you use a cannon all of the time or use Piety/Chivalry on your tasks.

At 58+ it starts to become profitable, with Cave Horrors.

+1 Sold all my rune items the other day and made 3m or thereabouts.

And then the countless clue scrolls and the Rune Platebody (t)s etc. :(

Actually you can slay banshees at as low as slay 15, noted pure essence and herb drops make these quite decent moneymaker. Especially the Mighty Banshees, after you've done Smoking Kills.

Slayer, after lvl 65 is profitable, around 100k  per task, unless u get banshees, but dont think that their low level doesnt drop good stuff but im sure u can make a profit.

Of course you could get different amounts of cash, its basically luck and persevering on slayer.

if you pick up all the high herbs, slayer makes decent money all the way through.  Nearly all the money I've made from slayer is not from rare drops, but if thats only what your counting, then it starts at cave horrors.

during some tasks lose you money, while others make you a fortune. but here are a couple notable tasks (for about your slayer lvl):
turoth-lots of herbs+seeds
fire giants-herbs, battle staves, rune scimmys
jellys-clues
cave horrors-herbs/seeds and the rare mask
blue dragons-hides/bones
banshees-herbs/pure ess

i can average about 70k per task.

it may not seem like alot, but it piles up.

and another question, while i was on a task i saw some pple alching. i assumed that they were alching some monster drops. shuld i do that?

If you are strong enough to not have to use a bunyip, or are using guthans, then you can also bring a beast of burden to carry any drops.  On tasks that are easy for me, that I need no food on, I'll bring a war tortoise, and just collect everything.  As Eggy said, high alch equipment is useful.  I also bring my explorer's ring to low-alch the stuff that I wouldn't want to waste a nat on, like a mith shield or stuff like that. Besides the high herbs, if you collect the low herbs, you can also make a nice amount from that.  In my drop the other day I think I dropped a few hundred k worth of tarromins and guams I picked up off the floor.
Random stats: 713th person to get 99 farm, 2nd Slammer to get 99 farm

Summoning familiar, I think.

There's a lot of completely different answers here, so lets see if I can bring some method to the madness.  I run a money making site, and one of the members recently uploaded a guide on how to make money with slayer.  Here's some of the best creatures to slay:

Hope that helps. :box:

It's a summoning familiar, available at level 68.  It heals 2 hp every 15 seconds, and last 44 minutes per pouch.  It's scrolls also let you eat a raw fish, so it's sometimes good to take a few of them if the monster you're killing drops some.

I have made all of my money pretty much through slayer.  If you keep all the higher lvl herbs, all runes, all rune weapons and armour and alch the addy and lower you should make at least some profit.  I fish my own food for training so I don't spend any money on tasks unless the task calls for me to pray the whole time, then I spend money on pray pots.  I can usually make around 100-150k per task.
