It has recently come to my attention that our old InvisionFree forum (open in 2004-2005) has been hijacked. The main admin account was compromised, giving the individual full access to the administration interface, including usernames, email addresses and IP addresses of members registered on that board. It is possible that the intruder manually reset some members' passwords to gain access to their old forum accounts to read their messages. However, as there is no way to access the forum database through InvisionFree, no passwords were compromised.
If you registered an account on our old InvisionFree board between November 2004 and November 2005, I highly recommend making sure that your email account is secured with a strong password and a strong security answer. This is also the time to make sure your RuneScape account is secure with a strong, unique password, unguessable security answers, and a bank pin.
However, I can not stress it enough: please make sure your online accounts are secure! Make sure your RuneScape password is unique to all your other passwords, and that your security questions are not guessable. Make sure your email account is secure too, with a strong, unique password, strong recovery answers, and two factor authentication if available.
Immediately after learning that the old board had been hijacked, I proceeded to contact InvisionFree about the situation. As of early this morning, the board and all of its contents have been deleted from InvisionFree's servers.
Unfortunately, this includes post data as well. It's a shame too, as a year of Sals history is now gone.
I sincerely apologize for this incident. Security has always been a main focus of ours, and I hope that this does not damage your opinion of us!
