Lesser Demon Slaying
Written By Neo Avatars
Lesser Demons are one of the monsters in RuneScape that are killed the most. By far the most popular place for killing these demons is in the Karamja Volcano, but there are other places. This guide will explain where these monsters are outside of the Wilderness and the best way to kill them for all combat types.
Well, that's a pretty simple question to answer. They have a low Defense level and they can drop decent items like a Rune Med Helm (chance of getting about 1/200 or with Ring or Wealth 1/150). This may not seem like a huge amount, but if you are on a budget to Range or Mage and want to cover your costs with monster drops then if you use Bronze Arrows or Fire Strike then just the drops of Rune Meds should cover your costs. They are also great experience for people from about 70-100 Combat. First, in order to make the most of your trip to the Lesser Demons, you should meet the following level requirements:
What you bring will change depending on if you are a Freeplayer or Member, but the basic idea of will stay the same. Melee Equipment - Members What to Wear: Dragon Weapon or Barrows Weapon or Whip - If using Whip bring Excalibur or Dragon Battleaxe for Special Attack ![]() ![]() Backpack: There is a bank nearby in TzHaar City so you don't need the best sort of food around. I would recommend at least these kinds of food for certain Defense levels: This is the kind of food that you can use at these defense levels to get around 15-30 minutes of combat between bank runs. The time between runs also depends partly on how lucky or unlucky you are when the Demons swing their arm to attack you. I also recommend taking a staff with an unlimited supply of Fire Runes (Fire or Lava Staff) along with some Nature Runes so that you can alch the drops that you get. Melee Equipment - Freeplayers What to Wear: Rune Weapon ![]() ![]() Backpack: As there is not a bank nearby for f2p, I would recommend that you are at least 40 Fishing and Cooking so that you can catch Lobsters on the nearby pier in the banana plantation just East of the entrance to the Volcano. Mage Equipment - Members Casting Magic spells on these monsters is a safe way to kill them as at all locations that there are Lessers, there are also places to Mage them from. What to Wear: Full Mystic Robes ![]() ![]() Backpack: About 4 Lobsters incase you accidentally get hit by the Demons Mage Equipment - Freeplay What to Wear: Wizard's Hat ![]() ![]() Backpack: This is the same as the above for Members. Tips: If you are on a low budget and want to try and make a profit then go to the Port Sarim Rune Shop and buy Mind and Air Runes from there until there are 3,000 left in stock, if you leave less than 3,000 they will cost too much and you will lose money. Keep hopping Worlds until you have enough Runes. Information about where to stand so you don't get hit damage will be explained in the Locations section of this guide. Ranged Equipment - All Players Like Mage, Ranging these monsters is a safe way to kill them as at all locations that there are Lessers there are also places to Range them from. At some of the locations there are also places to set up a Dwarf Cannon and hide so you don't get hit damage. What to Wear: Archer Helm (Members) ![]() ![]() Backpack: About 4 Lobsters incase you accidentally get hit by the Demons Tips: If you are p2p and coming up to one of the major Ranged landmarks (Level 50, 60 or 70), then bring the next kind of Dragonhide armour you can wear with you in your inventory to save a bank trip. Information about where to stand so you don't get hit damage will be explained in the Locations section of this guide. Lesser Demons can be found in several different places around RuneScape out of the Wilderness. These places are:
In this part of the guide each place that Lesser Demons can be found will be given a brief description of what is there and other information that may help you chose where to kill these monsters. Karamja Volcano Karamja Volcano is by far the most popular location to kill Lesser Demons in. There are two areas, one of which you need to complete the Dragon Slayer Quest to access. The area that you do not need to complete Dragon Slayer to access is by far the most popular of all locations to kill Lessers. There are five spawns, four of which can be Maged or Ranged easily. Where to Stand if Maging or Ranging: ![]() ![]() These images show exactly where to stand if you want to Mage or Range in this room. There is also a space big enough to fit a Dwarf Cannon in (the place to put the Cannon is indicated by a Yellow Circle) ![]() If you go North in the dungeon then you will come to a wall that you can open if you have completed the Dragon Slayer Quest. If you go through this wall then you will come to another area with another five Lesser Demons just asking you to kill them. Four of these are South of the Mage and Range spot, while the other one is North of it. ![]() The Mage and Range spot is indicated by another yellow circle. In this room there is another spot to set up a Cannon (more yellow circles) . ![]() Crandor Isle If you carry on North through the dungeon you will come to a rope. Climb it and you will appear on Crandor Isle. Just a short way North are two Lesser Demon spawns that very few people use at all. If you want a location, not caring about how far from the bank it is or not caring about having other people to talk to then this is the place for you. The Demons spawn in the Yellow Circles. ![]() There are no places that you can Mage or Range from here, but you can set up a Cannon and hide behind the trees to the North of the spawns without getting hit. It is also a very good place to Melee if you want the experience as you get two whole Demons to yourself rather than just having one in most other locations. Taverley Dungeon Taverley Dungeon in my opinion is like a giant cage in the Wizard's Tower that you can walk into. There are five spawns here and all can be Maged or Ranged if they walk into the correct position. Two spawns can from at their spawn point. Remember to bring Teleport Runes for a quick exit because otherwise it is a long walk back to Falador Bank. Level 5 Agility helps to get over the Crumbling Wall Agility Shortcut just South of Falador West Bank. To Mage or Range go into Taverley Dungeon, but instead of walking round into the area with the Demons you stop when you get to an area with some Black Knights by a fence. Stand beside the fence and Mage or Range from here. ![]() From the Mage spot to get round to Melee you go through a room of Magic Axes and past some Level 20 Poison Scorpions. Now you put on run and cross the bridge past some Level 48 Chaos Dwarves and head North to the Demons. The Dwarves will attack you all the way to the Demons, so once you want to start fighting Lessers, kill the Dwarf that is attacking you and the Demons will automatically attack you. Wizard's Tower There is one spawn on the 3rd floor of the Wizard's Tower South of Draynor Village that is caged. This means that you cannot Melee it other than with a Halberd and generally have to use Mage or Ranged. Magic is by far the most popular option and Wind Blast (41 Magic required) is the most commonly used spell. One thing that you can't forget when Maging or Ranging this one is Runes for the Telekinetic Grab spell (33 Magic required) because if you happen to get a Rune Med Helm here you can't just walk in and pick it up off the floor. This location is a multi-combat zone so try to go on a world with no more than one other person. ![]() When Lesser Demons Attack When they Attack it looks like they are waving at you. |
