Classic Crafting:
Glass & Battle Staffs

Crafting is a very useful skill that you can use in RuneScape. Being able to craft glass objects can allow you to make your own vials for Herblaw, and craft orbs used to make Battle Staffs. This part of the crafting guide is Members-only.

Glassmaking

Glassmaking is a great way to begin crafting glass, because you don't have to move from town to town gathering the items and making ingredients. Instead, you can stay on the island of Entrana for as long as you want, because everything to get you started is right there. Before you start, let's make a short shopping list.

Ingredients to Glass

  • sandBucket of Sand - get more if you want to make more glass.
  • glassblowing pipeGlassblowing Pipe - for making the objects.
  • seaweedSeaweed - One piece per bucket of sand.

Making Glass

Put all of your weapons and armor into the bank, since you can't take them to Entrana (plus, you really don't need them anyways). If you don't want to wait for the seaweed respawn on Entrana, you can collect some with a Big Net in Catherby.

  1. Buy a bucket from your local General Store. a sand pit
  2. Go to Port Sarim and talk to the monks about taking the boat to Entrana.
  3. Get a glassblowing pipe from the house just west of the furnace. Notice the range.
  4. If you need to, gather the seaweed that respawns on the far west beach.
  5. Cook the seaweed on the range in the house from before to get soda ash.soda ash
  6. The sand pit is conveniently located near the furnace. Fill the bucket with sand.
  7. Use the sand with the furnace to melt it down into molten glass.molten glass
  8. Now you can use the glassblowing pipe with the glass to make glass items!

Crafting Battle Staffs

Battle Staffs are useful weapons in RuneScape because when you equip one, it takes the place of that elemental Rune. When you enchant them, their attack and power increases even more.

Ingredients to a Good Battle Staff

  • An Elemental Staff - available at your local Varrock Staff Shop, or the Yanille Magic Guild for 1,500gp.
  • orbAn Unpowered Orb - craftable
  • Cosmic & Elemental Runes
  • At least 56 magic and 56 crafting.

Once you've obtained a staff, and orb, the Runes, and required levels, you're ready to start crafting battle staffs. First, decide which kind you want, but remember that at level 56, you can only make a Battle Staff of Air. Take the staff to the correct Obelisk, and cast the correct charge spell on the obelisk.

Water In the Members Dungeon past the Black Demons and up the ladder.
Earth In the Wilderness Dungeon past the Black Demons. Then go right until you see Chronozon.
Fire In the Members Dungeon, just past the Black Demons.

Now that your orb is enchanted, you should craft it onto your battle staff. Finally, you can have it enchanted by Thormac the Sorcerer, provided that you have completed the Scorpion Catcher Quest. The actual enchanting costs a nominal fee of 40,000gp.
