Classic Mining:
Picks, Ores & Places

The life of a miner is hard, with long, tedious hours of mining in cold, dark mines. But mining can also give a huge profit, since you can forge your own weapons and armor with the ore that you mine.

Pickaxes

There are 7 kinds of pickaxes to choose from while mining. The better ones hit the rock more times, which means less clicking. You can buy pickaxes from Nurmof's shop, down in the Dwarven Mines. The shop is directly west of the entrance above-ground, and north of the General Store. Here is a map that may also help.

Notes:

  • Quantity in Stock is the maximum number of picks the store will have if no one buys or sells.
  • The main difference in the picks are that the better ones hit more times.

There are lots of places that you can mine in RuneScape, but here are some good places to start off. You can click on the mini-pictures to see a larger map.

Once you have a pickaxe and a place to mine, you're ready to start mining. You can prospect the rock to see what kind of ore there is, or you can just click on a rock with color in it, depending on the kind of ore you want. If you don't get any ore at first, keep working on it, and soon you will have a backpack full of ore!

Ores and Rocks

There are 11 different kinds of ores to mine in RuneScape, and each different kind of rock has it's own color. When the rock is colored, it means that there is ore in it.
