Classic Mining:
Important Info & Tips

This section of the guide covers respawn info, big changes, and some helpful tips that any miner needs to know.

Respawn Info

Respawning is a word for saying that an item regenerates back into the game, such as an ore in a rock.

The amount of people that are on a server will affect how fast the ores will respawn. Usually, more people on a server will make ores respawn faster, while less people makes them respawn slower. So, a server with 1000 people on it will have much faster respawn times then a server with only 300 people.

Since people are constantly logging in and out, you can't be exact, but here are the estimated times for ore respawn.

Respawn Times
Ore 100-200 People 400-500 People 600-700 People 900-1050 People 1100 People

Changes

There have been lots of changes to mining since they began tweaking it in November 2002. Some of these changes include Fatigue, new picks, colored rocks, and sleeping bags.

  • Fatigue - How tired you feel. You need to rest when you get too tired.

Fatigue started out in November 2002, beginning a New Age of mining. There were Hard rocks, which tired you out faster but were much easier to mine. Soft rocks gave less fatigue, but were more difficult to mine. You needed to find a bed to sleep in to recover from fatigue.

In May 2003, sleeping bags were introduced, allowing you to recover from fatigue right away. They got rid of Hard and Soft rocks, and put in colored rocks.

  • Sleeping Bags - These allow you to recover from fatigue right away.

A new addition in May 2003, sleeping bags let you recover from fatigue right away. To prevent auto mining, you need to type the correct word to return to the game. You can buy one in any local General Store.

  • Colored Rocks - Each rock has its own color.

When a rock has an ore in it, it shows up colored. After the ore is mined out, it shows up as a dull color

  • Pickaxes - Now there are 6 kinds of pickaxes to choose from.

You can buy these in the Dwarven Mines at the pickaxe store. The better ones will hit the rock more times in a row, meaning less clicking. The old pickaxes use to look like this:

Helpful Tips

  • Each rock only has 1 kind of ore in it. You will never find Rune of in an Iron rock.
  • Some ores respawn faster than others, depending on how many people are on the server. More people means a quicker respawn time.
  • Sometimes you can find a gem in a rock, but it gives to experience. Wearing a Dragonstone Amulet increases your chances of getting one.
