Classic Mining:
Important Info & Tips This section of the guide covers respawn info, big changes, and some helpful tips that any miner needs to know.
Respawning is a word for saying that an item regenerates back into the game, such as an ore in a rock. The amount of people that are on a server will affect how fast the ores will respawn. Usually, more people on a server will make ores respawn faster, while less people makes them respawn slower. So, a server with 1000 people on it will have much faster respawn times then a server with only 300 people. Since people are constantly logging in and out, you can't be exact, but here are the estimated times for ore respawn.
There have been lots of changes to mining since they began tweaking it in November 2002. Some of these changes include Fatigue, new picks, colored rocks, and sleeping bags.
Fatigue started out in November 2002, beginning a New Age of
mining. There were Hard rocks, which tired you out faster but were much easier
to mine. Soft In May 2003, sleeping bags were introduced, allowing you to recover from fatigue right away. They got rid of Hard and Soft rocks, and put in colored rocks.
A new addition in May 2003, sleeping bags
When a rock has an ore in it, it shows up colored. After the
ore is mined out, it shows up as a dull color
You can buy these in the Dwarven Mines at the pickaxe store.
The better ones will hit the rock more times in a row, meaning less clicking.
The old pickaxes use to look like this:
