| August 2005 Q&A's
All of these Q&A's are from August 2005. Sgt Tilty Q: Sal ur the best! I gots a question for ya. I ant to know what's the bets weapon in the game: Abby Whip or Dharok's Axe. Ty 4 ur time. A: It really depends on you and what you'd like from a weapon. If it were me, I'd go for an Abyssal Whip, as it doesn't degrade like Barrows armor, and it's very powerful. Dharok's Axe, on the other hand, is best with the entire set (as bonuses are added with a complete set). It gets more powerful as you lose health, but be careful, as it will be most effective when you're at (approximately) 1/10 of your life, but there's a chance that you could die as well. Deyna10 Q: I have a question about the Lost City quest. I haven't even trained my crafting, and it says it requires 31 crafting. Why do you need crafting in it anyways? Is it for the draman branch? If so, can I get a friend to cut if for me? Please reply, I really want to wield a dragon sword. Thanks Sal! A: You actually need 31 Crafting in order to craft the Dramen Branch into a Dramen Staff. It's un-tradeable, so your friend will be unable to cut one for you. Jojo Q: hi. i've always played runescape with the low quality because its faster to load. i know high quality has music only. i know high quality has music only. i cant play high quality because i guess its too slow for me. but does it also have better graphics and more detail than the low quality? A: Well, the high detail version has the same graphics as the low detail version, there's just extra detail put into most things. For example, you'll notice that in high detail there are carpets on many of the floors of buildings, and objects such as sticks and rocks on the ground. There's extra detail in just about everything in the game, although things like backpack items are the same. Fruityfed In your site, in the upper left-hand corner, bellow the picture of the guy in mith, the guy in the middle's you, right? But who's the ranger and mage? On your site, also, in the screenshots it shows a picture of Limbridge. The characters look like rs2 but the ground looks different, just darker. And what exactly are vambraces? Sorry to be loading you with questions. P.S. I like the ranger's coif. lol A: The Ranger and Mage in that picture are actually just my friends. They agreed to help me with a picture for the site. :) Vambraces are somewhat like a gauntlet, they protect your forearm. Qbert338 Q: Hey Sal, great site! I was wondering if there was a way that your fans could send in guides. I'm lvl 74 and too dumb to do sheep shearer without a quest guide. I have 145 qp and still goin! But it would be kinda cool if people like me could send in guides for quests or sumthin. A possible idea? Oh, could you be so kind as to allow "tips" to be sent in? I have much to contribute! Thx for reading sal. Feel free to message me, its Qbert338. A: The best way to send in a guide would be to post it on the website's Forum. There you'll be able to see what guides e already have, what we need help with, and you can have people comment on your guide. Jacob Chan Q: Dear Sal, I have a question. A couple weeks ago I noticed that ppl seem to stand using different postures liek their feet are closer together and they seem to hold 2h swords on ther shoulder. Why?? Ty sal, ur sites da bomb!!!! A: It appears to be an update that wasn't announced by Jagex. They sometimes add in small things such as this, without even posting it on their main site. They're always improving on the game, and if they think that something is too small to mention, they don't. ;) Jared Q: yes,um, on he website is says green dragons are level 79...and the dragon in dragon slayer is level 83...and i killed him...at level 56..so why do u need to be level 70 atleast to kill a green dragon? A: You don't need to be level 70 to kill Green Dragons, it's just recommended that you're that level so that you make a profit from killing them. Fighting Dragons at a low level wastes food, time and cash, as you'll be eating all of your food to survive. While Green Dragons drop some good stuff, you may not even make much of a profit because of all the food you'll need. Higher leveled players stand a better chance, and will therefore make more of a profit. Klackare1 Q:yo sal, just wanna say gr8 web site use it all the time =). so the qustion: where can u find dragonstone ammys and gems??? plz answer A: Dragonstone Amulets are mainly crafted by other players, as there currently isn't a shop where you can buy them from. They're also dropped by the Kalphite Queen sometimes. Dragonstones aren't available in stores either, and instead are always found in the Crystal Chest in Taverley. Digitalme2 Q: Hey sal, I love your site, and i just wanted to ask you a question that's been bugging for a while. So if you have private chat set to friends only, and someone friends you, but you don't friend them, can they still see what world you're on, and where you are, and stuff? A: As long as you have your friends status set to "friends," only people on your Friends List can see if you're online and such. For everyone else, it will display your status as offline. When it's set to "off," no one can see if you're online. Dil89 Q: hey sal kwl site av i said many times b4 but were can u find rune boots or are they only accessible from a quest? A: Rune Boots are only dropped by Slayer monsters, such as Nechryaels. Weirdodude1 Q: hi salmoneus, i know youve heard this b4 but, UR WEBSITE RULES!!! but ya so my question is: if u r a free player and u reach the highest u can go, can u still use that skill? as in if u get the highest in mining, can u still mine? thanx alot 4 ur help sal! A: Of course, if you reach 99 in any skill you'll still be able to continue using that skill. Stefan Q: what wildernis level is the limit of teleportation to, just say varrock or lumbridge? can i teleport out of a battle in the wildernis? thanks A: You can teleport out of the Wilderness from level 20 and below. After that, you can't teleport using magic or jewelry. And yes, you can teleport out of battle in the Wilderness, as long as you're within the area for teleporting. Duy A: It depends on the color of the Crown. Silver Crowns are only Player Moderators, who aren't part of the staff. They're just players that help watch over the others players in RuneScape. Golden Crowns are actually Jagex Staff members. Tron50 Q: hey sal ur site rox! i heard that if u stole from stals you could sell the stuff back to the seller. i tried this but it didnt work. can u or is this not possible? thx sal A: Yes, you can sell anything that you've stolen back to the seller, although you must wait a week before being able to do so. Trying to sell items to the seller before a week is up will result in them calling the guards over. Thomas Q: Hey salm. I love your website. I have 1 question. Which shield is better. Granute shield or rune kite. One guy told me granute shield. Another guy told me rune kite. Can you help me out. thx A: Granite Shields are slightly worse in melee combat than Rune Kites, although they have better Ranged and Magic defense bonuses. Richard Q: hey sal ur site is DA BOMB! I started using it after my friend told me about it. it's better than any other sites. Anyways my fiend in real life told me he had a huge mansion in fally and he said if ur memeber u can buy ur own house. i wanna no if this is really true so plz answer my question. thanx in advance. P.S.again ur site is DA BOMB! A: Currently, there aren't any Player Owned Houses available to buy in RuneScape, but Jagex is working on releasing some sort of system for them. Details about it aren't really available at this time, but I'm assuming that they will be related to the Carpentry skill planned to be released in December. Grayback88 Q: Hey Sal, I really like the site, but one thing confuses me. Some people say f2p players can never reach Combat Level 126. Is this true? Is there a combat level cap on f2p players? Or any level cap at all? A: No, there isn't any sort of level cap for Freeplayers. They can reach 99 in any amount of skills just like Members. Zapzoei Q: Dear sal, i have become obsessed with your site. thank you so very much for providing such a valuable service. for me, playing the game would be impossible without you. many, many thanks! My question is about mithril seeds in runescape. they, as you know are rather expensive so i don't want to waste the precious few i have experimenting.(i bought at general store as i am not a member of champoions guild yet.) how exactly do i grow them? do the same rules apply as far as composting and watering as in the farming skill? Do u have any idea about the precentages of black and white flowers grown from these? i only see the primary colors being sold. i did read on your site that they will grow pretty much anywhere. Does that mean anywhere? or are there some places you can't grow them? any information you have about these mysterious expensive seeds will be extrememy helpful as i have searched and found no guides at this time. Thank you so very much sal for any thoughts you post. A: Mithril Seeds are obtained through the Waterfall Quest, and you can buy them for 300gp each at the Legend's Guild. There isn't really anything special about growing them, you just plant them anywhere you'd like and they'll grow. No watering or compost is needed, a flower will just spring up and you'll be able to pick them. Meatballsoup Q: Sal, I love your site, it's the most helpful Runescape resource I've found, but in the crafting guide you seem to have left out an important detail: how the heck do I string an amulet? I can't enchant it without a string, I can't wear it without a string, and using a needle and/or thread on it doesn't work. Help? A: There's info in there about stringing them. ;) All you need to do is shear a sheep to get wool, and spin that wool on a Spinning Wheel. Use the ball of Wool with your amulet to string it. Cat Q: I love your site Sal, but there is a little tid bit of information that I long for and can't find. No matter how many time I circle the Shilo Village, I can't enter it! Is there something I need to do first? A: Yes, you need to complete the Shilo Village Quest before being able to enter the village. Jimbob Jones Q: what do you do with a mime mask?????????? ive had 1 for ages but have never known what to do with it you cant sell it or trade it what do you do with it?? A: Mime Masks are a reward for completing the Mime Random Event. It's just a fun item without any real use. Ace Q: I know this sounds kind of dumb coming from a level 60.... But does attack insrease accurracy and damage as well as let you gain new weapons, or is it a waste of time going past dragon weapon lvl(60)? A: You're right, Attack increases how accurate your hits are, but it has nothing to do with damage. It's definitely worth it to go past level 60, as you'll be able to hit more often and kill your enemies faster. K-Swiss Q: love the site!!i was wondering what the dragon half shield ( droped by rare monsters on members worlds) is used for? also can u wield it? and if u put 2 half together does it make a full dragon shield? thanx A: There are 2 halves of the Dragon Shield, which when put together creates the completed shield. One half is only bought from the Legend's Guild, while the other half is only dropped by monsters. Heraku1 Q: hey sal, kewl site. its me again. i was wondering if u have 2 accounts, but you wanted both of them to be members, would you have to pay 5 dollars per month for the both of them, or only 5, since they're both yours? A: No, you need to pay $5 for each account that you'd like to have upgraded to Member status. Magedragon1 Q: My question: with the new addition of the new posions i have herd talk of the ability to use a cleaning cloth on the old posion, do you know how to come across one of these so called cleaning cloths. thank you for your time and your hardwork is very helpful to me while playing runescape keep up the good work thanks again MageDragon1 A: You can sometimes get a Cleaning Cloth from Tribesmen on Karamja after killing them. If you use it on a poisoned item such as a spear, arrow or dagger, the poison will be removed. Tomos Q: First of all i have to say thx for this great web site, it's really helpfull!! Now here's my problem: i was playing a few weeks ago and suddenly my game started lagging and hasn't stopped since then. I tried everything(including reinstalling windows).I looked at the jagex help page but nothing works(and it s not a prob with java). I have a dsl connection, 512mb of ram, a firewall, antiviruses and an anti spyware. I'm becoming desperate. Please try and help me out. Thanks for your time. A: Try turning off your computer and unplugging your DSL modem for about 30-60 seconds. Then try plugging it back in and playing again. Ollied930 Q: Hi Sal Great site this is! I have just one simple question that i need you to answer involving the compulsory member's skill agility. For training it you say to start off in the tree gnome stronghold but I cant go in because the guards say - 'you need king lathas' permission. Please answer and tell me how to get this permission. Thanks a lot. A: It sounds like you're going to King Lathas' Training Ground, which is just east of the Stronghold. :) |
