Sal's Realm of RuneScape
July 2004 Q&A's

These questions were sent to me in July 2004.

Bob f it

Q: Congrats on getting to smith 70, but does it really bore you only doing daggers and hatchets, though I suppose you'd make a whole load of money.

A: Actually, I've been saving up my addy bars until I can make something worth the time to smith them. Since Mithril plates give over 3k each to high-alch, and each bar takes less coal to make, that's how I work on smithing.

Chase

Q: do you know n e good ranging spots? I'm at 41 ranging and wanna know some good non-member places to lvl up. I've trained on cows, Al Kharid warriors, barbarians, all that stuff. what other places r there especially places with kinda high lvl stuff.

A: Even though I don't range a lot, I think you may have some luck in the Ice Warrior Cave near Port Sarim. You can probably hide behind the rocks and range at the Ice Giants or Warriors and get some good xp.

Arragon No1

Q: hi me again I have another question, I'm lvl 56 now and I was wondering what monsters would be best 4 training on at my lvl (on RS classic)?

A: You can try training on Ice Warriors in the cave near Port Sarim, or if those are too difficult, try training on Black Knights.

Q: i have another question, will there be holiday drops in rs classic or is that just 4 rs2 now? if there are holiday drops wat drops the items (masks, p hats or santas) or where?

A: Well, I'm not completely sure if there will be a holiday drop this year, but if there is, there's no telling if items will be dropped in both games or just in RS2. As for where they'll be dropped, you can probably find them all over the place at random times.

Q: hey Sal, I play RSC a lot but all my stuff is on RuneScape do u know if they'll ever do that transfer thingy again?

A: I think that the transfer thing they had up was taken down in order to keep people from cheating, and I don't think that they will set it back up again. You can try contacting Jagex from the RuneScape website and asking if they'll transfer your items for you.

James Wilson

Q: hey Sal, how fast is your internet? and doesn't downloading java slow down your computer because when I downloaded java it took up 100mb on my computer.

A: Right now I've got a 384k cable line, but it only downloads at around 45k. Downloading Java really doesn't slow your computer down, it just takes up a lot of space on your hard drive. What slows your computer down is the amount of open programs and things running.

Thekidder

Q: I just wanted to know what happened to the sleeping bags. I've heard about them but I've never seen them. Did they just take them out during beta testing? oh yeah nice little site ya got here very good for a one person job.

A: Sleeping bags were completely removed from the game during the beta, since fatigue no longer existed in RuneScape.

Ryan

Q: So where exactly are the chests that can be opened by muddy keys?

A: The muddy chest key chest can be found in the Lava Maze in the Wilderness.

Domantior

Q: Do you have to be a member to wield a magic bow?

A: Yes, Magic bows are only useable by Members.

Jairo92

Q: Can you please make a list of what quests do you think we should do first. Please I need it and I'm a big fan of  you.

A: There really isn't a list of needed-to-do quests I can give, but I suggest doing quests that give rewards like experience, items and access to useful areas and skills (like Rune Mysteries). That way you can get some experience, items, and the ability to make Runes, which you can sell for money.

Sir Konfuzed

Q: I am a keen ranger and I was just wondering - when will u bring out your ranging guide!?!
p.s your website really rox!!

A: Well, I was planning on bringing out a new Ranging guide, but then I decided to write the Thieving one up instead. I've also been quite busy trying to catch up with quest guides and needed site maintenance, but a Ranging guide will hopefully be released soon!

Killmeonsite

Q: What is a quick way to get your smithing level up?

A: The best way to level your Smithing is to always make the best item that you can, until you can make Mithril. The reason for that is, steel is very easy to make and it gives great experience. Once you can make Mithril plates, you can give them a try because eventually steel will be quite slow to gain experience from.

Sir Konfuzed

Q: Does your defense go down if you are a male and wear a skirt??

A: No, both skirts and plate-mail legs give the same amount of defense, regardless of gender.

Q: Sal, you finally got it fixed! (the update from yesterday) Now i can see the links and everything cool. Like i just wants to know if you really like making websites.. like do u enjoy it? And how did u fix the thing neways? Just wonderin u dont have to answer if u dont want to. Oh yea and happy bday!!

A: Well it's a good thing you told me about it in the first place. Anyhow, of course I like making websites! Besides the fact that there's nothing much else to do, I guess I like making a site to help people out with a great game. Well, to do with the update you asked about, it's rather difficult to explain... Thanks for the happy b-day!

XrayBoss5

Q: I have heard other ways for fast gold such as those banana stuffs, killing guards, and get ur lvl up to do this. But these easy gold websites never tell me other ways for easy gold such as like...getting so much gold (about 1000) by doing something easy because lvling up to do this and keep doing all these stuffs r making me tired. My aim is to get Santa hat and i need a lot of gold to trade for it but where can i get gold in fast way and easily?

A: To tell you the truth, there really is no "get rich quick" plan that works in RuneScape. I would say that you need to find a skill that you like to work on and get good at it. There's all sorts of things to do, from smithing and mining to fishing or cooking. Once you get to a high enough level, you can sell food or smithed armor for a huge profit. It all depends on what you like to do in RuneScape.

Ann F.

Q: How can I find a printable version of the RuneScape World Map?

A: Since the world map is so huge, it probably wouldn't fit on a single slice of paper. You could probably save it on your computer from the RuneScape site, and then use a graphics program like Paint to resize it down. But, I'm not sure if the text will still be readable after resizing it.

Runedscaped

Q: Where can I get a wizard's mind bomb for the dragon slayer quest?

A: You can buy a Mind Bomb from the bar in Falador. Check the Magic guide for more info.

007link007

Q: Hey it is me again. I was just wonderin what level are you and how do you get lots of cash??

A: Right now, my combat level is 80, and you can check the Salmoneus Page for my current levels. Well, I make my money by smithing Mithril plates and casting high level alchemy on them to make a nice profit. You can also catch fish and sell them, fletch bows or mine coal to make a good profit.

007link007

Q: So...I was just wondering about how much Saradomin armor is because i really want some but know ever tells me how much it is worth. Thnx

A: Saradomin Armor is quite rare and can only be obtained from completing a treasure trail or trading. Although the price is not confirmed, some people may sell a full set for several million or more.

arragon no1

Q: hi, i was wondering if i can get gold trim armor on rs classic. if so how or where??

A: Trimmed armor is only available on RuneScape, since the classical version wasn't updated with Treasure Trails.

James W.

Q: hey sal its me again i have free internet which runs at 1k to 56k but mine runs at 33.2k is this fast enough to play rs2 and rsc?

A: I think that 33k should be enough to play both RSC and RuneScape, as long as it's a good connection. Otherwise there could be a great amount of lag, but if you can view web pages fine, then there shouldn't be too much of a problem.
