November 2004 Q&A's
Faychii A: RuneScape was first started in 2000 by Andrew Gower, the creator of RuneScape. The public beta began in early 2001, which was when people could start playing. Originally it was just Andrew working on the project, but now there's an entire team working on the game. Pat A: When you see items grouped together on a paper, it's called a Bank Note. Any unstackable items like ore, fish or weapons (among other things) can be changed into notes from within your bank. At the bottom of the bank screen just click on the Withdraw as Bank Note button, take out the items and they should be in notes. Pyreforge A: When you use the Crystal Key it will disappear, so you'll need to get another one to open the chest again. Shawn A: In my own opinion, each weapon has its own advantages and it depends on what you want from a weapon. Swords are slightly quicker that Battle Axes, but Battle Axes hit harder than Swords. So, you can hit your enemy more often with a Sword than an Axe, but those hits will be slightly lower. As for special attacks, the Dragon Axe will raise your Strength while lowering your other fighting stats, but your max hit will be raised by around 3 points or more. A Dragon Sword's special hit's your enemy harder. Runer0 A: Muddy Keys are used to open the chest in the center of the Lava Maze in the Wilderness. Lance 777 A: Yes, the best place to smelt your ore is in Al Kharid since the bank is right near the furnace. Slayer Shunt A: When you plant a Mithril Seed, it will grow into a Flower of a random color. You can get a box of 40 seeds from doing the Waterfall Quest, or you can buy them from the Legend's Guild. Logan A: It's just based on luck whether or not you'll get something rare like God armor, or just some untrimmed armor. It also depends on the level of the monster you get the trail from; if it's a high level monster then you'll have a better chance at getting the more rare items. Jalhala A: You can buy a Dragon Sword from a shop in the Lost City for 100,000gp. Jack A: You actually need to have the clue in your backpack, or you won't find anything when you go to dig. You need the clue at all times, even if you have to fight an NPC or open a chest. Lord_Sey137 A: All of the God armor is the same, there is no difference in defense or anything, it's exactly the same as regular Rune armor. Although, Zamorack armor is the most rare of the 3 kinds. Merlinman99 A: Take a look at the Taking Screenshots guide in the Tips & Tricks section of the site. Dude! A: Well, I make my money by smithing lots of Steel Plates, and then High Alching them. Unusually I make around 300-400 plates, which makes about 360-480k. It's a great way to get cash, and since I can always use Smithing and Mining XP, it's a good way to work on both of my #1 skills. :) Prince 725 A: In the new RuneScape, the highest combat level that you can have is 126, and in RSC you can have a combat of 123. Halofight A: Well, I suppose you could get married in the game with a whole "ceremony" and everything with a ring, people watching and a "Priest" and all... as for the kids, well I don't think it's possible to physically have kids in RuneScape. Maybe they mean that other people playing are their RuneScape children. Allsmylze A: If you keep your melee stats low, and don't level them anymore, you'll be fine when your Magic level becomes higher than them. If you want to make a new character that's a mage, only raise Magic, defense and Prayer (if you want) to keep your Combat level to a minimum. Csours A: The word "woot" has been in there for quite a long time (in fact, it's 1 of the original words in there), since I started the Rune Dictionary. Spinny458 A: You can get Dragon Sears from monsters such as the Kalphite Queen, Black Demon (and Dragon), Greater Demons, and Fire Giants. Anonymous A: Yes, selling lots of Coal is a great way to make cash, since people will usually buy them for 100-150gp each. You could easily make about20-25k from selling 200 of them. Stpeznaz A: The Kalphite queen is in the Shantay Desert, just south of Al Kharid. After going through the pass, you need to go west through the desert until you find a hole in the ground, leading to a maze. You need a rope to climb down, and you should bring at least 2 others with you. Dia Knight 2 A: The number in () on the "Sal's Page" is just how many levels I've gained in that stat since the last time I've updated the page. Quark127 A: You don't need to have all 4 charges, but you need to have at least 1 charge left in order to have a better chance at finding gems. Digiman A: Usually, if you lose a quest item like a Stake, amulet or anything else that was given to you, just go back to the person that gave it to you, and they will give you another 1. Catfish A: There is no way to get into the bank vault in Varrock, you can only Tele-grab the items in there to get them. Dagibit A: No, higher level trees don't decrease the chance of burning food, but I believe that the better the tree you cut, and the higher your Firemaking level, the longer the fire will last (although I'm not completely sure). Blagh A: It depends on whether or not you want to PK people in the Wilderness with magic. If you're planning on being a Mage-PKer, then it would definitely be wise to have very low melee combat skills, since your combat level will be lower. If you don't want to be a Mage-PKer, it should be alright to have melee combat skills since they don't lower your Magic abilities. Killzin A: The fish stall can be found in the Barbarian village called Rellekka. Dagibit A: Power mining is when you continue mining ore, even when your backpack is full just to gain experience. It used to be a good way to level up in RSC, since you didn't need to deposit it into the bank or drop the ore manually to keep mining, but it's less effective in the new RuneScape. Yerbz A: Actually, the Kalphite Queen is stronger than the KBD, with a combat level of 333. Dagibit A: It's great that you want to donate an help the site, and any size donation is helpful, whether it's $3 or 10, they're always welcome. All donations go to keeping the site running by paying for the hosting bill and needed upgrades to the site. Check this page out for more info on donating. Sangu A: Anyone who says this is a scammer, since there is NO way to trim armor. You can only get trimmed armor from a Members' Treasure Trail (and you can trade them). Snipesnipe A: Yes, Rings of Forging can only be crafted and worn by Members. (>'.')> Q: claws! how do i get claws???? i see lots of people with them! (im lv 41 and i am a member) p.s. nice site A: Claws can be Smithed once you complete the Death Plateau Quest. Crussifier A: There's a guide in the Tips & Tricks section of the site which can help you. Pacdan A: When you die, the items that you keep are determined by the value that it sells for in a shop. The items that you're holding that have the greatest values will be the ones you keep. Rare items have a very low selling price, so it would be lost when you die if you have 3 other things that are worth more. Nanamirez A: No, they don't count as Dragonhide armor, but they raise your Ranged defense. Noobie415 A: Free-Players can were Green Dragon Leather, while the other kinds of Dragonhide are only wearable by Members. Vampirehinky A: The 2 Alchemy spells will convert the item you use it on into gp, depending on the item's selling price in a shop. Low Level Alchemy will convert it into a smaller mount of cash than High Level Alchemy will. Azjay A: When you die in the Wilderness (without a skull over your head), you'll keep your 3 best items in your inventory. Nothing in your bank will be lost; any items in there are safe. If you have a skull, you'll lose all items in your inventory. Jimbo248 A: You can kill Hobgoblins and Giants for Limpwurt roots, and they can be found in the Edgeville Dungeon, as well as the Ice Cave south of Port Sarim. But, if you're a low level those monsters may not be a good idea to fight. You might have to train your combat level so that you can fight them. Kristin A: The purpose of Bank Notes is so that you can easily trade large amounts of items at once, since notes are stackable and other items are not. So, if you wanted to trade 100 Coal, you could turn them into notes and easily trade them. If there weren't notes, you would need to have several trades. Noob-on-the-loose A: A normal attack with a Magic Bow is just like any other bow, and the special attack is just the same as any other Dragon weapon's special attack. Jwalker3 A: The Fishing Guild can be found just southwest of the Seer's Village. Fallen12 A: There really isn't anything good about Trimmed Armor, other than the fact that it looks cool. It doesn't give any bonuses or anything like that, but people who sell it can make quite a lot of money. Sangu A: Scimitars are slightly faster than Long Swords. The higher your strength is, the more damage you'll inflict on your enemy. For a PKer, strength and attack are equally important, and usually a PKer's defense level is lower, so that their combat level will be lower. If you're not a PKer, having a good defense level is important too. Master Krell A: Agility doesn't give you more time to run, but it allows your energy level to refill faster so that you can run. Jalhala A: Well, it's always nice to get compliments about the site, but you don't need to compliment to get a question answered... Anyhow, Dragon Bones are actually Members-Only, so you can't find them on the Free-Play worlds. Sal's #1 Fan A: You can get the key from Oziach, while you're working on the Dragon Slayer Quest. Cpt. Jack0 A: The 3 people in the corner of the site are actually me (you're right, I'm in the middle) and 2 of my friends who wish to remain nameless. As for the shell, those are called Snelms (a.k.a. Snail Shell Helms). Jalhala A: The only reason I wouldn't answer a question would be if there's another question like it that I've answered, there's a guide somewhere in the site that has the answer you're looking for, or it just doesn't make sense. I log in almost everyday for a short amount of time since I have a lot of things to do, and you probably don't notice/we aren't on at the same time. Joe A: I'd suggest that you make leather items from cow hides by killing cows near Lumbridge, having the hides turned into soft leather, and then crafting the best items that you can. Alexcplayer A: Well, for Rune weapons you need 40 attack, and for armor you need 40 defense. The Rune Plate Mail requires you to also have defeated Elvarg the Dragon. |
