September 2004 Q&A's
All of these Q&A's are from September 2004. Niongo
Q: Are ALL treasure trails for members only? Great site! A: Yes, all Treasure Trails are for Members only, but many of the rewards can be traded to free-players. Thornlance A: It costs $5 USD a month to become a Member. There's lots of info on the actual RuneScape website if you look at the Members FAQ. Rood A: Getting gems while mining is always random, but some places seem to have a greater chance of mining gems than others, such as the Miner's Guild. Generally, the better the gem is, the more rare it will be to mine it. Emeralds are almost twice as rare to mine as Sapphires, and Diamonds are much more rare to find than any other gem. Strongbad A: Santa Hats (along with other Holiday items) are always fluctuating in price, but Santa Hats should be worth more than that. They go for around 250k the last I heard. Legend of Jv A: The levels to wear the special trimmed armors is the same as wearing the regular armor without trimming. Rune armor requires level 40 defense, Adamantite requires 30, and black requires 10. El Porridge A: There aren't any Maple Trees located in free-play, but several grow around Camelot Castle and the Seer's Village. Thornlance A: The better your pickaxe is, the easier it is to mine ores. So, a Rune Pick will allow you to mine more quickly than an Iron one. Joe Black 92 A: the Necromancer's Tower can be found just southeast of Ardougne, near the ocean. Unlmtd A: Alright, I'll answer your questions in order: Andrew A: No, you can't dye boots different colors. Azn_Fight103 A: Ok, I'll try my best to answer them: Mia A: Actually, I believe that the highest combat level that you can have in RuneScape is 126. The combat formula in RuneScape is rather odd, but by having 99 in your main combat stats, it's possible to have a combat of 126. J.T. A: There are all sorts of things you can do to get lots of money, but there isn't really a "get rich quick" method that I've found. You can check the Making Money guide for several ways to gain money fairly quickly. I would recommend mining and smithing, or fishing because they're 2 of the most helpful skills that can get you money. Kilerpinguin A: the Wine Of Zamorak is used in Herblore to make Ranging Potions, but it doesn't usually sell for 10k since it isn't exactly rare. Bonezdeath A: Well, I can't really make that decision for you, but in my opinion it is, as long as you have the money to pay for it. You could always just try for a month, and decide from there if you want to keep your membership or stay a free-player. Ben A: The prices are always changing, but I'm going to try and add prices to the Holiday Item guide sometime soon. Rob A: You can get a Dragonfire shield while you're doing the Dragon Slayer quest, from the duke of Lumbridge found upstairs in the castle. Richy A: Usually, it's wise only to team up with people that you know and trust (especially in the Wilderness), since they could attack you. If you want to team up with someone while working on a quest or something, then generally it's alright, since it's alright to get help with quests. Daniel Miller A: The Champion's Guild can be found just southwest of Varrock. Kendra A: Check the Colors & Effects guide for info about changing your RuneScape font. ErgoDyne629 A: You can find gems while mining, at random times. Skooter A: No, it isn't yet possible to build houses in RuneScape, but a Carpentry skill is rumored to be on its way. If that means that you can build your own house or not, I'm not exactly sure. ErgoDyne629 A: Talismans are dropped by various monsters in RuneScape, and they're used in the RuneCrafting skill, which allows you to make Runes. You need to do the Rune Mystery quest first before you can practice the skill. A RuneCrafting guide is coming shortly, with specific info about the skill. Georgia Zaccardo A: Yes, the Heroes Guild is a Members-Only guild, located northwest of Falador on the Member's ground. RuneScape (or the company that makes it) is actually located in England. Camhen A: Well, I'll accept just about any sort of guide that can be helpful to players that visit the site. Right now I'm working mainly on Skill and Quest guides like RuneCrafting and others. Thanks for asking, I like it when people help out around the site. :) Bigpete37 A: Yes, free-players can turn items into coins by using one of the Alchemy magic spells. Tb224 A: The Ring of Wealth increases the drop rate of rare items when you kill an enemy (not exactly things like party hats, but things that it doesn't drop very often). Sens_fan A: Carpentry is a long-awaited skill that isn't here yet, but is planned for sometime in the future. It will supposedly allow you to make furniture for Player Owned Houses (a.k.a. POH's), which are also planned by Jagex to be released sometime. Player Owned Houses were a huge "thing" towards the start of the original RuneScape, and they were planned to be released, but the idea was scrapped because of the fact that there wasn't enough room for a house for each person. Pantooy A: Silverlight used to weaken all Demons in the game, but now it appears to have no effect on them in RuneScape. Jalhala A: There isn't a way to get another Bluerite sword from the dwarf after you've done the quest. Jim A: Black Full Helmets are for sale in the Champion's guild in Valaine's shop upstairs. Salem92 A: There isn't a store to buy enchanted rings from, but players will sell them to you. Although, Enchanted rings are Members-Only. Greg151 A: Dragon items can be bought from the shops in both the Legend's and Heroes Guilds, which offer several types of weapons, and the Legend's Guild which offers half of a Dragon Shield. Snipesnipe A: The 'RuneScape' in the site address is actually a subdomain of Salmoneus.net, which was purchased by me. Confusedarcher A: To be a good archer, you'll probably want the lowest possible combat level, while having the highest Ranged level. I would recommend you have 40 defense so that you can wear green Dragon Leather, but have 1 Strength and Attack. The reason for the Dragon Leather is that it raises your Ranged attack, allowing you to hit harder. Go for the highest Ranged level possible, and you should be a great Ranger. Elliot Grimes A: No, it isn;t possible to make any sort of Black weapon or Armor. Thejbman A: The best thing that I've accomplished (in the game) would have to be 85 Mining, which was 1 of my biggest goals to achieve. Boom!loaded with ammo! A: The quickest way to level Crafting up would have to be making leather items. Everything you need is close together, and it's relatively fast to make, along with giving decent experience. Largo355 A: The best way to get Rune Armor would be to buy from other players in the game, since usually they'll give you a deal on it, but the different kinds of armor can also be bought in the Champion's Guild. Razorfire 41 A: No, Trimmed Armor doesn't give any extra bonuses. They're exactly the same as regular, untrimmed armor, other than the fact that they have trimming on them. Joe A: I'll look into the mask prices and add them, along with prices of other holiday items to the Holiday Item Guide soon. Monkey bones are found by killing Monkeys on Karamja, but I don't think that they're really work 4k. Snipesnipe A: To get to level 70, you need about 737.6k xp, so you just need another 329k (about that). 00 Eagle 00 A: I'm not quite sure why this happens, but maybe it's because some higher level people often times think that they're better than lower levels, so they have less respect for them. Matt A: No, there isn't a way to transfer your items back from RSC to the new RuneScape. Dande_Lion A: A Sickle is used in the Nature Spirit Quest, and you just craft it like you would any other silver item. You may also need to have already gotten to the part of the quest where you're asked to make the Sickle in order to make it. Duran000 A: A great way to level up your Ranged is to attack the Barbarians in the Barbarian Village pub, since they're fairly easy to kill and they give a good amount of xp. The Power in the Runes A: Although the Vampire is level 39, he's much easier to kill than he looks, as long as you have Garlic. Just bring lots of food with you and you should be alright. Zeimon5566 A: No, you can't wear a Rune plate without first killing the Dragon in the quest, since the game will not allow you to. Lokijuh A: It really depends on how fast you can mine and what you decide to mine for, but I would say that it might take just under a year, because just by mining Coal, that would be over 60,000. I usually mine coal and Iron so that I can make Steel. Easykill69 A: To get the actual clue to start a trail, you just need to kill monsters that drop them. You'll need a watch, chart, sextant and a spade. Spades can be picked up in Falador, across from the garden. A watch is given to you by the monk in the Clocktower, a Sextant is given to you buy Murphy the sailor in Port Khazard, and a Chart is given to you buy the Observatory Professor. Masked_Alan A: The other half of the map is for Members-Only, so you need to be a Member to go through the gate. Susaneallin A: The Strange Old Man is actually a random event in RuneScape that will reward you for talking to him, usually giving you something like money or a spinach roll. Great Scott!!! 1.21 Gigawatts?!? A: Well, if you're a Member, try King Lathas' training area northwest of Ardougne, or at the Blue dragons in the Taverley Dungeon. If you're a Free-Player, there aren't really many good ranging spots but you can try Ranging at the Lesser Demons in the Karamja Volcano, or Black Knights. MisterX A: There isn't a chart with the required xp per level on the site yet, but something like that will definitely be added to the site. I've been meaning to add something like this in for awhile, but I first wanted to get most of the skill and quest guides finished first. Richard A: Yes, using the superheat spell gives you both Magic and Smithing experience. OUT THERE was the mouse A: I'm not sure where you'd be if you unsubscribe, but most likely if you were on Members' land, you would appear in Lumbridge. Otherwise you would be wherever you last logged out at on the Free-Play world. As for the bank spaces, your things would still be there, but you would only be able to see the first 20 items in your bank. Pike Crusher A: Oziach is northwest of the Barbarian Village in RSC, and just east of Edgeville. PrincessQueen A: The Blue Moon Inn is in Varrock, just south of the General Store. 58674 A: Cannonballs are worth around 800-1,000gp a piece. Randy Ortin A: Try training on Chickens for awhile until you're around level 10, since they're pretty easy to kill. Then you can try killing Dark Wizards. |
