Skill Tips

  • Cute Chick61 - hi every1, especially sal UR WEBSITE FREAKIN ROCKS!!!! ok heres my tip for people making new accounts on runescape heres what you do, in the tutorial every skill u can up you put it up to 3(combat takes a while) the limit lvl (in the tutorial) is 3 so first you get woodcutting and fire making then u get cooking etc etc etc. then you will be at least the combat lvl 5 and total lvl at least 53. so thats my tip and i hope you find it useful
  • Metatag - Don't ever click a rock to mine, and leave your computer. I clicked a coal rock, went to get a Dr. Pepper (ooooh yeeeeah) and whn i came back, i was down about 10hp with a broken pick.
  • Summer - Sal U ROCK!!! ok now for the tip you need to be able to fish lobbies for this fish lobs in karajma then go to fally or draynor bank store lobs then when u get a fair few cook them then go to edge of wilderness and sell them 100-200 gp each you will see that people will buy them. Have fun making money!
  • Razorslice - Hi Sal! Ur site rox! Anyway, my tip is that u should first do the knights sword quest to get up ur smithing and then work ur way up to lvl 33 in smithing so u can make iron pl8 bodys. Go and mine at least 1000 iron and smelt into iron bars. Then go and make 10 of each pl8skirts, pl8legs, pl8 bodys & full and medium helms. Then go up and sell female and male iron sets for 500gp each! You will rake up sales and u will get very rich in no time at all. U can also sell for more than 500gp to get more. Think about it, selling 10 sets for 500gp each means 5k!!!! If u choose this tip u get lots of cash plus lots of xp!!!! Good luck with ur smithing!!!!
  • Darkness9892 - * warning: need to finish cook assistant quest * Hi! Heres a way to get your cooking lvl up for noobs. go to lumbrige and get 4 pots and 4 buckets. then go pick 4 grain, then go use it with the hopper to make flour. then go fill your buckets with water, and make bread dough. then go cook it on the range in lumby castle! that easy, and bread give you 40 xp each! hope this helps!
  • Alvindd - sal, ur fishing and cooking guide really worked!! from lvl 30-50 i fished salmons and trouts and cooked all of them.. u r great.. for fishers out there.. from 3-20 only fish shrimps(jus like sal said).. it's nothing to be ashamed of.. when u get to 20, go for flyfishing( jus like sal said).. u wont regret it.. sal i am in the top 50,000 all cuz of ya.. thanx v much
  • Sumo9113 - Me again, this time with a fishing tip. Fishing is my personal favorite way of making money, because it can level up cooking, and eventually combat skills. With enough patience, lobsters will come to you easily. Cook them (level 40 cooking to cook, 40 to catch) sell half and use half to train with. Have fun!
  • Me da bom 4 - runeite ore can be found in high lvl wilderness (45 ) just above the lava maze there is 2 pices with deadly red spiders gaurding it.
  • Bluechew22 - there is no real quick and easy way on leveling up. but there are places where if you have god patience you will level up fast. Karamja island is the no.1 place to lvl up in fishing and cooking. Once you can catch trout and salmon though, go to lumbridge river and fish there. Cook or sell the fish at the nearby general store. Feathers can be easily collected from the nearby chicken farm too. Once you hit lvl 40-45, start fishing lobbies, and if you have been cooking the fish u have been catching u should be able to cook the lobbies. Cooked lobbies are good in the wilderness and will sell for alot there. Once you reach lvl 50-55 u can catch swordfish. they sell for alot but you will get more tuna than swordfish when harpooning. this will take time and im sorry to those quick and easy fans (basically everybody) but this is the best way.
  • Phoenix4560 - hi its me. if u want to know were the runite rocks are check wildy lev 45. but be warned the wildy is dangerous and runite takes 30mins to come back.
  • Aken - Fishing is by far the most boring skill to practise in Runescape, with the possible exception of firemaking. However, it's a neccessary skill for the modern player killer. Otherwise, you can spend a lot of your spoils on buying food to keep you alive! The best thing to do is knuckle down and start fishing. Find a joke site or something to read while your character does all the work. Cook EVERY fish you catch, or you'll regret it when you hit forty. When you finally hit level forty, the lobsters will pour in for you to burn! Cheers!
  • Percy - ive got a really good tip for getting huuuuuge amounts of ore at a time,
all it takes is one TRUSTWORTHY friend (i.e someone you know and trust). all you do is mine any ore, and instead of taking it to the bank, trade it with your friend, and start mining again! your friend puts it in the bank, you mine while he's gone, and when he comes back, you have a fresh new batch to drop off! works best with iron and coal, and you could try it with fishing! it could work? right?
  • Jense - There are 2 easy mining spots, one is in lvl 9-10 wildy north of ice mountain, about 50 coal rocks there but you better bring some mates to protect you because wizards and rangers often go there to PK and the place is filled with lvl 21 skelletons, another place is a hill with every rock (except rune) in the game, also bring protection because of hogoblins and other players.
  • Cha0s Lord - Keep items ready in your bank if you need them. Its a pain wasting time getting stuff. All PKers should have 300 lobsters Spare armor & weapon Teleporting runes Runes/Arrows ( optional)
All mine/smithers- Spare pickaxe A lot of ores for smelting( get a big load, and then smelt) Hammer Fletchers -150 any kind of log 150 bowstrings Knife
  • Duckie4life - To quickliy increase your cooking level for new players, go to the chicken farm in Lumbridge. Kill chickens and collect ALL feathers and bones. Bury all the bones to increase your prayer level and keep the feathers for either fishing or selling later. Now, for your collected chickens, inside the house there is a cooking pot that u can use to cook the chickens. Now u can increase your combats, cooking, prayer, and fishing in the future, and get money all at the same time.
  • Imstillanoob - also, to mine coal, go out to lvl 35 or 36 wilderness, where theres tons of coal. watch out for chaos dwarfs(lvl 46 or something)
  • 3rdStartOver - Here's a tip for miners. Always try out new spots of mining areas. Do not stick to the same spot when it's full of people! Otherwise u won't get what u want.
  • Hedonis - For all you new players, never ever sell unfinished materials. Some players write about selling coal. Sure, it will make you rich but you don't get any xp for selling it. Instead save it in the bank for later. Don't use your coal on making steel, it's a waste of coal if you ask me. Train your smithing skill with iron till you well capable of smithing mithiril. Then it is time to cash in. The same goes for gems, silver and gold bars. Don't go for the quick cash, save it for crafting. More xp and more money.
  • Ashish - if u are looking for a good place to mine coal and you are not in the mining guild head down to lumbrige swamp its a good place to mine.
  • Timeformime - For all you beginners out there, I've found a great series of possible routes for mining and smithing. First of all, smith bronze by mining the copper and tin ore in varrock, take it to Lumbridge to smith it, and come back to Varrock to smith and, if desired, to sell it. Do the same with iron. Then, when you reach steel, go to the dwarf mines and mine there while smithing in Falador (also there is a mace shop and a shield shop where you can sell those items for more than at a shop). This takes patience but, given time, you will become a great smither and miner in no time!
  • Da Mash & Flamingice07 - A great place to train smithin and or mining is in dwarven mines. Use the shortcut in east falador and mine your ores, or train there. If u ar a low lvl, either have food, full run energy, or a lot of hits. GO TO THIS SITE IT IS AWSOME!!!
  • Pantooy - When mining be sure to get a rock first for yourself and get a good pickaxe otherwise you have no chance.
  • Goddess Bast - When mining only bring your pickaxe and weild it as a weapon. You will be able to run faster and get a full inventory of ore
    • When you are over level 60 smithin it is best to buy bars because you need alot of coal for just one rune bar!
  • Koji292 - u know the place that u get the ghostspeak amulet? theres 7 coal rock over there u can mine and there's very little people there!
    • if u think world 1 has alot of people mining coal, u are wrong. world 1 is only used for tradin and rarely has people (like the tip i mentioned above) so u can mine alot!
  • Snipesnipe - hey, i found a great way to raise smithing you need to be able to mine coal and smith steel b axes ok you go to the Dwarven mines (or the mining guild if u have good enough mining) and mine coal (lots of it) then get 1/2 the iron as u have coal and the smelt all them into steel bars and go to Doric's anvils (if u beats the quest already) smith all your bars into steel b axes(3 bars each) and i calculated that u get 113 xp every b axe don't make the chain mails they only give 112 xp. then sell all of the b axes to players not the general store because every time he gets one he will pay less for each of that item its really quick money too!
  • Sketchy1991 - me again and i have a big tip on how to get 60 mining pretty fast. Mine iron!!! I started at 52 mining mined iron for awhile 2 days later i was in the guild <(^_^)>
  • Gingersinner -
    mining tips
.use a steel pickaxe they are easy to replace
.mine the ore into bars and sell them
.go places that are quiet and there are not many people
.if a rock starts steaming do not carry on mining it
.have a bow handy in case a Gollum comes
.don't worry if a swarm comes and you have a good spot just run away and run back again and they will probably be gone.
  • Moose - For faster exp for cooking, go to Port Sarim with about 1000 gold coins. Buy herring from fishing shop for 1 gp each then cook on the range down the street then go to the Bluerite mine and sell to injured players, then repeat for a little profit and lots of exp. ( I raised my Cooking by 8 levels by doing this for 1 hour)
  • Tipster - This tip is for high lvl miners and smithers. Complete Doric's Quest (so you can use his anvils) then go to the Dwarven Mines and mine and much Mith, coal, and Addy ore as you can. Take the ores to the Falador forge and smelt them. You can then pound them into weapons and armor and sell them to players or stores for money!
  • Dark Light A - Hey, me again.  If you really after just cooking xp, cook chicken, they provide decent xp without having to travel much if not at all!  Pies and others require a lot of travel so it is not worth it if you just want to raise your cooking level.
  • 1800151100 - Me again Sal.. hehe... TIP: A really easy way to get your cooking lvl's up when u are lowish lvl's (1-20) is to go to the chicken pen south east of Falador. Go with a fairly empty pack. Pick up the chicken or kill some. Go to the range just south of there and cook them! you will get cooking lvl's in no time!
  • BlackXWolf - Okay say if you were mining and there are way too many people there and you can't get no ore all you have to do is log out and switch to a different world.
