Okay so as my last blog said I need a heroes or villains costume for Freshers week.
I ordered a Luigi Costume, it came, it didn't fit and it looked crap.
Now I have two weeks left to put one together.
I have two final options.
ZORRO or SLENDERMAN.
I'm tight with money so it's got to be an economy costume.
Zorro - I'd only be wearing a basic black shirt, a cape, a mask, a hat, some formal trousers and some shoes. So it might not look very zorro-y. Oh yeah and I'd get a suitable sword.
Slenderman - I could wear a suit, red tie, black gloves and I'd get a white lycra hood.
If you have another costume to suggest I could put together in a week fire away.
So I got into Cardiff University ( ). Cannot begin to describe the mix of nerves and excitement :P.
Anyway on Freshers Week there's a Heroes and Villains fancy dress night and I was wondering if the good people of sals had any cool ideas.
I'm already predicting to see about a million Batmen, Supermen, Spidermen and Captain Jack Sparrows .
So anything not really obvious but still recognisable would be great :P. It's also kind of important that my face isn't covered, it might not be all that great to look at but I'm planning to meet new people so if they can slightly recognise me it might help lol.
I've broke my computer, it won't boot up. When I switch it on it goes straight to a black screen with a blinking underscore.
Currently changing all the start-up settings, actually made .. well *something different* happen. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
Luckily I don't actually need this computer, I just want to get some files off it before I get rid of it :(.
Anybody have any suggestions? :/
Well my final exam, maths, was today. and mother of god it was difficult. I've done quite literally EVERY past paper by this edexcel and I did every Solomon Press paper for C3 (which is meant to be 1000000x more difficult than actual exam papers). This exam paper made Solomon press it's nice doggy! and showed it who's boss, hardest paper I've done by a long shot. I'm god awful at differentiation (I get all my rules mixed up). The first question was a differentiation question, an easy one. So I was pleased as I thought that would be differentiation out the way for the rest of the paper. I was wrong. Six out of eight questions included differentiation. I couldn't even do the first part of the last question worth 6 marks and struggled to do the last part for 4 marks.
No work tonight and no modules for other subjects have started yet so nothing to do tonight, and wow it feels weird! :P.
Well I applied to the University of Birmingham to study Psychology. They've sent me a letter telling me that they're not going to be making me an offer for that course, but they've given me an opportunity to change my application from psychology to Social Policy which they said 'is more suitable for my interests and experience'.
The course doesn't look bad, and I would find it interesting so I'm going to change the course choice anyway regardless as to whether I'd want to study it or not. It needs an ABB on the website and actually accepts General Studies so I'm pretty confident I could get in :P.
Has anybody actually looked into this course or is studying it or knows anybody studying it? and is it any good?
I'll be going to the courses open day anyway.
So I sat PY3 today, was sooo much better than I expected it to be. Felt so amazing after the exam, really pleased :). After discussing with people I failed one question about inter-rater reliability as I had no clue what inter-rater reliability is Oh well. I can think of 4 marks which I've definitely lost and out of 75 (I believe) that's not half bad!
Time to no life maths now :P.
If anybody else sat an exam today how did it go?
I have my first important exam tomorrow. I resat C1 (Maths) last week, which I didn't necessarily need to do, I was 4 UMS marks of an A overall last year for Maths and I got an A in this exam that I resat first time round, to try and get those 4 marks. With any resit you keep your highest marked results so if I got a B in the resit I'd keep the A. So that one was no pressure really.
Tomorrow's is PY3 - Psychology though and I'm britting shicks. The thing is this exams not even difficult, it's all about research methods. I literally just have to remember set definitions and relate them to the scenario, then write 2 essays out of a possible 5 that I know are going to come up. So I've got all my answers done before hand I just have to write them down in the hour and half provided. The thing is I can't for the life of me remember any of them. ;_;. If I took the exam before Christmas I'd be fairly confident I'd achieve at least a Low-B-High-C, If I sat the exam two days ago (before this cramming now alarms are ringing) I'd probably have gotten an E. I've got most of the definitions covered it's the Essays, 3 of my essays actually don't make sense to me anymore. I usually remember a general gist of how my essay goes and then write about it because I understand the subject I'm doing. I don't have a clue. So I think I'm going to learn the other two essays in great detail, and hope they come up. If not just wing it and blag the answers for the others hoping to get at least 5 or so marks.
I've had to stop to do something else for half hour or so before my brain melts.
I don't think I've blogged about it yet but I've received two university offers since sending off my UCAS.
Bangor wants 340 UCAS points and UWE also wants 340. UWE however won't accept my C in AS Geography as part of the points :<.
So basically with a Distinction in ICT I need a B and a C to go to Bangor in Maths and Psychology and an A and a B in those for UWE.
Thankfully Bangor is my favourite so it's most likely that that's where I'll be going.
I've also applied for Birmingham, Cardiff and Nottingham. The offers from those, if I do get offers at all , will probably be AAB or AAA so yeah GO BANGOR!
Anyway I've wasted time long enough so I think I'm going to go back to my writers cramp from copying the essays over and over again. Best of luck to everyone sitting exams and I'll probably blog tomorrow about how it went. So look forward to that .
Edit: Decided to edit my Blog Title to attract more people and jamie.
Yayy for forum upgrade!
But Nayyy for me not being able to see what's new due to the fact I have lots and lots of revision to do for Psychology on Thursday. If I'd have sat this exam before christmas I'd have got at least a B but now I've forgotten everything ;_;.
edit: I also published as a draft :')
10 minutes later im trying to work out how to publish a blog.
So this weekend a woman managed to steal a camera off me with some real hustle shizzle whilst i was on the till.
And I got a £25 parking ticket <_<.
That is all.
oh and my UCAS got sent off and I already regret putting one of the choices down and not another.
So I got to go to the hospital for the first time to see my niece. Who was born ~2 months early (see this blog: http://runescape.salmoneus.net/forums/inde...howentry=65759)
She's so adorable :3. She has little tiny fingernails and she grips your fingers really hard. Was truly amazing.
Her name is Anabelle Elizabeth. :P
Here is a picture my sister took:
I also bought her Christmas present today. It's this:
I bought it from Argos though (for £11 not £18 ;D).
You'd think maybe after the first three times somebody comes into your office and says, very clearly, that they are unable to work any weekdays and any weekend (I can work weekday evenings) that you'd stop putting them in for those hours on the rota. Especially when said person explained the hours they can't work and why during the interview, you know before you hired them. And when they do come into your office, and say they can't work, you don't make them feel like an unreliable dick who never turns up for work.
SAID PERSON IS ME.
I don't even know what shifts I've told them I'm unable to be at anymore, or when they've got cover for. All the staff are really nice doggy!y about each other too so no doubt they're saying the same thing.
Blergh. I'm going in with a full on fudgeing calender tomorrow and putting it on their desk. They're turning me into such a whiny little nice doggy!, I hate it.
Also it was pretty pointless me getting a job if i can't do any of the hours to get the money I need.
Hi. My Nieces name is Annabelle Elizabeth :3. I don't have my phone wire here to upload a pictures.
Also did anybody watch that programme on the BBC about the Elephants and the Matriarch called Echo? I've just spent the last 30 minutes crying watching it ;_;.
A couple of nights ago my Step-Mum's mother passed away. She was such a lovely lady :D, she was told she had terminal cancer some months ago and she'd been unable to keep a meal down for a few weeks so the news wasn't that much of a surprise. Still, it's very sad news.
Before I had chance to actually take it in and actually get upset about it I was informed by my Dad my sister (step-sister really but <3) was in hospital after going for her routine check-up as she's 7 months pregnant. Her blood pressure was really high and the doctor wanted to perform a caesarean (thankyougooglechromespellcheck) as soon as possible. She got transferred and at 3:03PM she was delivered making me a very happy Uncle! :).
I'm not allowed to see her yet due to how premature she is, but I'll be sure to get my Dad and Step-Mum to take some pictures (and maybe upload here :)).
I've already learnt how to remember her birth details.
It was 3:03.
She weighed 3 pounds.
And it was on the 3rd day of the week.
She's still unnamed.
Hey, remember that blog complaining about my lack of job? Well I now have two! I'm an employee of both Argos and Iceland, I don't expect anybody who isn't British to have heard of those stores ^_^, but they're pretty big stores here. I've only been working at Argos since this weekend and I've literally just came back from my Induction evening to Iceland; which was composed of watching virtually the same video's I had to watch in Argos about health and safety, violence, think 25 and all that jazz. I really really like Argos at the moment, all the staff are really nice (and fit) and welcoming (and fit) :). Iceland on the other hand appears to be full of chavs, but hey ho! Iceland is paying me £1 more than Argos is and I'll be working more hours for them running up to Christmas. In total I'll be working 9 and a half hours a week at Iceland for £6.08 and 6 hours a week for Argos at £5.18 an hour. Argos is only on weekends and Iceland is only weekdays so it works out well, hopefully I'll still manage to stay on top of my school work, if I don't I'll just think about which one to quit ^^.
That's caught up on that, in terms of driving my test is unbelievably soon, hopefully I'll be less nervous this time, just take it slow, and hopefully pass!
Also I've pretty much said goodbye to any social life till after christmas with both these jobs and exams, so that's kind of depressing :), but hopefully worth it.
My addiction to San Andreas Multiplayer has diminished which is excellent news.
That is all- I think. I'm sure there was something else, which I specifically wanted to write about. Oh well I'll edit it in.
I THINK I REMEMBER.
I've managed to short-list which Universities I wish to apply for! Let me know if yours match up! :D
1. Cardiff - Psychology with Professional Placement
2. Bangor - Psychology
3. UWE (University of West of England in Bristol) - Psychology
4. University of Birmingham - Psychology (noticing a pattern yet?)
5. University of Nottingham - Psychology
Although I'm not sure if I should change Nottingham for a crapper university, one which I can pretty much guarantee a place in, as all of these require at LEAST ABB - AAB :).
edit: my blog title was the same as herty's can't be doing that.
Wasn't that whole expect us thing supposed to happen yesterday??
Also; I have lots to blog about, I think, which I'll probably do tomorrow afternoon, so expect that, because I know you all care so much about my life, also I've started to realize I suck at English and grammar and use of punctuation, particularly noticeable by the amount of commas in this single sentence, owell.
Last weekend all the GTA games were on sale on Steam and I got them all for £4.99. I now have an extremely unhealthy obsession with San Andreas Multiplayer :(. It's so awesome, I've been playing on Kevin/Moving Targets server off youtube, and it really is good fun. Anybody else happen to play?
I don't remember if I blogged about it but I did get that job at Argos in the end and I had an interview with Iceland today which went well, the woman sounded quite promising and said I'll find out tomorrow at 3. But she also told me all the details off the staff events coming up that I should clear in my diary :D, so unless she has some amazing interviews with people tomorrow I feel pretty confident. I feel especially confident after I ended up packing bags and preparing all the stuff for delivery for half an hour. She asked me to spend 5 minutes at the end of a till to see how I interact with customers, half an hour stacking crates of shopping bags and packing said bags; was very exhausting in a suit.
However if I do get it, I'm not sure if I should actually take it :D. I suppose it depends on how many hours I'd be contracted to. I'll already be doing 6 hours a week at Argos, which obviously isn't a lot, but I really should be focusing on finishing my A-Levels and I can ask for more hours at Argos...
After writing that I actually hope she denies me tomorrow >.<.
I have a very, very strong urge to get back into RuneScape.
Been watching RS videos all night, I'm going to resist though for the good of my social life, school work and bank account ;_;.
edit: Also I want more people off sals on skype, (so add me <<<<) -inb4 nobody does <_<.
So I got home from school today, very stressed in regards to a number of things, particularly my IT coursework and UCAS form. I decided I'd get home, walk to Tescos and treat myself to a new pad of paper and some new pens (:( yeah I'm lame I know), then use these to make some flashcards for my Psychology exam. So it was a set plan, I make the trip and they have no paper or pens. :o. I honestly could have stood there and cried, I asked the Tescos man if he had any in the store room and he said "No, obviously we'd put it out if we had any and we put the out of stock sign there for a reason".
So I bought a loaf of bread and some carrots for my step-dad and walked back home, distraught at the lack of pens and new paper.
Now the current pad of paper I have smells like sick (idk it was like it when I bought it, which is way I wanted a new one) so I sat for about 10 minutes spraying aftershave at it. Anyway, I finish this task and then start putting all my dividers from my folders into plastic wallets.
THEN THE PHONE RANG.
Turns out my home phone has been playing up, it doesn't tell us when we've missed a call and there's no answering phone. But it was Argos! and I've been offered a job! :-D. As a result I was v happy, have to go there next Thursday with some stuff, then they'll give me my new shirt, trousers and jumper and I'll be officially an employee :').
:o :o
Now I'm sitting quite happily with sicky paper :-).
tl;dr I have a job.
edit: Oh and I've rebooked my Driving Test so fingers crossed ^_^ .
