After haning out for what was actually not a very long time at the draynor willows, I acheived my biggest goal yet: 60 woodcutting!. this is now my highest levelled skill, and I find yew trees to be a comfortable source of income, largely because they take around the same time to chop as lobsters but way, WAY faster to bank. <3 .
Because I now had this insane source of money, I was able to buy "my" rune armour set (l) back from the GE. So now I can work on my goals of 50+ all skills ('cept prayer and ranged....I really don't like them, far too time-consuming and troublesome to be worth it for level 50).
In other news, I purchased a RuneScape membership card (30 days) from WHSmith today, and look forward to using it in the easter holidays (I have 9 days holiday left atm so not worth bothering with until I get to the easter hols. I look forward to putting up some torn curtains in my POH, and even farming the odd cabbage =P . The most exciting things about members for me are Construction, More quests, Acheivement diaries and more land! Perhaps these perceptions will change when I play on a members server, who can tell?
I'm just chilling at the black knight's fortress now...
My first rare. Aww yeeeeeehhh! I’m so so pleased. After selling pretty much all the stuff I could afford to sell in aid of the project (full rune, rune warhammer, rune chain) and scraping together all my cash, I had enough to buy a black platebody (g). I’ve always liked the looks of ‘em , ever since I first saw them. They just look…cool. Hoping to get the legs later tonight. I’m telegrabbing zammy wine for it, should work I think.
Zammy wine is OK with one person, but not for 2. Another guy with Guthix Helm crashed it, and after switching many worlds, most had people :D . So, I looked on Runescoop. Didn't exactly want to smelt steel bars (superheating won't make money, and that's how I do 'em) . So, after looking on Runescoop, I hit upon lobsters. after trying for one inventory at Musa Point, I decided it was too slow. RuneScoop said Waters might be good money, so I'm doing that now. Runecrafting=Lotsa Running and Running + Lag =/= fast. I'm stuck. Perhaps I should try and get 60 wcing soon, then I'll have yews to fall back on. Oh and I got 51 Runecraft!
(I’ll upload a pic when I have the legs)
That's me, wearing my black (g) with a Runecrafter hat, worn-out black gauntlets form the fist of Guthix minigame, and a black 2h.
Got 50 Magic. (picture in Standard detail, my comp didn’t seem too happy) Fist of Guthix was very, very slow and dull (got 36 tokens tho), so I stopped shortly after starting. Tried superheating, warily, and it was beautifully quick, with minimal loss. (But no profit, I assure you). I’ll use that again if I need to train magic, I do after all have a long term goal of 59 magic (last f2p unlock before teleblock) so I’ll be doing that mild, relatively easy fun activity again. Not much is unlocked for the f2p mage at level 50, except for the pleasing fact that my Wizard’s mind Bomb in the bank now raises my level by 3 for a short time. Which…isn’t really that useful but sounds nice. Perhaps I’ll use it for Alchemy at level 52. In other news, I used the willow logs from 52 woodcutting to burn my way 7 levels up firemaking. A nice little private Fireworks display :D .
I’m now only 500xp away from a smithing level, so I’ll go and get that now!
Done it, I can now smith Mith Hatchets. I wonder if anyone buys mith hatchets. They are a quest item after all, so…hmmm…
Just spent 240k on crafting. It’s addictive O_o I don’t feel great about that. Hopefully I’ll get some money back! got 50 Crafting, and facepalmed the fact that I forgot to get a screenie. I've been wanting it for a while. Now I've completed all my short- term goals . I wonder how much 43 prayer will cost.
Will add pics later.
I got the Pinball random event for my first time today. I didn’t think it was bad, but it was a little too easy to misclick as the camera kept switching round. Still, not bad, and for the first time ever I got to see trolls! Now, I like randoms, because they offer me xp lamps, a good way to train my prayer other than combat (takes ages) and buying bones (expensive). Being f2p, we don’t have any of this Ectofunctus (nice name btw Jagex-sounds Phsycedelic!) or Gilded altar nonsense you members get. We just bury bones the old fashioned way, and so...it takes freakin' ages to level. So, I eagerly opens the random event gift and...let the picture speak for itself. Firstly, rubbish rewards, and secondly, no xp lamp!
In other news, I got 51 woodcutting down at draynor. It's unusual to be in such a woodcutty mood :) .
Mining. Is. Boring.
But I still really want 55! I suppose I can’t have my cake and eat it-I can either buy my ores or (oops!) mine them, but If I want to mine them I’m going to need to do a whole load of boring mining.
Things I like about mining:
• You can mine your own ores, which you then smelt into bars for smithing xp, and then can make into useful (or not so useful-mithril daggers anyone?) items and sell. In short, you can be self-sufficient.
• Mining higher-ish level ores can make cash. For example, I can mine gold ore and sell it for quite a bit, and when I hit 55 If I can’t be bothered to smelt my mithril (unlikely) I can sell the ore for good money :) )
Things I don’t like about mining:
• Xp rates are slooooooooooooooooooooooooooow! I need to mine more than 2000 iron ores to get to level 55-that’s all dull, hard, grind!
• Mining is so competitive, and with other high-level miners I can’t compete! They can take the ore from the rocks before I have even lifted my pickaxe!
• Mining wastes so much time getting to and from a bank.
• Mining requires an expensive stack of nature runes to be efficient to train without a bank, with smithing.
• Mining is boring. Everyone is out for themselves on the ores, so friendly conversations don’t always happen. Often you can spend quite a while down in the mines, and not even start one sociable conversation. There may be no-one in canting-what to do?!
In short, I love mining because it helps me train smithing, but mining in itself is a really boring, unproductive skill that takes way too long to level in f2p.
Well, I’ve decided to give mining a break for now. 55 mining won’t be anytime soon. So now I need to get to 50 Magic. How? I was going to use the spell Superheat item to train it and make 0.17 gp per cast with steel bars. However, as I’m sick of mining and that stuff, I don’t want to do that. It looks like a couple of trips to the Fist of Guthix (also known as the Eye of Saradomin) are in order. And that may not be fast xp either, but at least it’ll be cheap. And perhap’s I’ll pick up some sort of reward. I’m familiar with the game due to the large amounts of time I spent getting Runeccrafting gloves in it, earning the title “Runner noob”. What kind of noob stays in the centre at level 56, I ask you? Some of them don’t even understand the combat triangle though, I got 15 tokens last game by sending an entire game running away from a level 82, and then maging him quickly in his metal armour. So, yeah, looks like I’m gonna play some fist of Guthix. Berserker shield, or Rune Gauntlets? Do I need either? At the moment my Rune armour set is sitting in a Grand Exchange box, to save bank space. Goodness knows when I’m gonna get It out.
Once I’ve done that, the idea of some honest woodcutting is starting to appeal to me. I’m level 50, so If I can get to level 60 and then chop yews to 75, I’ll have a lot of logs. A lot of Cash. After talking to someone in the mines yesterday (one mining level below me) who had wizard robes (g), one of the best f2p status symbols for “I’m rich”, he told me he had got the money from levels 1-42 ores, levels 60-72 yews, and from getting 5 and 3million in a drop party. I’m staggered. Time to start saving up.
Weel, just did some Fist of Guthixing. It's not great, but it is pushing my magic up ok, which is good. My Runecrafter robes are also really helpful there, so I'm gonna be selling my combat robes on the GE and maybe buying sosme levels with the money. Also I got some coal, so I will do 50 superheats...hopefully that might make some money, so that's good. I'm so glad natures are cheaper than they used to be, just as I'm buying into them.
After chopping many rather small oaks with my trusty rune hatchet, I got 50 woodcutting. (Another skill ticked off the list :P . ) Maybe sometime I’ll get 60, who knows?
Anyway, to do that I chopped 475 Oak logs, which with the handy price checker I found was worth 32.775 gp. Not a lot, so when I’m next in the mood to paint Varrock orange, they’ll meet my tinderbox.
Because I was a little bored, last night I googled my RS name. Look what the cat brought in! :D lol I was very amused.
Now to cook some Tuna, get that 50.
I mean, when I say "Short Term goals" I mean: Short Term!
EDIT: 50 Cooking Acheived, I can now make the highest form of f2p cuisine-Chocolate cakes :( . I did it cooking Tuna at the Grand exchange, just like Den the Men with his 99. 'cept I burned some ;) . The Zybez calculators are really useful in thisregard, as they told me the exact number of Tuna I needed to cook-75, so I bought 100.
Time to update my Introduction goals: but I think I'll leave the stats for later tonight :D .
EDIT: I have no idea how this works, but I did NOT, repeat NOT write this blog at 2.44 am. I wrote during the evening of Christmas eve! :D Somehting's messed up! I also put it up after the 2 blogs above, "Speechless" and ""50 Wcing". So yeah, confused.....
Well, here I am again. I seem to be posting reasonably often, perhaps I’ll slow down soon. Anyways, today I thought I’d be posting about helping friends quest. It’s great fun, and well worth doing once in a while. Even if you’ve already done the quest in question (no pun intended :D ), it can be great to guide someone through it.
I did this 2 days ago with Goldenosprey, who was wondering how to do Rune Mysteries. After looking up a quick guide on the Runescape Wiki, I met him in, Lumbridge, where he met the duke. We then travelled to Sedridor in the dark basement of the Wizard’s tower, where I noted that the altar (which no longer has any use in the “Restless Ghost” quest) cannot be prayed at. Very Weird. Anyhow, knowing that Goldenosprey needed to see the great Runecrafter Aubrey at Varrock, I enquired as to his proficiency in Magic-it was 24! Opening a blue drink bought in the city of the white knights, I gave him the essence of Law, Air and Fire and bid him drink and teleport. He did so, one of the best uses I have yet found of the Mind Bomb I habitually store in my bank (along with a Dwarven stout-P’raps I’ll use it at 59 mining ;) ). Waiting to see his blue and purple smoke vanish into the skies of Gielinor, I too used those same essences to visit Aubury. We then ran back down to Sedridor again, and Goldenosprey’s quest was finished-he could now craft runes!
I also did this with Extremist111, who needed a Black Arm Gang member to help him retrieve the shield of Arrav. Having already (rather mysteriously I might add :( ) found this self-same shield before within the boundaries of the Phoenix gang’s (of which he was a member) lair, he suggested I go on another account created by him, “Purepwnagex3”. I did, the most surreal out-of-body experience I have had yet. Dressed in unusual clothes with a hairstyle I’d never even considered before, I used the sword Silverlight to slay the Weaponsmaster of the Phoenix gang. A full black arm gang member now, I recovered half of the legendary shield of Arrav in a cupboard upstairs (never before seen territory for Helm360, who was feeling rather queasy at that point in time). Trading in our shield halves for certificates to Varrock Museum curator Haig Halen, we then showed the certs to King Roald, who in a state of Déjà Vu gave me half the reward for the shield’s return: a full 600gp!
Wait, what? 600gp?! That’s half the reward, so the full reward for the return of the shield of Arrav, a legendary piece of equipment said to be able to repel undead monsters, was 1200gp?! As set out by the father of King Roald?! I can only assume there must have been severe inflation between the generation, because 1200gp can’t even buy an adamant longsword! The shield is instrumental in defending all of Misthalin! 1200gp?! How the **** is any adventurer going to return the shield if they are told that the reward is 1200gp?! I could make more money during the tie spent getting it by cutting logs, burning them, and selling the ashes! It can take flippin’ ages to find an opposite gang member at the Grand Exchange. For my reward, I want: Experience lamps with 10k xp inside (3 of ‘em), 30,000gp, and a funky new piece of equipment-perhaps the shield of Arrav itself! Obviously I wouldn’t be able to unlock the true potential of the shield yet, but it would be as strong as…say…an addy kite uncharged, right?!
Back on track….[maybe a little OTT but still]
Latest incidence of friend questing was helping a friend open the magic door in dragon slayer. First he asks me: can I make unfired bowls? (level 40 crafting). Yes, I can, I tell Sapphireswan to get me some water and clay. He’s switched on, so he brings me soft clay, we run to barb village, where I make the thing, and then we go underneath Ice Mountain, having beforehand talked to the Oracle (notice the white tree of Gondor? Used in garden of tranquillity, or so I’m told.) He drinks the Mind Bomb. Oh yes. He drinks the mind bomb. As soon as he drinks it, I yell “No!!!” and he yells “Nooo!!!” and I yell “You drank it!!” and he yells “I drank it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”. Ho hum. I cabbage-port, much to his dismay, and arrive back with 3 mind bombs, just in case ;) . He can’t use them on the door. We decide that it must be that he has to get the map pieces in order, so we start kitting up for Melzar’s when we have to go. I look back on the Wiki quest guide, and facepalm the fact that I should have read it better earlier. He says he’s been using a guide from RuneHQ. Ah. That explains EVERYTHING! What?! How? RuneHQ isn’t that bad! No, but he probably didn’t talk to the guildmaster about everything. And just like that, he can’t talk to the Oracle about the door, and he can’t use objects on the door. Now I understand. But he’s gone. *sighs*. Ho hum. You live and learn. Luckily if he goes gallivanting off to Melzar’s maze next, (without my full advice ;) Uh oh!) he will have talked about that, because he needs the key. Thank goodness.
This is my favourite moment in f2p questing-other than lifting Elvarg's head. It's just beautiful!
I'll add images of various locations when I can be bothered, I forgot to take any during d slayer help and hadn't started this blog with the previous 2.
It’s Christmas tomorrow! :P
So, to get my 50 woodcutting I've been hanging around varrock east entrance, chopping oaks. Why not willow, I hear you say. Well, the Willows at draynor (only decent place I know) are crowded with woodcutting levels higher than me, making that difficult. Willows also aren't worth much, and money is...well...important to a guy who only has around 300k. So, instead of burning the oaks I chop, I'm going to bank them, and then, at level 50, see how much they are worth. If they're worth a lot, I'll probably keep 'em, if practically nothing, 40 firemaking here I come! (current firemaking level=35, woodcutting level=48).
What has this got to do with Border Gates? Well, the border gate between the bank and the trees is really annoying. Firstly, it slows you down to a walk, slowing your way to the bank and leading to you twiddling your thumbs. Second, should you click (destination) while walking through, at the end of the walkthrough you'll have that destination erased, and replaced with the previous one.
This jsut adds to become really frustrating. So I'm wondering: are border gates still there on "noob-free" worlds (1000+ total level)? If they were, this might give me an etra incentive to train up, because at the moment they are annoying me and they also annoyed me while training runecrafting at the earth altar.
I think that's all. Should be getting 50 woodcutting soon, then I can move onto more interesting skills.
(I did get this before I started the blog, but decided to include it anyway.)
After some hard Fist-of-Guthixing yesterday, I finally got my last pair of Earth Runecrafting gloves, allowing me to get a very quick last 13,000 xp! :D Happily running to the Earth altar and back, I finally got 50 Runecrafting Can't give you a screenie due to message at top. However if I ever get round to it I'll post a screenie of the great orb project, or the guild, or something.
The guild is cool, and the minigame, the great Orb Project, was successful at first. Then failing to win for several rounds :P I opted for a 50/50 clan, and made my tokens that way :( . This gave me full Runecrafter Robes and an extra 56k for the day, which was a nice bonus. I’ll probably play some more 50/50 sometime, it’s a nice relaxing way of making money. Unless you get someone annoying who “Crashes” the game, namely in my case Lady c00kies. After (player whose name I forget) blocked her orbs (or so she said), she got “pssed” at him and decided that she was going to get as many green orbs as she could into the altar (when we were going for yellow orbs inside). Irate as she was, the rest of our 50/50 clan hopped worlds, while she stayed put. Hooray. *sighs* ;) a while later, I had all the stuff I needed and a funky new outfit :D .(seen in blog below)
Hi, I’m Helm360.
After watching a video a while back about RS blogging, and after reading Timothy Gold’s introduction about how useful blogging was, I’ve decided to give it a go. So in a way this is more for me than for you, but I like the idea of starting up a blog.
I have also decided that this is going to include nearly everything I do in RS. Even some of the dull stuff. I am also not going to be posting while at school, because I need to work then. I’ll let you know when I’m going to be away for a long time.
Short term goals:
• 50 Runecrafting.
• 50 Magic.
• 50 Woodcutting.
• 50 Cooking.
• 50 Crafting. (added to short because I feel like it :P )
Mid term goals:
• 60 Mining.
• 55 Magic.
• 50 Firemaking.
• 40 Ranging. (added to medium goals, as I don't think ranging is that great)
• 50 Attack.
• 50 Defence.
• 50 Strength.
~45 Prayer(added to medium because I reallly should be getting round to that ;) )
Long term goals:
• All skills (except prayer) 50+.
• 70 Smithing.
• 70 Crafting.
Extra long term goals:
• 1000+ total level.
• 12.5M+ xp
I'm not sure quite how to upload images yet, as I don't have the money to pay for online hosting. :(
EDIT: Thanks to Da Scotsman, I am now able to upload images :D
Or, not, as the case may be :D .
It worked! IT WORKED! Ahhahahhahahahaha! Thank goodness for that!
