Lately, we've been having somewhat of a problem with mice. Our estate was built around 8 years ago, on top of one of the biggest farms in the county, which may explain it. Though, in the last 6 years we had only one mouse (in my room, naturally, the amount of food and drink I keep in here makes it somewhat of a Holy Grail that all mice should aspire to find.)
However, in the last month we've killed 3. We then saw a very fat one, who has now had children.
I'm not really known for being the epitome of manliness at the best of times.
So imagine, if you will, my reaction to this:
I arrived home from school today, opened the garage door, stepped inside and whilst turning to close the door my heel stepped on something, so I brushed it aside while I shut the door.
Turned around to go inside the house, looked down and saw a very startled looking mouse, dead in a mousetrap, that I have just stomped on and kicked.
Though in my defence, it was a more of a yelp than my usual squeal.
My exams begin in the morning. I'm lying here absolutely wetting myself. I had this exam last year and I got a D in it. Well the written part anyway, overall I got a C. this time if I don't get a B it's going to make it a lot more difficult to get a B in my overall English literature A-level, which ultimately means it will be a lot more difficult to get into university because the lowest grade I can get in order to ne accepted into my choices is B, which seemed acceptable at the time but now I'm not so sure very worried indeed.
I'm really beginning to regret not making an insurance choice for university. :D
Whether you're a fan of WWE or not; watch these two videos, and if you can explain what in the blue hell is going on, I'll give you the money myself.
The first video is a promotional video advertising Brodus Clay, a monster bad ass that's going to tear everyone to shreds.
And this is his debut on RAW last night.
Somebody call my mama?
And not a drop for me! Yet!
I whined a little last week about my old job owing me money; I eventually got £106 off them. As well as £46 the month before, then yesterday I got a letter off Customs and Revenue saying I'd been taxed £40 - meaning I'd been paid in total £192. I shouldn't have been taxed and will be able to claim that £40 back. So, I went through everything thoroughly and counted my hours and wrote down exact dates, and worked out I'm still owed £120. Phoning the assistant manager back in 5 mins after he's had another check for me to sort this out. So, now that I have exact numbers, hopefully I should be able to get that.
My phone provider owed me £38 but were only refunding £13, so I phoned them yesterday and got that sorted, got a phone call back today saying I'm entitled an extra £5 for some reason, so I'll take that too!
However, I was then charged £9.99 for some insurance I didn't know I had and had to go through the effort on cancelling that! And I needed that money! Boo!
Then, I received a check for £79.99 I was owed; which I in turn owe to my mother :).
So hopefully I've got this all sorted out now, just need to phone assistant manager and the Tax man! Effort!
I think I've narrowed down a few essentials as to what I need in life from another person; so if anyone has ever wanted to be my life partner - here's your chance!
1 - Must be a big WWE fan. Or at the very least; be able to feign an incredible amount of interest and enthusiasm - particularly towards the Royal Rumble, Booker T and Kharma.
2 - Must be willing to play WWE games with me on xbox until blue in face.
3 - Must be willing to watch Pearl Harbour with me at least once a month.
4 - Must be game to watch dramatised films on middle ages - 20th centuary monarchs.
5 - Must be willing to let me drive when we go anywhere.
6 - Has to enjoy spooning - I need a cuddler!
7 - Has to love Susan Boyle.
8 - Must be willing to go to live WWE events with me; and get up at stupid o'clock to get front row seats on day of release!
9 - Must be a worse dancer than me - and believe me when I say it is difficult!
10 - Must be willing to bless the rains down in Africa.
I realize I potentially should've made this yesterday, before those damn Australian-ish-types made it to 2012. But I'm going to go for one last blog entry of 2011 - just for the sake of it, because there's nothing particularly worth mentioning at the minute.
Christmas was a great period; my parents outdid themselves yet again and further proved I am in fact a spoiled brat. In February 2011 I got my first car - this meant I wasn't meant to be getting anything for my 18th, or for Christmas - and hell, it's a car! I was totally okay with that!
But still, around my 18th birthday I still managed to do exceptionally well, getting some gorgeous gifts; one of my favourite being a crystal decanter (hello 1920s)!
Then, for Christmas, I think I got more than I've ever gotten before! I got an iPhone 4S on a 2 year contract off my mum, some great xbox games and a kindle off my dad! Along with loads of other great gifts, truly superb.
On the downside I've been really under the weather with a strong headcold since Christmas day, which has really stopped me dead in my tracks. But nontheless, we're going out to a meal in 20 minutes and a fireworks display after, which should be nice. I'll be honest and say I'd sooner spend the new years with my friends, but my family still insist on this, I get Christmas at home with my mum and New Year in England with my Dad. I suppose I'll see them both a lot less next year when I go to university anyway.
Retrospectively 2011 was a pretty kick ass year for me. I passed my driving test and got my first car. Got my first job. Went on a school trip to Washington and New York. Passed my AS levels. Went on a 2 weeks holiday around the UK with my mum. Went to Mexico with my dad. Went to Runefest with Tabt and Goggie, and met some incredible people, and broke my hand. Started my last year of high school. Went to the WWE televised events twice - and ended up on TV! Got my second job - and subsequently quit it and am still trying to get the pay off those fudgers. And wrapped the end of the year off with a lovely christmas period and am headed into 2012 with more confidence about my exams than usual, with 4 university offers under my belt, all of which I'd be lucky to go to :D
So as 2011 ends and 2012 begins - I leave you with this. My 15 minutes of fame, being spotted on TV with WWE star Christian!
After a month of being fobbed off by my previous boss, and not being paid what I'm owed - the assistant manager finally sorted out my payment after 3 phone calls a day for almost a week.
I've now been paid half of what I'm owed.
Seeeeeeeriously, pay me my damn monies!
Why must they constantly release in-game items via membership cards and other subscription methods?!
If I buy the latest one I'll have membership until December 29th 2012.
The world won't even last that long
I am genuinely beginning to believe that I am a woman.
Every month, at some point, without fail, I get my man-period. And this month, at the height of festivity, I am experiencing my biggest period yet!
After a really long day at school, that consisted of being told I'd more or less thrown my future away, and that my exams in January were as good as failed already. I then got abducted by a teacher, who locked the door and wouldn't let me leave until I'd written an entire essay, whilst a class full of 15 year olds mocked me. The minute I got through the door I had to take my mother to physio and ended up being at work 30 minutes early as a result! BLAM!
So, irate enough, I had to drop my brother & sister off at two separate locations while my mum went out, and then take her into town for physio. I was driving along a road, past the exit to my school, and queued in the end of day traffic. I let out a car from the queue (standard), and two more cheeky ones slipped past. Eventually I decided enough was enough and moved off to get to the other side of the gate, blocking it in the process, but if you let everyone out you'll get nowhere, right?
Then this man, picking up his daughter, started beeping at me! I beeped back, and he gave me the fingers. I beeped more, swore loudly and went to get out of the car. (I'm a complete weed, with no muscle to speak of and have never been in a fight in my life!) So, I, mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!!! Got out of the car, to engage in a brawl with a full grown man! Meanwhile, my mum, in a neckbrace and barely able to walk is yelling at me to get back in the car!
And, to my *unfathomable delight* - the man looked at me (in my new leather jacket ), and drove off! I don't care what anyone says, let it be known that in the midst of my man sized period - I won a showdown with a man twice my age. Unimaginable Pride.
Well, technically, I finished all my Christmas shopping last weekend, but the entire house (all 7 of us) took the days off work and school respectively, and went into Belfast at midday to spend a day shopping in Belfast and an evening at the Belfast Christmas Continental Market.
The market comes every year and it's truly wonderful, it's set up for a month over the Christmas period outside the city hall, and has stands with foods from all over the world. Yet, naturally, any time I go there I fail to buy anything other than Hog Roast straight from Wales
There's also a huge beer hall set up, and stalls with various shiny bits and bobs trying to lure in those who are obsessed with buying tat that won't last the journey home (like me!).
And to top it off, when I woke up this morning, the whole world had a three foot blanket of snow! Christmas! (as much as I hate the snow, it was a nice concept, going to the Christmas market amidst a snowstorm).
We spent a good 6 hours in the middle of Belfast shopping too, where I bought myself an new coat, a keyring with an ice scraper on it for the car, and an angry birds hat!
I am so photogenic.
I'm in such a pissy mood all the time, and I completely hate it. Since I last blogged I finally managed to find my manager, quit and did my last shift. I'm still owed £250 by them, and even though I've rung twice and been in once now, they don't seem to be moving towards paying me, and I need that money as I have a £100 payment due on Tuesday.
I've never really noticed how much of a volatile person I can be in terms of my mood, I swear I'm more hormonal than that 14year old girl with the weight of the world on her shoulders. I have such an addictive personality though, so I shouldn't be surprised.
This year is my final year of high school, and after almost 7 years it's time to move on, a thought which utterly brings me down, because quite frankly, I've had the time of my life in high school, which I think is a great experience to be able to take away. And for my last year, I said I was going to do everything one last time, school concerts, plays (I usually audition and usually have some part or other), but this year, I did nothing so far. I didn't audition for the play or sign up for backstage, and have just been extremely jealous of everyone involved because of the fun they've been having! (Make up your mind man!!!) Seriously, you all better watch it or I may steal your toys :P
My insane addiction to the Gilmore Girls is the root of all my problems. I go to bed at ~12:30 am and always watch at least 2 episodes before sleeping with the TV on, so them Gilmore Girls are limiting me to five hours sleep a night, and I refuse to shoulder the blame for this anymore!
On the upside, works going swimmingly now I'm working non-stupid numbers of hours, I've caught up on my school work, my marks have already started to climb back up and I've had three university offers. Can't really complain, but it's fun to do, so I will!
So, it's been a pretty hectic few weeks for me. And I'm more or less at the point where getting out of bed is nothing short of an award winning achievement. For a month now, I've been working two jobs, on top of full time education and various other commitments.
I was just about coping at both jobs until last week. I've not enjoyed my new job at all, and I was given the opportunity to take on more hours at my original job, so I decided I'd do that, and quit the second job, because I'll be fine with the pay from just the one. So, after agreeing to the 6 hours a week extra there, (Thursday shift), I checked the rota at the second for this week, turns out I'm working 6 days, or 33 hours. Plus 30 hours of schooling and I've had a lovely 63 hour week this week, and it isn't over yet. I've had one day off in the last twelve days and I'm feeling quite poopy.
My schoolwork has started to fall behind at the time in my life when it's more crucial than ever before that I pass. So I've been trying all week to quit the second damn job, I've been in three times now - and the manager's never there! I could just phone I suppose, but I'm anticipating at least 2 weeks notice, and I personally don't think it's right not to say these kinds of things face to face, and working notice after a phone call would probably be even more unbearable.
So, I've written down his working hours, and am making extra sure I catch him in the morning to talk to him. Following that I have to go into the O2 shop and spend a couple hours setting up a contract for the new iPhone (hurray!), and get my first phone in three years, great considering the old one is on the verge of crumbling :P
On top of that, due to exhaustion (and the fact I don't finish the job I'm quitting until ~11:30PM, getting home and into bed no earlier than 1AM), I've slept in nonstop for the last two weeks and barely sat down to enjoy my new xbox games. I don't think I've ever taken on more than I can handle before, so I'm definitely looking forward to packing one in, booking a couple days off the other and just lying around and stewing in my own filth for a week around Christmas :P
Then into January for 5 exams in 4 days >.<
On the bright side, I got the cast off my hand on Monday, I still have a small supportive brace I'm supposed to wear for 3 weeks, but I usually just wear that in school and in bed. I got the new assassin's creed game and new WWE xbox games. Got emailed a code for a promotional pack I earned by pre-ordering WWE, but the code didn't work, so now they're sending me an entirely new game as a result! And, on top of that, I qualify for a brand new iPod nano from apple, since there's a problem with 1st generation Nanos, so I should be receiving that in the next few weeks :)
I pre-ordered my WWE '12 game through Amazon for same day delivery, and it arrived a day before the UK release date <_<
Now I have to go to work and can't spend the next 12 hours nerdgasming over it :(
Also, didn't get put into the Jagex 1 in 100,000 subscribers video - grrr!
EDIT: And I just got received my first conditional university offer from the University of East Anglia :)
At my dad's at the minute, after being refused boarding yesterday due to my hand ( ^_^ ), made it over tonight.
Tomorrow and Tuesday I'm going to WWE Raw and Smackdown respectively, both of which will be the real deal, live on worldwide TV, and I have ringside seats to both!
So excited!! :)
Yes, I can confirm I broke two knuckles and fractured my hand, punching balloons for party hats at runefest
The rubber chicken isn't really relevant.. but... you know... it's a rubber chicken... named Sally.
First off - I'm going to sum up Runefest in a few words. Unforgettable. Unmissable. Socially welcoming and an all out hoot!
Could not have asked for a more enjoyable weekend, spent with better people if I'd tried! By the end of it my camera was hissing steam just trying to keep up with my demands on it! :P
For me, the long weekend began at 4AM Friday morning when I had to wake up to get dropped off to Belfast airport, catching a flight to London Gatwick at 6:30, and *hopefully* meeting Tabt there at around 8. After a few kinks, in which she wasn't getting paid, we managed to sort it out that she was able to come and meet me, (I'd have ended up sitting there until it was time to go home if she hadn't!). So, at 8AM we glomped and went to get some early morning caffeine to start off the day. We then moved into the airport station to get the shuttle to the Northern terminal! (There are trains in the airport! What?!)
The image from the front of the shuttle! We started running at the window and it made it look like we were running really fast :o
We then managed to get to our hotel and got early check in so we could dump our bags (no way could we have lugged those around for a minute longer). Then hopped off into London for a bit of sight-seeing, the London Tower, Millenium Bridge, Shakespeare's Globe theatre, and accidentally stumbled across the venue event! As well as that, Tabt had her runefest 2010 bag on, and whilst trying to give directions to a lady, two big guys with the same bags stood around pointing at her waiting to say hello. Apparently I was vermin, since as soon as I extended my hand to shake one of theirs, he backed away like I had the plague :(
After this we met up with some of Tabt's friends from previous meetups and Runefest 2010, all of whom turned out to be extraordinarily lovely people. We then drank in a pub for a couple hours, and moved onto namco a little early for the "Night Before" gathering, at Namco Arcade in London, which has everything! Including some dodgems where I lost the battery to my phone :( Luckily some kind men found it for me and we made it back to the hotel at around 3AM with some nom nom mcdonalds :o
The next morning Tabt got a call at 6:30 (yes, 6:30!) saying they wanted to go early and get in the queue. No thanks. I'm a bit of a grouch in the morning and refused to get up until the very last minute, and we had a lovely little system in the mornings where I slept and everyone else got readied, then I just fell into some clothes and toothpaste, very efficient.
We got to the actual Runefest event on Saturday morning, in time to queue to get in the VIP section, a little earlier than the rest of the people. Party Pete (gorgeous) was playing outside, as well as some musicians who came very close to having their pipes shoved up somewhere the sun didn't shine (they did not help my hangover - which was only in slight retreat thanks to McDonald's breakfast, paracetemol and pro-plus). When through the door we were given Runefest wristbands, lanyards and goodie bags, with a runefest pin, some signed concept art, a t-shirt and the Runefest item code (which now matches my max cape!)
Inside, the building was decorated to a very high standard, and looked superb, and we saw the balloons (OF DOOM) hanging from the ceiling ready to murder some poor soul the next day. We had a quick mosey into the VIP area (which wasn't all that great) before moving down in the dungeon for a spot of IRL dungeoneering, in which a very reluctant Mod Nexus was forced to lead our team, Sal's Realm, since he couldn't find any other JMods to take us, except one very sad and frightened looking JMod who had been relegated to handing out Rings of Kinship (haribo sweets).
Apparently, our team did absolutely crap, worst of the day (so far), as we were constantly reminded. I managed to solve 0 puzzles myself, apart from the wire at the end, where you had to navigate it without hitting the metal part, which pleased the quizmaster lurking round the corner. He was hilarious and one of the best members of staff at the event, imho.
When we finally escaped with our dungeoneering tokens (there were 8 skills, completing each one gave you a cool skill token, a nice little momento of the weekend), we tried a spot of Sumo wrestling did me and Goggie. The first two rounds Goggie more or less flattended me, and we ended up headbutting with some force, giving me a black eye! I got my retribution in round 3 by knocking him headfirst into a wall and nearly killing him :D
I'm in Green.
After that excitement we played the rest of the skills, did the penguin hunt, watched the bot busting talk (you can see us in the video for that one), popped on line to say hi to sals and get our codes, and then watched the Golden Gnomes, before heading off home to get changed for the halloween party.
For the most part, the party was fun, but the bar was expensive and it ended really early, and we trundled the entire way home at 1am freezing cold :P
Sunday morning we woke up, and got back to the venue about an hour after the festivities began, with the intention of drinking a little more to get a little more social (I'm socially awkward - it helps!). We attended a few more insider sessions, such as the "Sounds like a creature feature" where people made noises and had them manipulated to be the voices of monsters in an update next month - and Tabt got made into a baby dragon!
Shortly after we hit the bar big time, and it showed :P We went to the runescape quiz and the greatest glitches sessions more than a little trollied, sang the Phantom of the Opera loudly and obnoxiously during the quiz, then yelled "NINE THOUSAND AND ONE" at a mod asking about the number of glitches in runescape. By the time the talk for Runescape 2012 came around I had found Mod Emilee who I badgered a bit, and ended up missing the talk completely and instead stumbled around drunkenly, and took a picture of myself with an extremely well hung unicorn statue ;)
Then it was time for the balloon drop with the ballons (OF DOOM!). I can be seen in the highlights video jumping around very drunkenly and happily counting down. When they dropped, I decided it would be a better idea if I were to cover a greater mass by lying down and punching the balloons. After a few, I missed, hit the floor, and broke two of my knuckles. Yes, I now had a black eye and two broken knuckles. At least, talking to Party Pete afterwards, he promised to meet me in the toilet in five minutes, claiming "Party Pete swings both ways!", but alas, never did. I called him out on that a few minutes later and he strolled off, saying, meet me outside, now. He then turned around and said, "If Party pete goes outside he isn't allowed back in." So, I never got Party Petey :P
Then I harassed a lot of the JMods, particularly some pretty ones :D This was more or less the end of the weekend, after which we all went back to Namco for after-event activities, and a 3 hour drunken stumble through the streets of London, before cabbing it back to the hotel,( the taxi drivers never took us right to the hotel for some reason ), some spooning in the bed with Tabt whilst looking through some god-awful-hideous pictures we took :P
The next day my flight wasn't until 7:30PM, and Tabt was kind enough to endure unbelievable tiredness to shepherd me around London, showing me a few sights we hadn't seen on Friday, and get me to the airport, (lav you), and that was the end of a truly amazing weekend, with people who I feel I'll chat to for a long time to come :)
Runefest 2011 x
I'm starting my new job tomorrow. I called today, since they didn't call like they told us they would, and they informed me I was to be working Thursday 5-11, and Sunday 12-10. This wasn't going to work for two reasons : Thursday - I'm still doing the chippy (what would be classed as the notice I suppose), and they knew this. Second of all - I'm at Runefest this Sunday! But, again, they already knew I couldn't do this Sunday.
So I spoke to the guy and told him why I couldn't do them, and am now working tomorrow from 4pm-10pm. I'm absolutely terrified, new stuff always scares me, but that's to be expected, I just need to get a good night's sleep and chill my ass off and relax at school tomorrow!
On a sidenote, I got my haircut today for the first time in about 8 months. Or, I got sheared, should I say?
