I hate getting PMs asking about this, so here's the reasons:
I'm a retired mod now for a few reasons. First of all, I don't have time to do it anymore. I've got too much going on to be able to put half an hour a day into the forums. I'm also not finding the forums much fun anymore. I've become distanced from a bunch of my friends, and the ones I've got are regularly on novus (except for the other person who just retired). Since I started RS in 2001, I've been trying to get the hell off of it. I've tried and failed many times, such as when I left the DM position. However, unlike that time (and every other time I've tried to leave Sal's/RSC/RS), I've now got a semi-busy schedule so I won't be coming back out of boredom- I'll actually be able to leave.
I'll probably hang around for a bit, but don't expect much activity from me. I'll stay on IRC for now (my nick is usually one of these: o, Bolus, Undefined, Captain_Crunch, stv), but I'll hopefully leave that pretty soon, too.
I'll be on Xbox Live as well, but I'm finding it to be a pain in the :glasses: that I've got 30 friends, 20 of which I never play any games with. I've got a bunch of people from Sal's added, and I barely even know most of them, so don't be offended if I remove you from my list.
My router broke... Probably internal failure or something. We called Verizon, and they're sending a new router. But the geniuses over there like to use UPS, and they don't let you pick up packages and they don't deliver on weekends. So I probably would have gotten it tomorrow, but instead I'm without internet until Monday. I'm stealing internet from a neighbor to post this.
See you Monday (or Tuesday, if it takes that long for the router to get here).
You must first clear off enough space for two copies of the movie, and then you may continue.
Tomorrow I'm leaving for a few days to go to Michigan to see my dad's side of the family. It's my grandfather's 80th birthday, so the whole side of the family will be there. My parents are cheapos so we get to drive! The closest airport that I have flown to is O'Hare, and I've only flown there once. So I've gotten used to long drives, and have found that despite my car sickness, one of the best ways to pass time is watching movies either on my iPod or on a laptop. (The other two are, of course, listening to music and sleeping.)
So I acquire movies (let's say legally), go through the hassle of converting them to .mp4, and in the past have simply put them in iTunes and copied over to my iPod. It has been a painless process. Not this time. I've got six movies that I'm placing on my iPod. I originally was short 2GB of space (it's a 30GB iPod Video), so I deleted a few movies that I didn't think I'd watch this week (sorry Team America: World Police and School of Rock). I also deleted some music and some music videos to get down to the point where I had ~5.1 GB free, which is just more than the 4.7 GB that the movies required.
I dragged the movies onto my iPod as one would normally do, and didn't get any "There is not enough space on your iPod" error messages. So I left it going for about 10 minutes, after which I checked back on iTunes. For some reason, The Bourne Ultimatum had not been copied over to my iPod. The rest had. I looked at the free space, thinking making the iPod was retarded and can't calculate space. There are 1.2 GB free. That's more than enough to copy my 800 MB movie. So I tried it again, and realized how retarded Apple really is.
Apparently when you copy over a movie onto an iPod, the movie first is placed on the iPod as an "Other" file. (On iTunes, it shows the free space and used space on the iPod. The four colors are blue for audio, green for video, orange for other, and white for free space.) Once the movie is fully copied over, it is moved into the Video file space. There seems to be a major bug in this system, since when the file is moved to the Video file space, there is an instant in which there are TWO copies of the movie on the iPod. This means that if you have 1.2 GB free on your iPod, minus the .8 GB that your movie is, the .4 GB remaining is not enough to copy the movie over to your iPod.
I deleted my Pete Townshend music (which I'm copying over again now) and the movie was successfully copied over. All seems to be working now, so I've got over 24 hours of movies (14 of them being new) to watch during the 28 hours I'll be spending in a car over the next week. It's just a pain in the to spend 25 minutes on something that should take no more than 10.
And there is my rant for the day. :)
After explaining to my class the unfavorable results of eating genetically modified food, as well as the horrendous conditions that genetically modified animals are raised in, a girl in my class decided to become a vegetarian. I will never forgive myself for this.
Join me in deleting any Tom Petty music that you have on your computer. His music will forever remind me of this terrible day.
Any anti-Patriots comments here will result in my eternal hatred towards you, as well as a possible ban from my blog for some long period of time.
Here's my grades.. A question mark means I'm not sure, since not all of my teachers have given out grades in class. I've included term one (T1), term two (T2), midterm (MT), and last year's (LY) grade in the equivalent class (ex: bio instead of chem).
Pisses me off that yet again I'm most likely going to be one class away from getting all A- or better. >.<
Subject T1 T2 MT LY My Comments

Sounds like this week both shows are having new episodes, which is pretty much completely awesome. I guess the writers are all still in strike, but Jon and Stephen aren't in the guild so they can still write their material and stuff. I haven't actually watched either show yet, but I'll get around to it.. :)
My blog is so boring. ^_^
ive pretty much lost all use of my comp atm (on screen keyboard ). no clue when it'll be working again (which is when i'll be able to come back). hopefully no more than a day or two....
EDIT: Here's a complete explanation of everything that's occurred. Any help would be HUGELY appreciated!
I think I might be getting more presents tonight when I see some more of my family, but I don't like that part of the family very much so if I don't get anything it'll be okay. So far I've gotten Xbox 360 and Halo 3 from my parents, and $80 in cash and $50 in Best Buy gift cards from my aunts/uncles/grandmother. Oh, and I got 13 months of Xbox Live and COD4 from myself. :P
Its kind of bugging me that my brother (2 years older than me) has decided that he can use my 360 whenever he wants. :P When I'm not using it I don't mind, but its really annoying when I'm doing ranked with friends and he forces me to quit and do Social Slayer with him because he refuses to get his own gamertag. :P
Oh, and I don't like Halo 3's multiplayer very much. It REALLY pisses me off when I pull the trigger with a shotgun at point blank range, I hear the sound of the shotgun, and then I see that I've died because I've been beaten down. If I hear the sound of the shotgun, that means the person was hit. So they should die. But instead Bungie has decided that mutual death is nearly impossible to achieve (rocket launcher and grenades are the only ways I can think of atm).
Yay ranting. :P
I got one! My parents are awesome, too, so they bought it for me AND let me open it 3 days before Christmas. I was only home for about an hour yesterday after opening it, so I didn't get to play until around 11 at night. At the moment I've only got Halo 3, but I'm getting COD4 in a day or two. Or three. :P
So apparently you can't get back old gamertags (unless you canceled it after the silver/gold memberships existed), so I was unable to get back my old gamertag. Before I give out my new gamertag, how much information about me is made public? I entered my phone number, zip code, full name, email, and a few other things when I registered it (and they also have my mom's information because I used an old Windows Live ID that had my age as 15 ), and I'd like to keep all of that private. Or at least not public to you guys. :P
Anyhow, I played about 2 hours last night, and have played for around 6 hours today (no lifing ftw! :D ). I'm on The Covenant right now, but I've spent a while working on getting the skulls from previous levels, as well as playing Matchmaking with a friend. :)
Since my parents bought the console and Halo 3 for me, all I've got to buy is COD4 and Xbox Live (I've got a 30 day trial, so I've got a while to buy the 12 month card). Are there any other games I should buy? My friend has Bioshock and Assassin's Creed, which I plan on borrowing (and if they're awesome possibly buying). Including those two games, what 360 games rule? I'm more interested in good Xbox Live multiplayer than I am interested in awesome campaign, but a good campaign is something I'd like.
So if my personal information is all private I'll give out my gamertag publicly, otherwise I'll just give it to a few friends who I trust and would like to play with. :)
In YOUR opinion. Back in 2004 they came out with RS2, a pretty major change to the game. Personally, I liked RS more than I like RS2. I just liked the general feel of the game. You can hate this change as much as you want, but I think a lot of these haters will continue to play. And those who leave aren't going to make much of a difference at all. You can riot all you want, complain all you want, do whatever the heck you want, you're not going to make a difference. Jagex WILL lose a few players from this, many of them members (oh noez! f2p has updates ), but they're going to bounce back. The people who eventually get used to the change and enjoy it will continue to play, and the new members that Jagex gets every day will replace those they lost.
Jagex may lose a few thousand bucks off of this from members quitting, but I think that their net loss will be minimal. They may now be able to put fewer workers towards getting rid of bots and cheaters, and these workers can be put towards making new updates. I've seen people complaining when Monday comes and there is no major update, and maybe they can put these programmers towards developing the game instead of stopping cheaters.
RuneScape is a different game now, but that doesn't mean that it has changed for the worse. If you want to quit because of what's happened, its your choice. Nobody is going to stop you. Especially Jagex. :P
For one reason, and one reason only:
More PM space! The day before I got DM I cleared my inbox out, and now that I've got mod I'm only 12% full so I should be able to go a long time before I have to clean it again. :P
So I hope that the contents of the PM I received informing me of the promotion aren't top secret or anything, since a few bits of it are in the following paragraph. In general, I think its known that mods get PMed in advance asking if they would like the position. Due to reasons I cannot say, I was not PMed. I got a PM at 2:40PM today telling me that I was promoted, and that if I didn't want the position I could get placed back in the DM group. That PM came 22 minutes AFTER the topic was made.
I'm having mixed thoughts about all of this. The idea that the mods actually trust me with this power is a really nice thought to boost my self esteem, considering that its pretty much as low as it can be after completely bombing my chem test today and getting poor grades back in both history and English today. However, my life has been busier than usual recently with track, much more homework than I'm used to, and actually having a bit of a social life. That, combined with my hatred for helping people ( ), is making me question if I really want the position.
Contrary to popular belief, I would not be abusing my power. I actually usually get scared when I'm given power, and end up not using it anywhere near enough. I know what some of the current mods do in terms of having fun with it, but I expect that the fear of demotion will keep me from doing anything bad. Unless there's an obvious reason for any sorts of warns (swearing, posting porn, etc), I don't think I'll be giving any by Christmas. I always fear screwing up, and whenever I make a decision I feel like I'm questioning myself (until I force myself to move on and forget about it).
One of the reasons I'm contemplating demotion are the stories that I've heard from current moderators of spending hours going through the reports. Since I've gotten DM this second time, I haven't completed a single report. I've said this in novus before when I'm sure mods were present, which is part of why I was so surprised when I got home from practice today to see someone on novus saying something about me being green.
Addon: Something I fear that this will do is move some friends away from me. I'm often aware of some not-so-great activity on Sal's that is discussed in novus, and I'm afraid that the position will change who I am so I can't have as much fun anymore. Yeah, I'll be more careful about what I say here, and I'm of course going to do my best to not favor my friends over other people, but if my friends aren't following all the rules are they going to move away from me so they don't get punished for their actions?
So now I'm not sure what I should do. I've written this mostly for me to figure out what my own thoughts are. There's a lot of things going through my head right now, and the one I'm going with the most is that if it ends up being too much work there's always the option of going back to a DM.
I guess they liked the porn this time!
Sorry for being so late with this one, but we recently hit two million posts. Almost a year (362 days) after the millionth post was made. Back then, an average of 2500 posts had been made per day. Over the last 362 days, the average posts per day has been 2762, making the overall average posts per day 2625. So Sal's is definitely growing. >.<
Si, tu mas popular persona esta yendo. Es muy triste... No estoy aqui por una semana y yo recibe unos puniciones para las cosas mas estupido. Por exemplo...
Los mods son NOOBES!!!!!!!!
blah blah blah
Got my report card.. Here's my grades. I included the percent for the ones I knew.
History - A-
English - A (93)
AP Chem - A-
Math - A (98.26)
Spanish - B+ (89.1)
Band - A (100)
Health - A-
So close to getting all A- or better. GPA of the five academic classes is 3.74. Not bad, considering that I was expecting about 3.6.
