Today I woke up sick, but not sick enough to stay home from school. When I got to my first period class, which is Wood Shop, I got to inhale sawdust which didn't help my continuously dry throat. I had to keep blowing my nose every period which is about 50 minutes. Every time I blew my nose, ten minutes later it felt like I had to again. The entire day followed that pattern. And at the end of the day, during my last period before I could leave, I had to listen to a self-praising computer teacher. I really don't think she should be teaching any classes at all. She thinks people would pay thousands for her to design a website for her . I ended up playing Solitare on the computer for the entire period. Our current assignments are to make 7 different spreadsheets in Excel and a complete calendar for 2007 in Word. I finished the calendar the day after she assigned it and now we're several weeks into it. She yells at kids for doing nothing and that they should be working on their calender when they have been done for a while. Also, we're doing the "same" lessons that we did last semester. Last semester I was in Computer Applications I and now I'm in Comp. Apps. II, I figure by now everyone knows how to make a calendar using tables in Microsoft Word by now.
Ok, in a previous post I said I was going to make a grapple hook. Yes, I did finally make it. I got some string I stole from a kite in the garage and tied it on. It works fine so I made another for my brother.
I installed a ceiling fan in my sisters room. Too bad I'm not an electrician because I also did the wiring into the ceiling. I'm going to let my brother be the one to watch it when the power is turned back on. :) Especially when someone has to turn on the fan. It would have been fine but it had poor instructions and it was a multi-speed fan. They have a remote they use to change the speed. Which means somewhere there is a receiver for the remote. That receiver goes from the wires in the fan to the wires in the ceiling. Easy right? Not quite. There are three wires coming out of the fan not including the ground wire, and there are five coming out of the ceiling. When we took off the old fan, the whites, blacks, and red/blue wires were connected to each other. That equals only three wires from the ceiling. There are two black wires coming from the ceiling that were connected to each other. Doesn't make sense to me so I didn't touch those. So the receiver looked like so: =-=
The equal sign and dash are three wires on the left side, and then there are two on the right. So the fan has three coming out which attaches to the left side. That's easy. The right side has two wires that has three available wires in the ceiling. Confusing. This is blabbering on but I think you get the idea of what I had to figure out. I just attached color matching wires together that used to attach directly to the fan and ceiling, now it goes fan to receiver to ceiling.
On top of that, now we have to paint the ceiling because the decorative part is smaller than the old one and doesn't cover up some unpainted parts on the ceiling. All this trouble just for my sister's birthday.
Today was another snow day, so I'm here all day. There's supposed to be 8 inches of snow which I don't think will come, but I don't care because I'm here and it's too late. This makes my weekend upgraded to a Five Day Weekend which makes my brother mad because he got a Four Day Weekend. It goes to show you what people do if the school has a Diversity Day.
Yeah...um...I'll have to admit. Pipe sealant doesn't dry the way I thought it did. I put it on 5 hours ago and nothing has changed. I'm going to look for better glue and some electrical tape to hold it all together.
Today, my High School is having a Diversity Day. No one is going, for it's too biased. I hate the political correctness that's going through the U.S. lately. Not wanting to offend anyone, I'll refrain from saying to whom they're biased towards.
So yeah, I'm here at home still in my pajamas and in my basement in my reclining couch typing up this blog.
I'll type more once I get something to type about. I feel like I'm forgetting something worth my time typing.
Ah, this morning I created a home-made grappling hook. :D I took an old binder and twisted the metal clips (lack of a better word) out of it. Since there are 3 sets of clips/6 seperate clips in the binder, I can make two grappling hooks with 3 clips/hooks each. I couldn't find any Gorilla glue , so I looted my basement and found some plumbing pipe sealant :(, that I'm kind of hesitant about having any effectiveness at all, and glued them together.
Be sure to have someone help you, it makes it easier. I had to use a rubberband on them, though.
I can't post the final results yet though because I'm still letting it dry together.
So if anyone is reading this, pass it on to other Sal's forumers. Make it well known!
I have been sitting here on the computer all day, still sick although not as badly. But I'm thinking that I could have gone to school today. I fear how much homework I'm going to get from two days home from school.
Wood Shop- Probably staining
English-Read Tale of Two Cities
American Citizenship- Economics Report
Algebra- Definitely but ?
Computers- Definitely but ?
Well, to start off, I was sick on Saturday afternoon and all Sunday, probably miss school on Monday...
Bad headache, sore throat, and now a stiff neck, which is all probably more Strep Throat. For the entire day I ate: small bowl of vanilla icecream, and a small cup of broccoli soup from Panera :P. I'll probably have something before I go to bed.
