Screw it, I'm going back to my first impression of this being a prank. People are being too out of character for this to be real. And I feel the insulting is being contained between staff ranks, which would make sense for a prank.
Changes my perspective on so many people I've lost count.
Mods pick directly from general population
New mods have limited powers for a month (or whatever time is thought necessary) to get used to the forum's moderating mechanics, various discussions and modly processes
After this probationary period, current mods re-evaluate the probationary mods on their capabilities and willingness to moderate the forum. Similar to DM -> Modship, I'd suppose.
Because if the mods and admins say that the DMs aren't relieving much workload, making it purely a group for the distinguished, then I'd have to agree with those saying that's the whole purpose of negative warns. E-Hysterics demanding more visible things beyond that are unnecessary, purely for one's own ego, and not at all distinguishing. Not to mention how it makes the fansite look to other fansites.
With the way everyone is acting in here, I'm just waiting for an admin to pop in with "April Fools!!"
The After pictures I had been talking about yesterday:
Those stairs are temporary, they'll be coming forward when they're done.
The island'll be on wheels, I hear.
Living room. Remember the whole interior has wood flooring, the paper is just for now. ;)
My handiwork on the shower. :P The toilet is tomorrow or next week so don't point out the missing tank! (You can see it in the living room)
To the left of the bathroom is one of the bedrooms, just to give a peek. It looks kinda smaller than it really is.
To the right of the bathroom is what used to be another bedroom (so obviously the bathroom was enlarged) and is now the utility room.
I'll be sure to get a runthrough with video once it's all furnished and de-papered. ;)
Anyone familiar with building construction here? Anyone know what your house's footing looks like? Keep that in your head and think of what footing for a deck would look like. You know where I'm going with this. I shouldn't be able to CARRY the house's footing out the front door. Not even mentioning he poured the concrete floor after the bottom part of the house was built, meaning the walls all sat on the ground and not the concrete slab. Don't worry though, he attached metal plates to the studs and concrete. ;)
I posted pictures a while ago of the house my grandparents bought and have been working on fairly constantly. I'll probably edit in some of the old pictures so everyone gets an idea of what the house was before. Tomorrow I'm probably going to be helping out there again (please let me not be priming and painting doors :P) - I'd put in the shower last weekend. I can't honestly say what I think I'm doing tomorrow, the house is actually pretty damn close to finished.
Front of house
Garage (lower floor)
Livingroom. You can figure out where the three bedrooms are from this picture, I won't bother with them.
Bathroom. You'll all be surprised to hear that there were, in fact, piles of raccoon poop falling from the ceiling.
I'm mainly posting these now because I plan on getting some After pictures tomorrow if my mom hasn't already gotten some with her better camera.
With this renovation, I also have a unique opportunity. Empty out the bedroom my brother and I share, and we can use the extra wood flooring in there. I'm unsure of this. My brother does sleep in there but I only use my bed for camping storage basically. The good son in me wants to go through with it because my mom wants the room to look nice but I know that my brother will end up cleaning up half his shizzle then be downstairs on XBL the whole time, whereas I end up helping put the flooring in a room I spend very little time in.
I had skipped the last two classes of speech because neither were my day to go and I didn't want to sit through speech after speech. Well, today was the overflow day and it turns out it was only me and some other girl left. I volunteered to go first (someone explain to me why I did this, I don't know) and gave my stunningly informative speech on the United States' past most influential jobs. The teacher let the other girl know it was her turn now and she pretty much said "No thanks, I'm good". That means I was the first and last speech. <_<
Yesterday morning when my family was going to the other house (the one we were helping build, mentioned it before) and an ambulance pulled out in front of us. As we drove down this long road, ambulance leading the way, we began to see a nice big, black column of smoke coming up behind the trees. In one of the forest preserve (I think) "parking lots", there was a somewhat nice looking small car completely on fire. The ambulance pulled past the lot and over onto the left lane, my mom and grandma both were saying how they thought the ambulance didn't even know about the fire and that's why they stopped further ahead. And when the car had little explosions coming off it, they thought it was because someone had fuel inside.
Felt nice to be able to explain exactly what was going on, like I'm actually learning something at school. :)
All my parts are finally on the move. Case from New Jersey shipped yesterday and I finally got the email for the rest of my things shipping from California. Expect a very happy Synapsi sometime around the fifth, excepting nothing goes wrong. :D
Just got back from a wake. The dad of a scout in our troop had passed away early Christmas morning. All I've heard is that he stopped breathing around 2AM. The scout is in 7th grade and he has another son that graduates this year.
Turns out my parents got my brother a laptop to replace the one he spilled water on. So I guess that's why I got a bunch of money to put towards a computer. ~$550 made with $170 that my brother owes me, makes for an excellent start. Definitely more than I expected to get this Christmas.
Annual what-the-hell gift? Four hand warmers and a packet of hot chocolate. Ok, I only use hand warmers hunting and the packet shouldn't have been bothered with.
So. 99 cooking, December 31st which is a week from now. Let's go with world 62's GE at 6PM CST (-6) which is 12AM GMT*. I've gotten less and less of an urge to ask if anyone wants to come to a picture in the CC so I've only got a picture for the 99 in mind so far.
*So 7 days and about three hours from now.
I hook up an old router to get a better wifi signal in the basement, neither router now gives Internet access. My brother gets all pissed and says he'll do a "Synapsi" and tell mom on me (wut) while saying she'll be pissed I screwed the Internet up. I go upstairs and explain to my mom, then wash the dishes.
While I'm doing the dishes, mom turns on her laptop that brother had been using to play minecraft, gets a funky screen, now laptop's fans and keyboard lights are the only things to run on startup.
Have words been eaten?
I reinstalled my OS yesterday and hadn't changed the settings for Windows Updates as I was working on it. I've restarted maybe three or four times easy and each time there's been new updates available.
Let's all sit around the fire while I tell you a story, a story absolutely full of horrors. It would do you all good to remember my last wave of issues where my computer's wireless driver download was nowhere to be found after I was forced to reinstall my operating system. A reinstall resulting from the factory's installation having corrupt files, mind you. But then Windows 7 came along with its generic drivers and I could successfully access the internet wirelessly without having my signal dropped for hours.
But now my computer's mysterious killer has come back! This fiend has moved up from corrupting innocent files and kidnapping downloads, now dirtying its hands with MURDER! Graphics card and I were enjoying countless hours of Minecraft when he suddenly blacked out, taking any hopes of Minecraft along with him. Let's have a moment of silence for graphics card, I knew ye well.
But now I'm split. :D I have it where I can boot up and use my computer for college-y stuff just fine but anything you'd imagine that would be graphically challenging (RS HD and Minecraft have been tested as a no-go) are out of my reach. I can't really justify getting another computer (because from what I've seen, a replacement card isn't worth it) since I seem to have only lost the not-so-necessary aspects. If I lose use of my screen completely, I could see getting another computer - probably a desktop this time around - but not until then or until I have enough money for the next of college + phone bill.
I stalked Bob's advice in The Dragoon's and Hardrune's topics and I think I have an idea/list of parts, total's about $800, graphics card pending.
