...was last week. These were some of our exploits:
- Stealing all the colorguard's pillows
- Stealing the colorguard's alarm clocks, setting the alarms to different times, hiding them
- Putting bananas in various articles of other people's clothing
- Hoisting the band director's underwear up the flagpole. All credits go to the camp director and the nurse (a.k.a. my mother).
My friends, that's only four. I need suggestions for next year. Tell me what you've got; hopefully I'll be a drum major and can get away with it. <_<
It's time for...
The Hillary Clinton Pic of the DAY!
Let's see... Here we go:
Contains subtle description of female anatomy and hilarity. Or is it "Hillarity?"
Oh, it's a shame I'm allergic to KFC chicken... darn. :(
I got my band letter for my varsity jacket today. I'm excited. Apparently, only special people get those.
And I kicked some cabbage at my latest band concert. I improvised a solo in "Groovin' Hard" (look it up); it was pretty cool. And I got an award for Outstanding Sophomore in the high school band. Ownage? I think so.
My dental implant on my left side feels a little loose. I'm kinda worried that the tooth part is going to fall off the screw and I'll swallow it when I'm eating or something. It almost happened to my mom, and with my luck, it'll happen to me. <_<
I didn't realize how awesome Paramore was until today. They're my new favorite band now.
I found this hilarious motivational poster about Hilary Clinton:
My personal favorite is the top middle.
That is all.
My craters in the back of my mouth are healing up nicely.
Grey's Anatomy comes back next Thursday! I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park.
I get my band letter to put on my varsity jacket. Only special people get those.
That's all that's running through my mind at the moment.
I played a note on the bass in jazz band today. The instructor wanted to hear the last chord of a song with a new trumpet part added into it (he plays trumpet professionally). (He was playing the bass today; our regular bass player was doing something else.) I was sitting there on the piano bench NOT playing my saxophone because of my wisdom teeth (). He did a double take, and then he's like, "Come here. Put your finger right here and play this." I played an F about five times. Then he said, "There. Now you play the saxophone, the violin, the piano, AND the bass!" :P Then the drummer threw me a stick and I hit the ride cymbal with it. Then I said, "And I play the drums." :P
As of now, I'm making one of my best friends teach me how to play bass. It's cool. :D
I went to State Solo and Ensemble on Saturday, and I got a II. 85 and above is a I, and I got an 84. >.<
(Solo and Ensemble = bunch of judges (who have little else to do but practice their instrument and be too hoity-toity) judge you on scales, sight reading, and your solo that you (should) have practiced.)
I figured that I have to get a 41% on my Physics exam in order to get an A as a final grade. What a shame.
And since today was St. Patty's day, we were annoying everyone who wasn't wearing green. Somebody asked my Physics teacher where his green was, and he just opened his eyes really wide. He has Paul Newman-blue eyes. Blue, not green. I was going to fight him over it, but I decided it wasn't worth the time. :o
Holy crap, I'm exhausted.
Random stuff that happened this week.
My school's Model U.N. team won the league championships for the 15th year in a row. My country (Vietnam) is so awesome, our resolution was 20th on the resolution list, and we still placed 4th in that competition. Our school pwned; here's a list of our countries and their placings:
Democratic Republic of Congo - 1st
Ukraine - 2nd
United States of America - 3rd
Vietnam - 4th
Iran - 8th (screwoffs? >.<)
I have 107% in Physics. :glasses:
My dental implants are healing pretty well. I was awake while the guy (I don't know what he is. Periodontist, maybe?) was drilling metal screws into my skull. >.< It was weird, and the anesthesia was starting to wear off a little bit towards the end. Good thing he asked if I could feel anything before he stitched me up. I took some Vicadin the next day and went to school. I fell asleep during Jazz Band. :glasses:
My high school band went to band festival yesterday. We got a II, straight across the board. There's only 40 people in it. :glasses:
This week has been kinda cool.
We had a chili supper at our school. The jazz band plays in it, as well as all the Solo and Ensemble participants, so I had no time to eat mah chilleh. :o
I was sick with a really sore throat that day, so I didn't go to school and slept until 1:30.
I'm apparently being requested to join Science Olympiad. I have no idea what the heck that is, but the senior class wants me in it. :o They've already done the same thing to me with Model U.N. and Writing Team; why not?
So now it's the weekend, and my mom is bringing me raspberry cream cheese rolls from the bakery for breakfast.
I'm only actually going to school 2 days this week. :) School was cancelled last Thursday and Friday, then the weekend, and it was again cancelled on Monday. On Thursday and Friday, I have a Model U.N. competition (go 'Nam!) and a jazz festival on Thursday and Friday respectively. Fun. :P
I have too much band stuff this month. I have Solo and Ensemble (where you go play music and judges give you a rating) on Saturday, 2 dinner-type things next week, as well as a strings concert. When I close my eyes, all I see is little black dots with lines sticking out of them.
I'm proud of myself. I can play the beginning of Desperado on the piano. I printed off the sheet music, but I can't read bass clef and do two separate things with either hand, so I just play the chords with my left hand. Otherwise, I can play the whole thing. I'll record it sometime. Anyone know a good site for uploading mp3s, by the way?
The Eagles are awesome, tbh.
There is so much snow here, it's not even funny.
We got sent home from school early today. (They sent us home at 2:00, but school normally ends at 2:55, so I fail to see the point.) I live in Michigan, and as you might know, there was this pretty big snowstorm today. School was already cancelled for tomorrow, and there are drifts everywhere. We can't even get cars out of our driveway. :D
I'm gonna take some pictures tomorrow and post them here, just to illustrate my point.
So, I came back from Wal-Mart shopping for Superbowl food with my mom half an hour ago. I got the grocery sack with the chips in it and went to walk in the house. The following happened within about 30 seconds.
I have an abrasion on my right knee. I'm holding an icepack on it right now.
Stupid Birkenstocks. They shall be doomed to eternal damnation. :o
This is what happens when you have 2 random people sitting next to each other in the back corner of a math class room during a very boring lesson on standard deviation.
I was going to add a potato, but I had nowhere to put him... >.< Actually, it was going to be a girl, so her.
I have a lot of homework this weekend. :o
My major problem is my online Spanish class. That takes place in semesters, so the final is due this Tuesday. However, my actual school is in trimesters, so we're in the middle of stuff, and I have a final that I really have no time to take. I talked to my counselor on Thursday, and she said she'll let me skip band for a couple days so I can take it. I thanked her, even though she is a bit of a ditz.
Other things on my mind:
Spanish unit test due Saturday
600-word math paper on normal distributions, mean, standard deviation, etc. due next Friday
English paper outline on Romanticism due Monday
Model U.N. resolution analyses
Solo & Ensemble music that I have to find an accompanist for :o
On a lighter note, I completely aced my Physics test from Thursday. Every single question right. Of course, I guess we're only doing easy stuff. :) Force, Torque, Work, Efficiency; stuff like that.
I hate Wednesdays. They are thoroughly the most non-exciting days of the week on which every single one of my teachers gives homework. At least 40% of my school day has something to do with band.
I have come to the conclusion that most of my English class is a bunch of morons. The other day, a girl asked if "king" was a noun in a certain sentence. I should have told her it was an indirect object; she would have completely flipped out. :P Lately, we've all been doing ACT prep stuff, since all the juniors have to take it this year. This is extremely advantageous for me, because whenever the rest of the class has to take practice tests, I, being the only sophomore in the class, get to do whatever the heck I want. :P This consists of invading the eighth grade band most of the time. What fun.
Honors Band was exhausting and somewhat frustrating, although fun at the same time. The tenor saxophone to my right had the social skills of God knows what; something that's not very social. :( The one on the left was nice, though; we pretty much talked the whole time and couldn't hear a word the director said. This is life in the fifth or sixth row of an orchestra. Just do whatever everybody else does.
We hosted everybody at our school, which was cool. My band director booked the downtown bowling alley for two hours, and we beat everybody there by a half-hour. I hitched a ride with the drum major; I'm admittedly trying to suck up. ^_^ It's working, too; if I didn't play volleyball and didn't have to miss almost every Saturday band competition, I probably would be a drum major. I guess I can be section leader dictator. :(
Okay, here's the deal. My father blocked Runescape on the Internet because my little brother is seemingly addicted. (Still haven't found a way to get around it. :o ) How is this fair treatment to me and my other Runescaping siblings? It's not. Anyway, I motion to create a petition with at least 100 signatures to...
LET ELLIE PLAY RUNESCAPE!
Please feel free to encourage others to sign this. Comment to "sign," and I'll add your name.

Well, I feel pretty awesome today.
I'm the youngest person (sophomore) to go to Honors Band! It's a band geek's dream. I think the jazz director put the concert director up to it, though. Fine by me.
Tenor saxophone, by the way.
